    Net animations

People commented on this in long threads but I wanted to make a seperate thread as its a big issue.

In the demo videos it seems the net has one reaction. It doesn't really "SPLASH" on long three pointers or mid range shots but rather barely moves.

In the competition the net is too splashy and even splashes on layups which is not reflective in real life.

I think before release you guys need to work on having multiple net animations for shots that:

    1. hit the rim then go in

    2. layup shots

    3. long shots

    4. 3 point shots of the backboard that get stuck in the net for half a second before falling through

It's definitely improved over 09, but I agree it does need a little more variation. I still need to see more footage though.

Yea, same here. Personally I think they're fine. Could they be better? yea of course. Will they be better than last year? Looks like it. Will it be even better next year? Maybe.

I'm just happy they focused more on the core gameplay and controls. The fine tuning and icing on the cake can come next year.

The very first gameplay trailer they released with gameplay, the net "splashed" on the Peitrus 3. Just thought I would let you know.

Dont forget...the videos from gamercon are from the Live 10 demo (i think). Demo's dont always have all the features that the retail copy does. I'm not saying the retail version will have more net/rim animations....but it's a possibility. You really have to wait until the game is released or at the very least wait until some final build 5 on 5 videos are released. (Like a video with 2 random teams, not the magic/lakers which are demo vids).

              Re: Net animations

I agree with the "lack of net animations"

...I know they have improved them slightly from '09, but the net animations in the competition seem to do more justice. I wish they would have re-vamped them, because seeing the ball go through the net happens numerous times through the course of an entire basketball game.

It just seems to me Live's "net animations" make it seem like the net is "sprayed with starch" (or has the effect of a chain-linked net), yet the competition is too weak and light.

Looks as though the game is shaping up to be an excellent installment this year; nevertheless, the net animations ruin it for me.

You know my old daddy used to always say it. You know he used to say it like this; "Ain't no net too splashy son. Ain't no net too splashy."
You won't always be the best shooter. You won't always be the best rebounder, or defender, either. What you can always do the best though, is play hard. Once you do that, Everything else will take care of itself.

I just want Mike or Steph to comment on this.

The NBA Live 10 net reaction to any shot is the same reaction of somebody dunking a ball and the ball goes through almost without touching the NET.

I also noted after watching all the videos is that there's only one way the ball goes in the hoop.

the gamescom demo and the demo that we are going to get on 10th are one and the same old build of the game..Mike or Stephen said it..VC has a head band which will be missing in the retail version..getting a demo on xboxlive and psn is a pretty long process as it has to be approved by MS and Sony..

I think some things have been fixed

Look back at the interview with Mike. There was a nice variety of net animations in that(Devis Harris's jumper had a nice splash). Hopefully that reflects the retail product.

How about you stop making excuses for the devs with every 'critique' mentioned? If you have nothing to add then don't respond.

                          Thanks kid.

And Yes, we seen it in Mikes first video but not seeing that in these Gamecom videos is a little disheartening. I've asked plenty of times and haven't gotten a response on the issue, so I'll continue to wonder.

I think this is one of the area's 2k really excels at. Their net and rim physics are really impressive. It is noticeable when you play both games that Live's variation in the way the net reacts lags behind 2k.

2K nets are flawed as well, all they do is "super splash" no matter the distance of the shot, layups etc... No one is getting a crown in this department...(dont believe me look at this vid http://www.gametrailers.com/video/ex...nba-2k10/54771)

But Live 10 is having some net issues in the Demo played at the convention.

And yes, this is a BIGGER deal than you would first realize because if you dont get that satisfying feeling of getting a swish and have it look like a real swish it ruins the experience.
