I'll take NBA 09(Sony's game) nets anytime of the week. But 2K is easily the better of the two. At least they splash.

In one of his first posts about 10, Steph said that net and rim physics had been overhauled, well doesn't look so from this demo, I still have to see an outside shot that gives you some sort of suspense about its outcome, it's always nothing but net, or a bad miss. The same goes for free throws....big disappointment, hope Steph can chime in to comfort me.

In one of the Gamescom vids Artest hit a three off of the back of the rim. Don't know if that's what your looking for though?

And Yes, we seen it in Mikes first video but not seeing that in these Gamecom videos is a little disheartening. I've asked plenty of times and haven't gotten a response on the issue, so I'll continue to wonder.

Shakedown. I don't think anyone will be able to answer this for you because its kind of subjective.... Not so much if its been improved. but rather if its enough variation for each individual to not be an issue.

Hopefully the demo will give you enough to see if its fixed for you.

I did not play nba09 but 2k's are the best I've seen. I anticipate lives being much much better than live 09 but maybe not on point enough for those who really really need that part of the game to be correct.

You must have missed my bitching at Mike for 2K6(360) and 2K7.. Dude really gets it and understood where I was coming from(in my countless PM's during that period) so I kinda hold him to that standard. Might it be unfair? Possibly. But that's what it is.

I'll always appreciate him getting that done for us with 2k8.

you're right but that was the only instance in both videos, too little for my tastes.....

In the video posted by brs form Gamescom, the first shot that Rashard Lewis takes swishes and looks really nice. And what do you consider a bad miss? Because a lot of the misses looked rather pedestrian to me (Off back rim and some rolled off to the right/left)

Honestly this is a game killer for me. I usually shake my head at people who critique small things but this is one of those areas that ruins a game for me.

In my opinion 2K has it down great and it makes a huge difference.

Last year they were gross in Live. I'll try the demo this year and if they are bad again I'll only get 2K.

Whoever said 2K's had issues is not playing the same game I am!

Yea, I didn't see a huge problem with 2K8 or 2K9's nets. When they first showed them off in 2k6(xbox, ps2) they were pretty ridiculous but awesome at the same time cause no basketball game had ever done it.

I'm waiting for a dev to post on this issue. In the meantime I'm looking for good resolution videos I can edit in Premiere Pro CS4 to show you guys what I really mean even though some of you understand it already.


It's a semi-game killer for a lot of us.

Notice how the ball nearly always hits a part of the rim before going in. Pure swishes are rare but are very unique in net reaction.
