In 09 it looked like it was falling through a Naismith peach basket. It's much better in every video for Live 10, even the Gamescom video. I'm not worried.

Having said that, there is something disturbing about the nets in the gamescon vids. It's possible that the nets were dampened in an attempt to optimize the ps3 demo. The new net sim is quite expensive from a performance perspective. I will investigate tomorrow. But I'm playing the 360 version right now and it's splashy net central.
Ok glad we're on the same page. I know ps3 has physx on their gpu so maybe you guys can at least get weight and net reaction on the ps3 at least?

Also since a made shot is determined by synergy and release then where does physics come in in the process of making a shot?

I say this because in real life it's rotation+arc

The competition is right at their heels so I don't think its safe to leave out major components such as nets physics.

We'll see come the demo, I will definitely be posting a HIGHLY, highly detailed review of the demo and hopefully if I find any thing needing fixing it gets fixed by release.

Mike said he's not sure if the new net physics are even in the demo, since they take a huge chunk of cpu power. He was supposed to check on it though. If I remember right.

                edit: here is the quote.

                  Ridiculous.

There are what, 150 shots put up a game? Isn't it pretty important to see a huge variation of ball/rim/net interaction?

I'm heavily leaning towards 2K but reading Live to see if it can win me over.

I'm no fan boy or trying to argue, just simply stating that in an important area of the game, I like the competition.

Exactly. I'm gonna give the demo a try and see how everything plays.

I could live with a lot of things not right (I'm enjoying NCAA 10, so there's my EA game...I'm not a *****).

To ME having bad net/ball/rim interactions is a big deal.

I suggest you all see the start of the czar's latest video, where he talks about ball-rim interaction between 2k and live in 2009. Live must close the gap in 10.

if this is the case, is this dampening only for the demo? or can ps3 users expect an inferior retail version as well?

no. ps3 final will be same as 360.

either way though, i plan on tuning the net physics via patch for both games.
