Suggestion regarding difficulty levels in Live (rookie, pro, allstar, ect.)

I know the EA guys have been complaining a bit about people misjudging the realism of the game because it is being played in easy difficulty levels (like rookie and pro). I suggest that EA might just want to rename their difficulty levels and that might help avoid this kind of confusion. As opposed to difficulty names like "rookie, pro, allstar, superstar," maybe change the names to "very easy, easy, REALISTIC, and expert"....this way people will know just from looking at the name that the third difficulty level is the closest to realism and people won't wrongly accuse live of being unrealistic when seeing it on rookie or pro level.

when looking at the name "pro" for a difficulty level, that implies that this level is realistic, since it is called "pro" after all. the word "pro" is a bit misleading and causes people to expect it to me more realistic than it is. I just think it might be smart to rename the difficulty levels to something that better describes what kind of gameplay you will see on that difficulty level. This would make it clear to users as well as game review sites (like IGN and Gamespot) that the third difficulty level is meant to be the true representation of the game.

What I think is people should use their brain more and listen what the devs have to say about their game.

this is true, but more casual gamers who don't come on this forum will never see these threads and read what the devs have said about the difficulty levels. I am referring to the average gamer who picks up Live but doesn't know about OS and therefore doesn't know what the difficulty levels really mean.

Thats a good simple idea that could prove to be effective.

Or, maybe when you first start the game for the first time, EA could add a brief prompt that pops up and gives a quick explanation about the difficulty levels and what they really mean. This way they will notify the user from the start what to expect from the various difficulty levels. also, when you go into options, EA might want to add a quick paragraph in parenthesis after each difficulty level that describes what they mean...i typed below to show what this difficulty options screen might look like:

Rookie (very easy - easy to penetrate and score. easy to dunk. AI is not very strong. Minimal contact and defense the paint)

Pro (easy - slightly harder than rookie, but still easy to score)

All star (realistic - this level is closest to real NBA basketball. Defenders stop penetration and it is more difficult to score)

Superstar (expert - defense is intense and difficult to score on, requires very high skill level and concentration)

You got a point but today you can find everything on the net. Hard to believe in today's world ppl are sometimes not up to date with things. I also think a good thing would be to put a short description under the difficulty levels in the game. This way nobody would be confused.

Who actually plays the game on Rookie. Seriously? They should be Easy (pro) Medium (all-pro) Hard (superstar)

Nope not gonna happen, If you cant tell what level is easy to hard, then you shouldn't be playing videogames at all or go get a Wii and play the all play version.

It's not necessary. I actually like how they made up the names to make it basketball related. (rookie, pro, all-star, superstar) What's wrong with that?

I agree it should be second nature to know the last 2 difficulties are the toughest and realistic in any sports game by now.

They could simply spell it out in the manual, which by the way is one of my gripes against EA. Over the years there manuals have gotten thinner and thinner with less and less information.

You right but some companies put more info on the web, like nba 2k9 has a very in depth meaning for all the sliders and moves on adobe acrobat.

I can't believe how obnoxious some of you are. Believe it or not thousands of people play games, but don't get on message boards. Take a look at the amount of people viewing this board. There are people who don't even know there are sliders.
