What control options has you the most excited?

Well for me the new shot controls have got me excited. One thing I really hate about Bball games is when the game picks a shot for me.

When this happens a lot of stupid things can happen like you getting blocked or you putting up a shot that has not chance to go in.

After watching the vids Mike posted I feel like this problem will finally be alleviated.

This may be the first year where every shot I take is in my control so if I get blocked it will because of something I did.

And that is just great news too me because then I won't feel like I have been cheated.

With this system it seems like now you have no excuses for terrible shot selection.

Its also going to make it fun using great scorers like Kobe because they have so many moves at their disposal.

And for you guys that may have missed these post here's some about the new Pick N Roll controls for this year:

    - Ability to manually choose screener
    - Ability to set and call for offball screens
    - Ability to toggle between roll or fade at any time (no longer bound to the animation)
    - Ability to release screener at anytime (total control over slips & slow rolls)
    - Ability to rub/brush your guy off a screen. Last year if the pre-screen idle didn't kick in, the screen failed
    - Ability to lay a guy out with a hard screen
    - Illegal screen violations

Instead of bulldozing their way to the basket through 8 guys, they'll either slow up and slow roll in or get caught in an offball post-entry type battle. Watching guys exploit the pick & roll game last year in the Live 09 All-Star weekend tourney practically made me throw up in my mouth. I'm happy to report that Yao won't be chalking up 60 points on slip screen dunks this year.

Re: What control options has you the most excited?

Along with the new shooting, I'm excited to use the new passing controls.

From what we've been hearing, once you get used to the freestyle passing, it's really the only way people pass.

But for me, I've always been an icon lead passer in the games that I've played, so I'll probably try to get comfortable with the new icon passing controls in Live first (being able temporarily lock on the receiver to get him in position for the pass) and use that in most half-court situations and use the freestyle passing mechanic for fastbreaks and drive and kick plays.

Can't wait to dig into this game.....only 5 1/2 (or maybe 6 1/2) days until we get our first taste!!!!!

Re: What control options has you the most excited?

For me its a 3 way tie between the shooting, passing and the new dribbling system.

The reason why is that im so glad that we can be able to choose how we shoot and finish on either side of the rim and choose to go glass if we want.

The passing is gonna be ridiculous (in a good way) and thats all i got to say about that.

The new dribbling system is the best so far that i've ever seen in any bball game cause we really have FULL CONTROL over what we do instead of watching an animation.

So i don't have a #1 but instead all of these are tied for the #1 spot.

Authentic playbooks also have me very excited. Pretty sure it was stated somewhere that the Lakers have 392 plays available to them and I'm excited to see how all of these are executed both by me and the CPU.

Re: What control options has you the most excited?

I'm most excited about the passing controls, for me the old non-icon passing method was too inaccurate and the icon method was sometimes too slow. This sounds perfect!

I am most relieved that the one button/user choice shooting controls aren't overly complicated! I was very concerned when I first heard about it that wouldn't be the case. As previously stated I am not a fan of games that use control complication as a means to make the game more or less difficult, especially sports games when it's the strategy that should dictate success. So I'm just glad there's no Mortal Combat on the court: forward-forward-half circle back-a-a-b just to cross over and go to the rack!

Lol so true I'm happy to see that too.

I like when the controls in games are simple to pick up but at the same time extremely deep when you take the time to learn all the little nuances.

I want to try out Freestyle passing just to see how it feels. Not really excited about anything else as they've been done before.

Passing for me. The ability to quickly and easily take control of an off-ball player is going to change my offense forever.

Dribbling and Shooting...Passing is great but still has awkward animation when passed to a near teammate.

Shooting. Seems to have received most of the functionality of the shot stick while keeping the right stick free.

I havent seen nba live 10 use the controls in that type of way and people say nba 2k has done all that but not in that type of form either..My imo the controls on nba live 10 is the best ive seen in any basketball game and everything has a pop to it and its fluid..

That's cool you're entitled to yours, I wasn't talking about controls though I was speaking on options. These options are not new. Great that they're in but they've been done before, whether is was by 2K or EA doesn't really matter.

Anyway, if freestyle passing works as advertised it may become the norm (or should I say should). I've been emulating it on my controller and it seems like it'll feel real nice. I just hope the targeting is on point, no point using it if I'm not getting the guy that I want.

I'm excited about being able to move my player where I want to on the court and not engage 5 stupid animations on my way.

That wasn't on the list, but that's the runaway #1 for me. Locomotion FTW.

Shooting controls! This is the one thing missing in basketball games IMO (I know 2k has the shot stick) but this is more refine.
