i usually try to buy both every year but i think im going to stick it to nba live this year... i havent flew from the free throw line and dunked on anyone since ive been playing with this demo.... the new dribbling control is fire and actually works..... didnt you hate it on nba 2k when you didnt a step back dribble and it was just something on the game.... in nba 10 you can actually create spacing with your dribbles..... the toned it down a bit on the graphics but they made the gameplay better and thats always a plus in my book..... the shots also look better going in compared to last year when you knew the difference between a miss and a bucket soon as the ball came out of your man hands.....

The truth frustrates you? Yes I do read through it. I'm an intelligent person and have a CS degree and know what good business practices are. Can you honestly tell me what I said there isn't true? So the steal button works as it should? Listen man to me it's a game and no big deal but when you fire back and insult my integrity what do you expect? Yes I read through it and thought about it before I posted it.

I'm not going back and forth with this. My problem with your post is your saying Czar, an innocent bystander, loses cred for telling you guys his opinion. He came to OS as a representative of OS that YOU guys, the community, asked for him to come. He gave his valued opinion and let you guys know what the game was about.

Czar shouldn't get any heat from you guys, and if he does, it's ridiculous considering he's one of you.

For all you guys having trouble on defense one thing to keep in mind is you have to anticipate.

Unlike 2K and other basketball games in order to play effective defense in this game you must anticipate then react. Just reacting to a player will get you burned a lot of times because sometimes they move faster then you hands can comprehend.

So for example if you see one of your perimeter defenders get beat your job as the help guy is to to survey the situation and react accordingly.

So if its a guy like Carter you'll want anticipate the drive in the lane. As soon as he is in layup range begin contesting the shot.

Don't wait until he's near enough to you to block his shot because at that point he's already got the layup.

This game really simulates the speed of NBA players so you must anticipate in order to defend shots especially those in the paint.

Same thing on the perimeter if you think the guys going right move there before he makes his move. This is really important against guys that have quick first steps because if you don't react quick enough they are going right by you.

I'm telling you guys if you anticipate it will make playing D a lot easier I know it has for me.

Also with guys like Artest and Howard the thing that makes them great is that you don't have to anticipate as early as you do with lesser defenders.

Their reaction time is higher so as a defender now you can just react to the off player rather then anticipate his every move.

Pared...these two probs have been in the series forever. My one big concern from Da_Czar's sensational preview was that he mentioned the post game wasn't so good. In LIVE 09, it was basically impossible to play D in the post. Even with Tim Duncan, you couldn't guard anyone. There was no feel of contact down there with the bigs.

Is it the same this season or improved?

That's not what I was saying. That's his opinion. In my opinion he was hyping the game and I don't agree with his opinion. To me he does. We are all wrong sometimes so that's not an insult to him personally. To some people he might be right. To me I don't agree. No big deal. He's had great observations most of the time. He was right in that regard that the ballhandling control in the game is very good. My only issue is the focus of your marketing has been that this game is great when you've been focusing on things that only show that. But you aren't showing the entire story. You are showing what is going to sell games for you. If you guys were putting out the best game possible I wouldn't say that. I just don't buy the hype and I'm not saying there aren't reasons on your end. I'm also not saying is a bad game. It's actually a decent game and very good in certain regards. It's improved but it's noticeable where your focus was. You've been here touting this game as the greatest game to come down the road when and I just don't agree with that. If yu are going to market the game like that then back it up. Otherwise you are all talk.

Seems like several of you are having trouble playing defense... so I'm gonna throw this out there.

A couple of guys have mentioned it already, but you really can't play defense in Live 10 like you have in past basketball games. When you're guarding a good ballhandler, you CAN'T crowd him. Learn to gap him and play the angles. Don't reach and just focus on staying in his driving lane. If you have a slower defender, bring help. If you have to, hold RB and let the AI help you get in optimal position. But when the ball handler goes, let go of RB and manually D him up because if he tries to cross you up while you're using Defensive Assist, he probably will.

The last thing... and this one is very important. There's a possibility that there's a bug in the demo that causes the "dribble bumps" to fail on higher difficulty levels. This would manifest itself in the AI being able to slip right past you when you're in good defensive position, instead of you riding him to the side. The issue cropped up late and we fixed it for the full version but I don't recall if it was fixed in time for the demo. I haven't played the demo yet, but I'll try to find someone who has it to verify. But either way, gapping your check and cutting off the angles are VERY important to being successful with onball defense this year.

Maybe that's it.. what is RB supposed to do?

There's just nothing to do on defense... quite honestly, it's pretty boring compared to the offense.

The tap Y mechanic (challenge, not block) doesn't work during a shot... at this point, it's seemingly a "go ahead and drive by me" button.

Perhaps it's just me. I can't find a use for it. With so much available to you on offense... I need to find something to keep me busy on D.

I'm not trying to sound negative, but to me it feels untouched.

It's almost exactly like Live '09. Try to stay in front of your man, press the block button and hope he does enough to deter the shot.

I can't strip, I can't front the post. Don't get me wrong... the CPU is doing it... but I can't figure out how to do it myself. Could be user error. But I've been trying to figure it out most of the day with no luck.

If anyone knows something I don't... help me out here. Post defense feels exactly the same.

this game suffers from everything that frustrates me about 2k basketball...

1. do a crossover the defender falls for it but after the move you are not aligned to drive to the hoop you have to then do another bounce to square your self up while the defender slides back in the play

2. TOUCH THE STICK to move and an animation kicks in

3. the defenders on the perimeter just back up in the lane you really cant blow by on the higher difficulties

4. A glance at the ratings looks like they removed some categories...

5. i miss the dunk button.. but oh well
6. cpu still cant break out


loved...

1. the graphics
2. the game feels more controlled
3. liked the scoring variety
4. LOVED THE DNA BREAK DOWN and if its editable man i am in love

5. i noticed some aggressiveness on driving by the cpu

cant wait 2 more weeks nice work fellas

I concur, its to early to say whose ahead of who, both games havent come out yet, and this demo is a earlier version of this game.

Even though I have issues with the size of the players in relation to the court and how when rebounding they basically jump over the rim.

You have to give it to EA for putting out a demo before 2k even gave us gameplay vids

Let him Know! EA thinks every body is a 10yr old. Smooth offense, suspect defense. What is the story with does ugly block animations.

The game is much improved from last year. I can tell by the controls, it is much tighter and smooth. I also love how you can play defense, I know some of you sim guys don't like it by reading some of the impressions here but for me it is much easier, I like it!

Looks like it's going to be a fun basketball video game to play! Good job NBA Live Team!! It's looking good!

Looking forward to the full game.
