Achieving real stats within dynamic season
I'm not so sure dynamic season is going to work for the casual kid who plays sports videogames. Something I haven't heard people talking about much is the fact that you're going to have to get really realistic stats in order for the mode to work at all. If the teams are getting around 100 points per game, and you're playing 5 minute quarter games, the whole mode falls apart. If you want to play primarily with the Lakers, you're going to ruin Kobe's season by not playing 12 minute quarter games. Even if you are able to achieve semi-realistic stats with say 8 minute quarters, certain things are going to be skewed. All-in-all, EA has to be confident that this game is geared towards simulation such that the user is able to play 12 minute quarters without stats being blown out of proportion.Tags: None -

I say maybe 9-10 per quarter. Give or a take a minute per quarter."I'm so far ahead of my time, I'm bout to start another life

Re: Achieving real stats within dynamic season
I'm hoping that's the case, and if it is i'm going to really enjoy this game. I agree that it seems that it may be true, and that's a huge step in sports gaming. I just wonder how many people have the patience to play 12 minute quarter games.Comment

Re: Achieving real stats within dynamic season
"Live 10's pace is such that 12 minute quarters are necessary to get realistic stats (on the appropriate difficulty)."
In the demo, at least when I play, scores have been in the mid-high 20's to the 30's for 8 minutes of play. That's high 30's to mid 40's for a 12 minute quarter, which is way too much scoring.
One of the problems seems to be there's still way too much turbo.Last edited by fjccommish; 09-18-2009, 11:38 AM.Comment

Re: Achieving real stats within dynamic season
Guys that play 12 minute quarters take their time on possessions. If you're scoring 30 points in 8 minutes then you're playing at a faster pace than real life.
Nothing wrong with that. Play how you want to play. But, I'm a 12 minute qtr guy and I never have trouble getting realistic scores (both 2k and Live over the years).
As for the original post, the only thing that would get severely screwed up is minutes per game. If you can achieve realistic scores in 6-10 minutes then you're not going to mess up PPG, RPG, APG, or anything. You'll just end up cutting minutes away from your players."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. I play the game at the pace that works. I'm not going to purposely dribble more, pass up open shots, not look for shots, just to run clock.Comment

Re: Achieving real stats within dynamic season
a 12 minute quater game, with a team only scoring 80-90 points, would be very slow and very boring IMO... you would be devoting like an hour to each game when u add in dead balls, timeouts, free throws... hopefully it can be realistic with less time...Comment

Your pace is your pace and like I said: Play the game however you like it.
The point is: if you score 30 points in 8 minutes then you are playing at a faster pace than the league. I'm not challenging you on it. I'm not trying to make you feel bad. It's just the truth. If you prefer a faster pace then go ahead. Again, if you can achieve in 8 minutes what it takes to achieve in 12 minutes in real life, then what's the problem? Stats will be fine."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. If you guys like playing less minutes and can still score 100 points, what's the issue?"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Achieving real stats within dynamic season
If you cant score enough in 5 minutes then up the shooting sliders, that way you can get realistic stats for players. But dont be complaining about field goal percentage bcuz that wont be realistic.I will always, always be a Jets fan. But trust me it hurts.Comment

Re: Achieving real stats within dynamic season
Well, the new blog pretty much answers any concerns. There is an option to have everything scaled up toward 12 minutes if you play minutes lower than 10 and can't score enough points for realistic results."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Yup, I put in a stat scaling option just for this reason. It defaults to 'on'.Comment
