    Too Many Big Scoring Runs?

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing big runs especially by the cpu. I know in the NBA teams go on runs but darn near every game I've been up double figures and ended up down sometimes double figures in the same quarter.

I call timeouts, run plays, slow the tempo and the cpu goes bonkers long enough to catch up. It seems like my guys get tired and start missing while the cpu guys don't tire at all and start hitting crazy shots usually near the end of the 3rd quarter when they haven't been substituted for the entire quarter.

It makes for fun games but it gets really predictable when many of the games seem to play out this way.

I almost chucked the controller when for my 3rd straight game this scenario played out. I was up 15 in the middle of the 3rd and I was down 10 early in the 4th. A 25 point swing. Fortunately for me I outscored them 33-11 in the 4th to win.

Re: Too Many Big Scoring Runs?

The final game I played last night did seem to have a bit of a scripted feel to it. Bulls (me) at Philly and I couldn't throw the ball in the ocean outside of late in the first half when I hit 6 of 7 to close a 15-pt deficit. I finished 6-21 for the game, so outside of that run I was 0-14. I know the Bulls don't have great shooters but a lot were wide open looks.

On the flip side there are definitely times where it seems the CPU will score at will on you and there is nothing you can do. They will nail every jumpshot for a 3-4 minute stretch even if you have a hand in their face. As you said, time outs, changing tempo, etc doesn't really do much for you. You just have to weather the storm and hope it ends soon.

Maybe it was just this one game I played but I'm not gonna lie, it's a concern for me.

I think some of this too is that the AI will generally nail every open shot with a player who would normally make that shot, while the user has to work within those DNA percentages as well as get a good release in order to make those same shots. We're all new to the game here and I know that I don't even have my Nugs releases down yet, so that can be playing into this as well... release timing is WAY more important than in the past. It seems that if you can't get to the rim or your superstar isn't nailing everything, it becomes a battle to stay in the game because the CPU doesn't seem to go through those dry spells as often (it always requires you playing great defense to take the AI off its game).

Might be an issue, but I've had it go both ways. The NBA is a league of runs, but 25 point swings one way or the other is probably overdoing it a bit. I need more time to see if this holds up over repeated games though, but I have noticed the things mentioned above.

One game is one thing but like I said when for the 3rd straight game this scenario started to play out I was like GTFOH with that crap. Seems scripted. Hopefully it's just a small sample size and there'll be more varied outcomes. As for now, I just hold on the best i can and hope the run comes to end.

Is it just me or does EA sports games have these problems way too often. Last Gen Maddens, NCAAs are plagued by this. Sometimes I feel that they do it on purpose just to keep the games close which I feel is cheating and fixed.

When this happens to me it isn't really my shots or my defense. I generally shoot a higher % than the cpu. They get more second chance points and that's usually where I lose. However, when the A.I. goes on one it's runs all of the sudden my A.I. teammates decide to leave their man wide open when they haven't done that all game.

The following players have done this to me while their team was on a run. Crossovers, Euro steps, spin moves, blow by to the hoop, athletic shot change in mid air, finish with contact, vicious dunks off of offensive rebounds. The players you ask? Darko Milicic, Brendon Haywood, Kosta Koufus, Brad Miller. That ain't right.

It seems the cpu goes into scoring mode where whatever shot they take goes in and there is nothing anybody can do about it.

Hey, hey, hey now, B.Haywood has become a good nba center.

There were games in the past that were indeed scripted. Earl Weaver baseball was one of them and there were versions of NBA Live were too.

In Earl Weaver sometimes I'd quit and restart a game, only to find it impossible to avoid the same big inning or HR from the same hitter.

In Live, can't remember the version, I once lost when I tried to drive and dunk, only to be called for goal tending. I replayed the game, and again at the end went in for a dunk only to be called for goal tending.

Brendon is alright and Brad Miller use to be very good. However, neither one of them is crossing over, spin dribbling, and pro hopping to the basket from 15 feet out, ha ha. Ain't. Gonna. Happen.
