Sometimes retailers do deals with publishers and get incentives for selling more units of their products. Not saying that's what happened in this case... the employee might just have had a beef with LIVE.

This was just a straight case of salemanship. I had ordered pre-ordered Live already and he was just trying to pump up the sales of 2k, standing in front of his big Kobe/2k cutout and his 80 copies of 2k staring at me faced out. What's funny is I have been guilty of trying to help 2k stay in the game, I even defended MLB2k to people and tried to help the "little guys" against mighty EA. But I can't anymore. Between the franchise freezes that seem to happen in every new title, to the horrible framerates in most of the cams in NBA2k (even post-patch the 2kcam chugged on change of possessions till about half court, drive cam was worse) 2k games have really started to seem "cheaply made." I'm tired of that. (but it wasn't so bad when the 2k games were cheaply sold!)

Now, in all fairness, it would have been nice to know that my Sprite Highlights would have looked like I was doing one of those hand-drawn flipbooks that I drew in third grade But those don't affect my gameplay, and I do have hopes of a patch. Long story short, it would be nice to have somebody keep it real with what a game does right and what is not up to snuff. Gamespot,Gamestop, IGN, OS or somebody... BTW the guy did bring you up having switched from 2k to this game. I was like "I know, he's on Operation Sports all the time." He was like "really, what's OS?" Yep, real gamer there! LOL!

        Note to Tiburon Marketing:

A great product sells itself, no "back of the box" features required! (See Fifa...)

Yeah man, that would be weak if they try and go harass that kid for suggesting a game. What's even worse is that the store might even fire the employee if they get a call from EA.

I don't see whats the big deal. If I go to Gamestop and I'm about to buy a game someone there thinks is wack, I would love for them to try and stop me. That way I could listen to their points and it might stop me from losing $60. I've read reviews from some sites, went out and bought the game and discovered it was straight garbage. I wish someone would have said something at the point of sale.

Tell me this, if the guy told you "Yeah NBA Live is dope!!!" would you have came and posted that story on this site?

To the developer, if you got that info, would you call the store and give the employee a word of praise?

Bottom line is you have to take the good with the bad.

Oh please...there was no agenda here and you guys are looking far too deep into this.

Gimme a break, its not like the clerk lied. NBA 2K is still the better all around game of basketball than Live at this point...lets just deal with it. I Believe NHL 2K10 is superior to EA's NHL 2010 but everyone, including Gamestop clerks, think quite the opposite but that's just the perception out there...

The fact of the matter, like boxing, until you KO the champ, you aint gonna beat it with a close decision by the judges. Live is fun and there are elements that I do enjoy more than 2K but it is still a year or even 2 away from taking the title...if its at all possible.

Keep working at it...The game has made huge strides.

(Jeez Lu-weeze, God knows, you've only about , what, 20 years and quadruple the resource budget over 2K Sports to perfect it?)

            ===================================
Actually, now that I think of it, maybe its a project management issue getting all the resource tracks in the room to get on the same page to deliver a superior product.

Its okay to suggest a game but once the man say no thank you then the sale person should end the sale pitch.

Re: Went to Gamestop to get NBA Live 10, Funny Story

I appreciate the opinion of gamestop employees. I go in to my local gamestop from time to time just to talk to the guys. However I never take their opinion as gospel. I just take what they have to say into account and I form my own opinion.

Most of the time I agree with the guys, but I know especially when it comes to sports games not everyone is looking to get the same thing out of it.

I did a lot of homework before the games were released. With youtube and all the internet resources there is no excuse any longer for going in blind purchasing a game.

If someone were to tell me that Live had great presentation, but horrible gameplay I would know just from playing the demo and doing my research that we won't see eye to eye on this subject because overall Live has poor presentation and great gameplay to me.

Same thing happened to me in Best Buy. This clerk was over my shoulder looking at which game I would pick because they had them side by side and when I picked up Live he said, should have gone with the other one. I said why? He said, because Live too fake. I said, why. He walked away...
