Re: Wheres the post game? Big man are useless.

Early on my biggest problem is keeping the cpu off the glass. I played Bucks vs. the 76ers last night (all-star difficulty) and Dalembert killed me. Dude was grabbing offensive boards and mashing on me.

Right now I'm having trouble trying to play onball defense and helping my cpu players box out and grab boards. I might have to use more off-ball because when I box out I know I will get the boards. I also haven't played with the coaching options for rebounding so I don't know if that will help.

I actaully KILLED a team using shaq in the post with Cleveland. Just kep calling "Post Shaq" and dumping it down. He had his little jump hook going that night and had like 18 pts for me, and abucket load of rebounds.

They started bringing the double and I icon-passed to Mo for three: SPLASH!!!

      Post game works great.

PS - note - The POST if down on the block, NOT the middle of the key. If you try and dribble around down there and dribble down into the key, it WILL get stripped. In this game, you can't pass THROUGH people, and you can't dribble in a crowded key. That's realistic. I love that about this game.

Post game is rewarding this year. No more back down, drop step dribble, slam post moves. It's there, but harder to pull off on a regular basis.

I'm doing just fine with my big men. Also, saying that post moves are generic across the board is short sighted. Guard play/moves are just as generic. Everyone can attempt to do the same things. The difference is speed or strength (for the most part) and that's true to life.

I watched atleast over 25+ gameplay videos also played alot of the demo and I know Live has a nice mid range game and perimeter but the post game does not exist period. You cant even throw the ball down low to any big man in the game without it being a automatic turnover from what i all seen and played. With no auto post button theres a delay in posting up and with everyone having butter fingers more worse on big men they cant do anything. A decent guard will score more and better then any good Big man.

Also I know the post up button is being added in a patch but that doesnt solve much. Im just giving my opinon. I want NBA Live to be great. I bought NBA 2k like always last year then sold it and got Live no because it was good but because I wanted to try something diffrent and knew it would be as good as NBA 2k this year. NBA 2k has no chance this year of getting my purchase. Its between Live for NCAA Basketball if I buy one.
can't agree with you at all..if you think about it if a team crowds the big man down low in a real NBA game and he turns around and tries to do a post move hes gonna fall all over the place and loose the ball that is what is happening in live. If the defensive team decides to not double or crowd the paint you can do alot of things with your big man by using the right stick along with the directional shoot mechanic using your left or right hand. if you drop step to the left the big man can do a hook shot to the rim or against the glass. If you drop step to the right it will be a shot put style of shot and it also depends on where you are in the paint. if you do the same thing about 5 feet out he well do a fade away..and in real life thats what a big out there is gonna shoot anyway..thats not lay up country you feel me?..Im still in shock about how live has really made strides on realsim this year. I lost my second game in my cavs dynasty last night to Toronto because they were killing me with the screen and roll. Chris Bosh and Barnani are their big men but them guys play outside the paint. It showed..because in past live tgames Barnani and bosh would be parked in the paint like Shaq or Howard..them guys killed me from the perimeter last night. and hedo was driving on me becasue shaq was outside guarding their center and Verajo was out of the paint guarding bosh. I switched to a zone D and then colderon got hot off the drive and kick. I lost that game 95 to 83.

I'm still learning how to use the post controls. I am with the grizzles so I have to try to go up against Gasol And KG with Zach Randolph

I had to switch to the baseline high cam to use the post game effectively, and now its pretty damn good to me. You can just see the floor soo much better now and I have no problem at all posting up even with mediocre post players like D. Lee and Curry. Plus with that view there is no lag at all, game plays smooth as warm butter.

I couldn't disagree more, I have killed the cpu at times with a good post player. Drop step, Hop, up and under, fade. I am not sure what else we would need?

**I would love to know what we are missing?

Learn to play the game first. Maybe it's because I got used to the post controls in NCAA '09 last year but on default All-Star I can get Shaq to play like it's 1995.

It's kinda basic, but it's not like you only have two moves. The only nice thing with NCAA 09 was that the two-button shooting system allowed for a few more moves.

yeah I think it comes down to learning how to effectively play down low..Shaq is big and strong but doesn't have handles...a guy like Amarie is Strong with handles..and because of his DNA your gonna have him play the perimeter and down low so that means the CPU A.I. will not crowd the paint for him. Did I just say that about live??..yeah I did. I suggest learning with a center like Yao Ming since he is slow, has a jumper, has a turn around game, but can back down at the same time because he has size. just a thought.

Offensively Zach Randolph is one of the most talented bigs in the NBA. Defense will be a problem though.

I assumed so. The manual seems to indicate that stringing certain flicks and shot fakes together will get you interesting results.

I know last night I pulled off a nice turn around, pump fake into a dunk that I had never done before and couldn't replicate. It was a very nice looking animation that was created off a number of rotations and shot presses.

oh yeah...I did some crazy stuff with Kevin Garnett..I fed him the ball..then I posted up...Kenyon Martin..I hit the right stick to the left(standing on the right baseline)he did one dribble inside..then I hit the right stick again to cross over then a shot fake then I went up for a facial..it just felt right when I did it...AND NO NBA LIVE ICE SKATING EITHER.
