Many times because my player performs such a long layup animation, it exposes him and he gets blocked, when he could have done a quick layup under the hoop to avoid the defense. If a player is right under the hoop, the layup animation should be a simple quick layup rather than some drawn out, overly complex shot (like a double clutch).

Also, there are issues with how animations blend from receiving the ball blending into a layup or dunk animation. When players receive the ball while cutting, there is a pause and they kind of stop moving as they catch the pass. 2k's layup and dunk animations look so quick and smooth because they blend from catching passes to the layup animation seamlessly with no hitch or pause.

Many dunk animations just don't look natural and the player jumps too fast and the arc of the jump just doesn't look right.
I agree with this guy. I think the lay up & dunk animations should be overhauled.

Add some lay-up & dunking signatures for superstars & some players. No more razzle dazzle dunk when dunking in traffic instead a simple but powerful dunk or a lay up.

Re: Official Nba Live 11 Wish List

1.An animation where if a player is wide open for a jumpshot, a lay up/dunk , fastbreak, and before receiving the ball for a post up play he will gesture to his teammate who has the ball that he wants the ball. This will make the game more realistic.

2.Limit the capabilities of big men when it comes to dribbling and fade away jumpshots. Players like Varejao should not be doing some spin moves. Shaq does a fadeaway hookshot but never does a fadeaway jumpshot.

      3. Realistic leaping or jumping ability when in a stationary position. Players like Yao can't jump that high when in a stationary position. Bending of knees to jump as high as possible will be great when in a stationary position. This goes to blocking and rebounding the ball. Same goes for jumpshots when in a stationary position.

      4. Realistic and variety of animations when rebounding the ball. Players in good position who are fighting for the ball will likely do a jumpball and then tip the ball to their teammates when rebounding the ball. I noticed in Live 10 that most of the time the ball goes to the rebounder who has the best position and much closer to the rim.

      5. When a defender is too close to the player who is going to shot the ball, allow a possibility for the defender to strip the ball when the user press the steal button.

      6. More fouls for aggressive defenders!!! If the defender is too close to the shooter and then he jumps first to block the shot, most likely a foul will be called against the defender. I noticed in Live 10 that you can jump to block the ball all you want w/ a very little possibility of being penalized. Good defense is not only done by jumping everytime to contest or make the shot missed. A hand in the face or shading will do the work.

      7. Better Defensive awareness of AI's.

      8. The ability to set a play while in-bounding the ball. Whether in-bounding the ball to the sideline or baseline. Allow the user to select what kind of play he wants when he in-bounds the ball. Like 4 players will fall in line and then each one of them will run in different directions. I saw the Jazz & Blazers did this when they in-bound the ball from the sideline. This is very useful and crucial for the team who is trailing by a shot especially in the remaining seconds of the game because it increases the success rate of in-bounding the ball.

Also the ability to set screens to free a player from his defender so that he can receive the ball properly while in-bounding the ball.

Tip-in-bounding. If .5-.9 secs are left in the clock or in the game. Allow the user do a tip-in while in-bounding the ball. Of course the success rate of it will be low.

They should have full-on animated break-in scenes when a play is already locked into an animation anyway that will end in a bucket.

Think about it, you cross somebody up and you have an open lane to the hoop, you hit tube and square, and the camera angle changes to a wide-angle floor shot as you go flying in for the rim rocking jam!

Not all the time, but occasionally it would be cool.

Re: Official Nba Live 11 Wish List

What NBA Live '11 needs to even be considered:

          1. No canned collissions. You simply cannot program a basketball game to stop momentum running because your defense slides into a guy going full speed.
          A. He either goes through depending on strength rating vs defenders
          B. Or the player goes into a first person view to arch and angle his shot so at least we control the outcome of the shot and not some canned animation.
          C. No more auto-fouls because my guy is next to a guy thats shooting so he automatically jumps into him. Either I choose to defend the shot or not, proximity does not choose for me.

          2. You have to rework post up controls so we can pull off moves we want instead of random moves that we inadvertently create. Shaq's hop stop should be a signature move we can pull off via 1 or 2 buttons

          3. The automatic steals via freestyle passing needs to be taken out, only if the player is facing the ball can he attempt or catch a steal.

          4. Every guard has the same fadeaway and alternative shot. Same with big men. You have to include signature multi-shots.

          5. Defense needs a shadow button.

          6. Pushing and shoving, players cant just effortlessly go through defenders

WOW!!!! The ea team BETTER NOT do this.......your control scheme is ridiculous.

The control layout they have now is just fine....if it's not broke why fix it?

In game hot/cold streaks. This will end the endless amount of bad shots only to end up hitting 7-8 straight with a player. I know players are streaky. But, you cant award 20 bad three point attempts w/ even 7-8 makes. Sorry.

Spectacular performances. Have a rating that causes a player to go ridiculous from 3 or mid range or something that makes super stars dominate games and try for 100 and its triggered by consecutive made shots or just completely random per quarter.

Have people stand on their feet when theres a few seconds left and the game is tied and have intense reactions to game winning shots.

The correct midcourt logo for the Bobcats. It has been wrong for two years, last year a little more understandable.

Have a bar under the player name to see how good of a shooter he is on the court. For example lets say there are 4 bars to fill, well the better shooter he is , the bars should be filled up and if its a poor shooter then it should be at 1 bar and not the 4th bar . It shall increase or decrease depending on the spot of the court. THis would save a lot of time because i like to use random teams and dont really want to go into the scouting report everytime i play a game to learn a team. This would be very useful .

Have a mini-game behind the player close up - camera angle initiation once you drive the lane and gather for a leap to the basket, have it be a meter that you have to hit in the green zone for maximum vertical and another for coordination of the dunk and or hesitation layup.

The defender has the same minigame.

These outcomes will depend on your position and pure physics of weight, height, ratings and location near the rim.

The goal: create spectacular edge of your seats moments that are never the same. As NBA games usually bring about identical results with this gameplay design you have infinite replay ability
