way too many blocks in the game

Last night on 6 min quarters with blocking ability slider at 0, I finished with 9 blocks and the cpu 8.

the next game i played in the first 3 mins me and the cpu each had 3 blocks

did the first patch fix this or what ?

I'm going to try to zero out player block ratings for 2 teams and see how it works. Hopefully we can get realistic block numbers.

agree. more challenged shots has made fg% more accurate but the excessive number of blocks is goofy.

I agree...the blocks can get ugly..but there is a way to avoid getting blocked...don't go up on rebound right away..pump fake or dribble over a little then dunk..those defenders stay hungry for blocks..The blocked dunks...I have no answer for that..I hate that stuff..the patch in november should have a heavy fix for blocks.. what it comes down to is the players having too much jumping ability.. guys can jump out of the arena...

I don\'t want them to tinker too much with the gameplay at all. I don\'t want this to turn into some dunkfest game. I say pretty leave it alone. I will go along with maybe there should be more foul calls inside so big men who grab boards and are looking to go back up with it get can draw some fouls and get to the line a little more often but PLEASE EA do not create a dunkfest in this game. DO NOT DO IT.

^ Agree with you. But 8 or 9 blocks is insane. Can this be patched without making it a dunkfest. If the blocking issue is going 2 be patched I pray that it is not going to be a dunkfest. I prefer fouls so we can get the 21 FT attempts/game that real NBA teams average in real life over a dunkfest any day.

This is my test so far with the kings and the sixers:

upped all foul sliders near max
            blocking ability slider at 0
edited all player block ratings to 0
            took 50 points from every player's vertical rating.If a guy is initially a 45...well he's 0 now

I am 4 minutes into my game now....

            sixers have 4 blocks
            kings have 3 blocks

No roster editing/slider combo can fix this problem it seems

block sliders? i turned blocking down immediately... it's at about 35% for both teams... blocking issue solved.

Re: way too many blocks in the game

But it is a huge problem for little guys who live off of free throws like Allen Iverson, Dwyane Wade, Cp3. Last night I was playing and guys were just racking up blocks because they we're taller then Dwyane Wade, and a lot of the time I'll be on the fast break some big 7ft guy will slide up I'll be in the air and all of a sudden it turns into a contested shot. I miss the layup/dunk with no foul... When we all know those players I just named have no problem drawing fouls Yao Ming blocked my boy A.I. about 10 times in one game I had nothing to say...

Also It's this weird animation where the guy kind of goes up for the shot in a open lane but will all of a sudden drop the ball when EA servers come back up I'll be uploading a few vids to support my post.

hold your horses.....i just realized there are 2 block sliders.

                      general shot block slider
                      and dunk/layup block slider

I will zero both and see what it does

There are way too many blocks...but a lot of it has to do with the lack of fouls.

You can drive the lane and get absolutely hammered by the CPU as they block you / you do the same to them...and even with fouls at max, there's often no call.

I think they did this to make it tough to drive to the hoop / make the game less of a dunk fest...but the penalty has been that there's Charles Oakley like contact from every player in the NBA now in the game when you drive

I haven't seen this too bad yet but that's cause I'm mostly using the jumper-happy Knicks. I know if you keep trying to pound the ball into the lane time after time the CPU will adjust and collapse like crazy, which may also lead to some weird AI quirk where it equates to more blocked shots.

When I drive to the lane I make darn sure that I can make it otherwise like you I stay jumper-happy lol. This is the thing about posting for edits that is dangerous. Someone posts change this yet none of know how this guy plays or what it is he wants to do. I used to get hammered also inside but now I\'m MUCH more selective of what I\'m doing when going inside but I know that I have not come close to mastering the game. Can any of us say that? I think we have to get the game down extremely well to request certain things to be changed. All that being said early on I feel there could be more fouls also. lol. I just DO NOT want a dunkfest.

the problem is on both sides. I'm sure I can lessen my shots getting blocked by playing smarter, less aggressive. But i just finished another game with BOTH block sliders at 0 and I got 11 blocks in 6 min quarters playing as the lakers vs knicks.

If i had a hard time blocking the cpu fine, but if I get good defensive positioning , I get too many blocks. I cant imagine playing 12 minute quarters. Will average 15-20 blocks a game
