This is why we are in need of a real practice mode. These are things I have been wanting to do for a while but I wind up confusing myself more than the D with all the controller work that needs to be done. Not to mention still trying to NOT use the right stick for shots in the lane. I wind up going out of bounds or something stupid.

nice post
again, this is why i believe this game will get a much higher rating once people start understanding the fundamentals and nuances in the game.
i could make similar videos showing how to perform 'layup solutions' to perfection. yet most people i play (including most sim players) do not know how to attack the rim other than just drawing the contact animation. yet no reviews tell about how good the layup solutions control is, either.
and i couldn't tell you how many times i ran the fast break and hit the trailing big man for a beautiful finish at the rim. yet i've never seen this used against me, by anyone. lots of nuance in this game that i think most just aren't aware of.
keep up the good workComment

My question is could you really have made a skip pass to Melo after taking control of Nene? From my experience, you would have had to let go of LT to fully switch to Nene, then Icon switch back to Smith then pass to Melo. That is alot of stuff to do before the rest of the team gets back.Comment

GREAT post! I never thought of using the OBC to this extent. This will add yet another level of depth to the game. Can't wait to mess around with it, tonight.XBL: Mean Greene

Re: Utilizing the off-ball controls in NBA Live 10 with BBallGuru [Video Guide]
Are there any special controls once you're using the off ball player?
Using the off ball player, I tried to set a pick for the ball handler, but he just kept dribbling. It seems like the only way you can use this is to run around and get open for a pass and a shot. I would have hoped that the ball handler would be taken over by the CPU based on DNA, but he isn't . . . oh well . . . still have to practice trying to score. . ."We were expecting a miracle with Elite, but instead we got Jesus at halfcourt."

Once you manually set the screen for the ball handler, switch back to him, if you see him just kind of dribbling around.Comment

I think saying "the only way you can use this is to run around and get open for a pass and a shot" is somewhat oversimplifying things;I've played against many of people online who just take control off an off-ball player and sprint around in circles trying to get an open shot like a moron. There's much more to using it, and that's what I was showing by making this post.
The ball handler isn't a dummy when you let the CPU take control of him, but he isn't going to beat the opponent for you, either. I've played against people online who attempt to repeated steal the ball from the ball handler while being controlled by the CPU, and the CPU will go by them, and if you're paying attention, you'll get an open mid-range shot and don't even have to take control back... just press shoot.
With setting a pick for the CPU ball hander... I'm sort of confused as to why you'd want to do this. Again, this would be asking the CPU to basically do the job for you on offense, and I feel Live 10 has more than adequate controls in the pick-and-roll situation. You can choose between a pick-and-roll or pick-and-pop, and who is setting the screen. I don't know what else more you'd want to do, or feel you could better accomplish by controlling the player setting the pick.
While holding LT, press the button of whomever you wish to take control of, and release the LT before releasing the button you're holding down.Last edited by BBallGuru; 10-15-2009, 01:03 PM.Comment
