    I need serious help

After 1 week the game is already dead for me. It is a very good game but:

Pro difficulty is way too easy (yes, I tried left4deads sliders). Yesterday I won with the grizzlies against the lakers and it was never close.

All-Star difficulty is too heavy. I tried to adjust the sliders but the main problem is that the cpu AI has too many runs and too many easy shots because my teams AI is to stupid to defend. There are no sliders to fix this.

Constructive help needed. Please don't tell me that it is my fault, I'm already frustrated. I can't control all my players at once and if I play with the center I depend on my guards to guard the 3 point line.

    Many thanks in advance

      Re: I need serious help

      Keep at it.

For now, I have a few suggestions.

      1) This game requires you to use every tool at your disposal and all of your players.

The CPU AI will start getting aggressive and will try to shut down your go-to plays and moves, as the game progresses.

Start getting familiar with off ball control.

It is great tool get your mid range shooters, and the guys on your team that are strong cutters and finishers at the basket, the ball in their spots.

---mix up your defenses. Show double teams, play zone for a few posessions, trap the pick and roll, switch things up based on the personnel that is on the court.

I dont think it is possible to play defense consistantly with one player in this game. There are too many things happening. Guys are constantly setting screens for each other, posting up, and trying to make cuts.

The AI is going to recognize what you are doing. If you are patrolling the paint with your C, the CPU isnt just going to come waltzing on in there...its going to exploit what you are doing.

I would say I guard the ball about 85-90% of the time. The only time I do not is when I think that switching to a big man, might take me out of position to chase a rebound. Otherwise, I'm closing out on the shooters, and guarding the ballhandler, as much as I can.

      2) Learn the DNA tendencies and %'s

      --this is vital.

You must know, who can do what, and from where.

Go to your player's strengths, and try to take away your opponent's.

My goal is to get all of my starters their scoring averages. It keeps me focused on running a fluid offense, and using my entire team.

I played against the spurs using the jazz on default all star, and beat them by 11.

I had to withstand a couple of runs, but still was able to win pretty comfortably.

I used a lot of 2-3 zone whenever Manu, Parker and RJ were on on the floor, to try to force them into spot shooters, and tried to collapse on duncan...When the CPU started to attack that by pushing tempo, running backdoor cuts, and popping mid range J's...I would switch back to man.

The CPU is smart, and it is going to require to you to adjust on the fly. It began to sub in Mason and Bonner, as well as put Finley on the floor with Duncan and Manu.

So I had to switch up and play straight man.

Basketball is a game of constant flow..and I think that this game captures that beautifully. If you get statiic in this game, you are D-E-A-D, against the CPU.

Many thanks sportyguyfl31 This was a very good reply

Looks like pretty hard work is ahead of me, but I'm going to focus on the things you mentioned. I'm sure it will take some time.

You are playing on all star level with default sliders? I'm impressed.

in the same boat, i never win on all star and i refuse to play on normal, so basically i had still never win a game (12 min/Q)
But it never fell cheated opposite at the way i feel with 2k.I think i have to stick with a team for the moment and learn them by hart ( plays , personnal).
but i see that is possible to win, just need to work and A LOT of concentration i also need a rehab because there is so much cheesy assisted 2 k defense in my blood ...
i think the main point is to play a lot of on ball D to be succesfull. this game is just taking all my free time right now it s just so deep, very hard to be a sim gamer with a kiddo ...

What sportsguyfl31 and ehh said are exactly right! The more you do these things the better chance you have to win. The big thing with the CPU is closing out on jumpshooters. I played Dallas during the first couple of days when I wasnt switching and putting a hand up. Dirk would catch and shoot EVERYTIME and I could never beat Dallas. Gotta close out and contest shots. The DNA, like they said, is very important.
