Yes any tips would be great on the post up shot timing because its brick city for me. If I can't get a spin off in the post im SOL most of the time.

How do you guys spin out of the post position? I avoid trying it as I seem to lose the ball every time if I even attempt a dribble in the paint.

I really haven't been shooting many of them, though I've been using the Knicks almost exclusively so I'm not doing many old fashion post ups. Based on last year I don't think they are time-based but I could be wrong. Hopefully a dev can chime in.

flick the right stick to the left or to the right to do a spin move

with the hooks, the release seems to be timing based. once the post position is established I put the stick away to shoot the hook.

well when do i need to release on these shots then? sometimes they go in and sometimes they don't whether it be a jump hook, up and under, or watever...are all the hook, jump, whatever shots time released? if so, when is the best time to release so i can improve my accuracy...
                  thanks

                    I believe it's R2 + Square for a hook shot.

                      Re: Hooks in the post?

It seems to me that the standard release point for most shots, especially those in the post, is just before the shooter reaches the highest point in their shot elevation. There is some variance from player to player but that is usually where I start.

how do u execute a hook shot on a consistent basis and NOT a turnaround jump shot? Shot with neutral LS, i alway(s) do a turnaround (360).

Executing the jump hook: back towards defender, press LS toward defender then press shot button...

                            Re: Hooks in the post?

Shoot it at the top of the jump. I tend to believe (maybe wrongly) that the situation that leads to the shot affects it. For instance, imagine you are really duncan. Bump... bump... hook. Where as if you get it and rush it, it might not be as good. Or if you shoot it after someone has bumped you.

As for people who are having trouble losing the ball: if you catch the ball with your back to the basket, it's nearly impossible to lose. I'd say just finesse it, know where you're going and play with the defender a bit. I do this pretty well w/ Beasley or Boozer on the hook.

Trick the game into thinking you're taking an easy shot.

that might be true...It seems like there are certain shots that I always make with Big Al Jefferson, but others I don't. Maybe I need to watch more for those little nuances.
