IS IT ME OR IS ICON PASSING A BIT CLUMSY?

It just isn't as responsive as I would expect it to be. I'm not able to pass to the open shooter more times than not.

My problem is that every other time I try to icon pass I accidentally switch to the player instead of passing it to him. Is there a way to separate those controls?

Held left Trigger + tapped icon = quick pass (be sure to hold LT until pass has been made)

Held Left Trigger + held icon = off-ball movement enabled until icon is released (again, be sure to hold LT until you've released the button and made the pass)

Held Left Trigger + held icon + Releasing LT before releasing icon = Temporary player lock (press A to call for pass, B to call for off-ball screen, Y to call for oop)

Yea I know what the controls are, it's just that I usually screw it up unconsciously, especially when the clock is winding down. Nothing worse than losing a game because you tried to pass to your open man with 2 seconds left but instead you switch to him by accident while frantically slapping buttons.

I think the controls should be further differentiated to prevent screw ups. I'd say half my turnovers in this game come from the controls not doing what I want them to do, and that's a sign of bad controls.

Its definitely clumsy due to the man switch. Too bad cause this is the best way to pass. THere should be an option to turn it off. WHen you play 5 vs 5 it is off and smooth. I always play with atleast one person on my team in VS online and it really sucks and takes away from the great gameplay.

Please give us an option to turn it off!

It was horrible in the demo. I have no problem with it in the retail though. The controls are slightly different so coming from 2k it took a little bit to get used to.

I wish that we could configure the controller to our liking. This would completely alleviate these problems

I thik that they make the icon passing unresponsive on purpose so that you will get use to the freestyle passing. It definitely did that for me, but I'm happy about it because I think freestyle passing is sweet!!

The icon passing may be frustrating when you don't press the buttons properly, but the truth is that if you practice and press everything the right way, you won't get those unwanted screwups. Just practice being more careful with your button presses.

The problem with going back to the old way is that you will lose the off-ball player control which is a great addition and adds a lot of fun to the game. I'd rather keep it the way it is and just be careful with my button presses. Maybe EA could include an option in the settings to turn off the offball control, but I personally love the offball control and would not want them to remove it from the game.

I'd rather have them move off-ball controls to RB + icon and get rid of the quick play thing that I never use.

If they could allow us to fully fully customize controls that would be best.

I like freestyle passing but often times it just doesn't go to the right guy. Practice will help but it's fundamentally difficult because the analog stick is small and thus it's hard to dial in a precise angle. I only really use it on drives and use icon passing most of the time otherwise.

same with me, I've had problems before with accidently switching to off ball rather than passing out. getting better now, past few games I've specifically worked on just barely tapping the button. I think when it's a critical play I tend to mash the button and then I switch off-ball. maybe they could adjust later the threshold they use to determine whether a button's tapped and held.
