how to use defensive pressure the right way?

    Hi,

yesterday I played the thunder in miami...i put the presserue to wade "high"...haslem to "loose" and o'neal "medium" but wade killed me...and there was no help d when wade cut in the zone...except my d with durant...

so my question is how will I have to use the pressure to make the life for the best opponent player hard...I'm not talkin about a complete shut down...I just want to make it harder for the cpu

When I play a team that has a player that likes to drive I either play him normal or loose depending on who it is because I'd rather give them J and turn them into a jump shooter than to play them tight giving them the ability to drive. You gotta remember TIGHT pressure doesnt mean your gonna lock down the offensive player when you set them to be guarded tight. Its all in your personnel and there defensive ratings such as on ball defense. So remember that when your adjusting your defensive settings.

Yea the other day I was playing the Nets and they were getting to the basket on a regular basis with Devin Harris at PG. Then they kicked it out to Lee on the wing and hit a few 3s early in the game.

This is what I did and ended up causing some chaos and forced them to change up their tactics. It worked and gave me a convincing win by 16 points.

        1) First I saw Harris was their main go to guy to get to the lane which was causing my D to converge on him in the paint allowing the kick out. First, I put Loose coverage on him. Then forced a double team everytime he had the ball. He would come down the court and get swarmed and forced to dish it out and try and make something happen with his other players.

        2) I put Tight coverage on Lee, knowing he was his shooter. Lee was not going to blow by me unless it was off a pump fake. He ended up going like 4/10 from 3 land. With 3 of those coming BEFORE I did the change.

Two very small changes but made BIG impacts. I did the same thing the other night against the Spurs. But instead I played Parker loose to prevent the drive. Then I doubled Duncan everytime he got the ball.

Important thing to take notice is taking their key players out their game is what you are trying to do. Force the ball into bench and non-key players hands.
