I realized that you don't wanna really use the DA button at all unless you are trying to locate whom it is you should be guarding. Other than that keep your finger off the button. This will give you better ability to keep up with the guards etc as they are running to different spots beyond the 3pt line and also put you in a better position to actually jump and contest the shot instead of just putting your hand up. If your using the DA button and you try to jump and block a shot right after your only gonna put your hands up.
Most people will cross back and forth to create space or drive so while your guarding someone give them just a little space and watch what hand they are dribbling with and as they cross back to the other hand you wanna cut them off and you'll get those body up animations automatically (Some guards have such good handle that because your upon them so close they'll get the blow by animation as they try to cross back to the other hand, that's where your help defense comes into play; make sure you have guys like Kobe, Carter and such with good drive ability atleast set to Auto but NEVER No unless your gonna double them using a off ball player yourself). The direction you push the L stick to cut them off is contextual to the camera angle your using (I use broadcast).
Players such as Nelson and Mo Will and etc you wanna crowd them and actually give them the lane so they'll decide to drive and not shoot the 3 and allow your help D to do their job. But not so with players like Carter and Kobe.
But my suggestion is to not use the DA button as not using it will put you in a better position to defend and also allow you to get off the ground and contest and block shots much more quicker.
Sidenote: I've played about 5 games today so far and they ALL have been the Magic. I think I've acquired the swine flu as I'm sick to my stomach of playing this team. I've ate some Nuggets, my bad I mean I've played the Nuggets so much I got the stomach flu. What happened to the other 30 or so NBA teams????????
