There should have been a shot option this year...

For years, Live went with percentage-based shooting.
Many guys on the other side desperately wanted timing-based shooting.

I have no problem with that, but why not give us the option: "timing" or "percentage-based" shooting?

I am having no end of misery with Hedo Turkgolu ... and all I want him to do is play like he does in the NBA.

Different shot animations make timing based shooting a pain in the rear.

Again, I understand the move to timing-based shooting, but there really should have been an option for both.

Maybe you're playing with the new updated dna rosters that were released, in which case all shot percentages and ability ratings are off. THe reason I ask this is because I don't remember you posting about this before Saturday. But like I posted in one of your other threads, I've had some guys (online) knocking down every shot they take with Turk but I can't say I've seen it since the dna update. All I can think of is that you're playing with updated dna rosters that are inaccurate.

so you changed your dna download option to "off"? Because as far as I know you don't have to agree to the dl. I loaded up the game on Saturday, walked away for 3 minutes and when I came back, they were downloaded. Default setting have dna dl set to "auto".

I saved a set of rosters early on to reflect my Raptors rotation.
I never use the DNA rosters.

I believe in the timinig based side is better because it shows a users skill....instead of the players choosen. Timing based releases require skill.

I'm outta reasons then. All I can think of is user error. I mean I've seen guys use the raps and light me up with Turk. It's gotta be your timing.

its based on both. it's % based and timing base. practice dave. practice.

It is based on both. While i do like that timing factors into shot success, i am not a fan of the execution in Live 10. There are multiple theories from posters (arch of the back, hitch in the shot) and the devs (top of the jump) but none seem to result in any sort of regular success in my experience.

Re: There should have been a shot option this year...

The bigger problem is that there's no indication either way whether you missed because of a timing issue or because it was a shot from a bad area/DNA-influenced. If they had a practice gym and brought back the release timing from 09 (red bar that turns green when it's the perfect release), I wouldn't have a problem with it.

As it stands right now, you're just left wondering if it was a DNA thing or if you screwed up the release. Especially since there are 3 or more jumpers for each player this year that all have different timing... kinda inexcusable to not let us practice the releases and give real feedback on them that we can use to improve our timing. You can sort of get an idea of a particular release playing in the Hangar or in Dynasty practice, but it's a pain to go through all that and still not DEFINITIVELY know whether you have the timing right. Badly-timed shots go in too, so it's not like they only fall when perfect.. makes it even more complicated to tell what you did wrong.

I've been shooting in the 30% range since I tend to jump around from team to team and the releases and DNA are so different for all of them. Just kinda frustrating to do that and not have an avenue to explore to see if you're doing something wrong.

You beat me to it, word for word, twilight zone!!!

We need FEEDBACK from our shots and a practice gym. Post this in the wishlist or patch threads...

I would have like that option to see are release point on players. It would be nice if you could pick your favorite team to be in the hanger so you could shoot around and practice without going in dynasty mode.
