See my post above...and, yes, it's not that bad.

I am talking about locking guys down on the perimeter...physically forcing players to go in different directions...and your actions actually affecting their shot %.

At the moment, all you can really do is put a hand in a shooter's face...and, as everyone has pointed out, the DNA and ratings have more of an effect on whether that players shot is going in than the D you just played.

And also i've read somewhere over here that you can't play d with ak 47 if i'm not mistaken? well the last time Kiri was playing real basketball was at 2007 european championship with his national team other than that he is not ak 47 that we think anymore with the way he plays for the last 4-5 years so it's normal not being able to play with d, try with Brewer you'll see a difference or choose a specific guy and let brewer lock the guy down you want him to.

Well I've got pretty satisfying moments with the d plays out in this game, that's why i'm that fanatic about it, no offense.

There is a well known bug about the 3pt shots from the corner obviously in that still you can do other things to stop it but other than that you can stop everything if you make it right on d, plays the way real life plays you can pretty much do everything a bball d mnded player can do.

I believe you should go deeper and give some more time to the game if you can.

Those are good comments Ataman.

I see where you're coming from. I am hoping the issues I've got + Ehh and GSW have are addressed though. I also hope the CPU post D is addressed (see vid in suns v jazz thread).

The footwork and anticipation etc is great.

Maybe the other stuff will be post patch.........hopefully

Yeap i've seen that ,i really do aggree with you on that, there should be some other things to get into calculation by backing up definetely.

I'm always on the side of improvement, hopefully the improvements will be on the direction of simheads for the coming years.

Welcome back to another look at Dynamic DNA updates from NBA LIVE 10. Last week had a number of exciting games with great individual performances. As the season progresses we’ll continue to look at the players who have been playing well this season with DNA scouting reports to back up their performances.<!--more--> This week’s edition of Dynamic DNA updates will feature players from the Eastern Conference so let’s begin by taking a look at one of the players who has helped his team to the top of the conference, Vince Carter.
The Orlando Magic are perched right at the top of the conference and Vince Carter’s contributions have been of great help to his team. Looking at his DNA scouting report it’s easy to see what his favorite and most effective weapon of choice has been this season, his jump shot. When Vince has the ball in his hands 67% of the time he’s looking to score with his jump shot. These aren’t the early days of Vince Carter’s career where he would attack the basket with reckless abandon and look to crown a defender with a scintillating dunk, Vince is primarily a jump shooter now and a pretty good one at that.


Breaking down his jump shots this season, Vince hits 44% of all his jump shots which is 8% better than the shooting guard average of 36% in the NBA this year. Going into more detail with his jumper he’s shooting a solid 42% from mid range, 43% from three point land and a phenomenal 59% from short distance. All of Vince’s shooting stats are better than the NBA shooting guard average. While his overall season statistics don’t scream MVP material (currently he’s averaging 19.7 points per game and 2.8 assists per game), his contributions have been valuable to the Magic and the team are playing great basketball with Vince in the lineup.
When talking about the Eastern Conference, leaving out Dwayne Wade from the discussion would be disrespectful. Dwayne has been looking good so far this season, he’s not leading the league in scoring as he did last year (averaged 30 points per game last season) but his current average of 27.1 points per game (to along with his 6.1 assists per game) is still very good. The Heat have come back to reality after their hot start to begin the season (currently the Heat are sitting at 11-9) but as long as Dwayne Wade has the ball in his hands anything can happen. When you think of D-Wade you think of him slashing towards the basket with lightning speed (hence the nickname “Flash”) and coming through with a spectacular finish.

Looking at his current DNA he is more likely to drive left to the basket than drive right when he is in the perimeter. However, when D-Wade drives right he finishes at the basket with a slightly higher percentage than he would on the left. Either way you look at it Dwayne Wade is attacking the basket from the perimeter he is finishing at a high percentage. You wouldn’t expect anything less from the former NBA Finals MVP.
With the upcoming group of free agents in the summer of 2010, one player that has been receiving a notable amount of attention has been Chris Bosh of the Toronto Raptors. Unfortunately for Bosh, his Raptor teammates have not provided the help that he needs as often times Bosh has had to carry the load by himself. Up to this point of the season Bosh is averaging 24.4 points per game and is second in the NBA with rebounds per game with 12.1. He has been a force in the low post but he can also show off his range with a very solid jump shot. Taking a look at his DNA when Bosh is in the low post he’s more likely to face up a defender then turn left or right when posting up. When he faces up a defender in the post he hits 53% of his shots compared to just 19% turning left and 28% turning right.


Chris Bosh over the years has developed a very good jump shot. Besides already possessing a strong post game, to compliment his post game with a solid jump shot that he has developed over the course of his NBA career has made him an even more complete player. Looking at his jump shot DNA, Bosh hits 42% of all jump shots that he puts up. When breaking down his jump shot data he’s hitting 35% of short distance jump shots, 41% from mid range and is shooting an amazing 71% from three point distance (Bosh doesn’t take many three point shots, however when he does they go in at a VERY high percentage). If Bosh could get some help the Raptors could have a better record than their current 9-13 mark. They still need to address their concerns on the defensive end as they surrender the second highest amount of points per game (109.84 points per game) despite being oen of the top scoring teams in the NBA (fourth highest scoring team in the NBA with 105.68 points per game).
When taking these guys or anyone of your favorites into NBA LIVE 10, it’s important that you take the time to read the DNA scouting report. If certain players aren’t hitting their shots when you’re in the game, it’s not because the game is scripted it’s because you didn’t take the time to read the DNA scouting report. If your favorite player has problems hitting mid range jump shots it’s because he’s not hitting those shots in real life. If you’re trying to post up and you’re not successful going in a certain direction it’s because that player is not having that success in real life. NBA LIVE 10 is driven by what is going on in the real NBA season. Take the time to read the DNA scouting report so you can figure out how to best use your favorite NBA players. Remember the best teams in the NBA take the time to prepare for their opponents, if you want that same success in you need to do the same.

Hey Ataman good post, but have you played the Hawks on superstar. Watch how Johnson, Bibby and Williams light you up. Johnson plays like Jordan, Williams should be an all star and Bibby shoots better than Bird. They hit crowded and contested shots at an alarming rate.

I feel the defence doesnt mean that much, the only way to make them miss is to block their shot. This makes you anticipate the shot which leads you to either jump too early (without them pump faking) or jump too late that results in a foul. You should be able to make them miss just by being in their space taking away the open look.

Once I was guarding Bibby and was practically kissing him and he shot this jumper that went in. He just went straight up and his arms and ball warped through me. When watching a real game you will see Bryant often free himself up through a screen or shake before he shoots. Yes he hits contested shots but not at a high rate and Bibby, Johnson or Williams aint no Kobe Bryant.

Bosh is a monster in this game right now. I have such good success with both his low post play and mid-range shots. Playing as the Raps in dynamic season is pretty fun, even though they suffer defensively a bit.
Too bad the stats and lineups from last night's game v. the T-Wolves wasn't up this morning for Rewind play! I had the Huskies jerseys ready to go, but the lineups were wrong :-(

Melo last night, 12-17 from shots in the paint. 17 of his 22 FGA were in the paint. He's gonna be a problem in the next update.

I go with the regular starters and try to change-up my D tactics now and again. Rasha is OK, and so is Amir, but usually I just try and outscore my opponents, just like the real life Raps!

The last few games I have played the CPU has played much better than before. Works the ball around + not shooting immediately. The DNA seems to really be imrpoving the game.

Don't know who's doing appearance edits now that Marcus is gone but for the Knicks if you could add a white shooting sleeve on the right arm to Danilo Gallinari and a black one on the left arm of Chris Duhon it'd be appreciated.
