After playing a bunch of 2K for the past week, it makes me appreciate these two things about Live a lot more than I did before.

Funny that EA was getting hammered on not delivering what they promised but I do recall them touting more than anything else that we would like the shooting in the game. And they definitely delivered on that. I am a little scared that they may do something drastic with driving in the game because once you know what you are doing driving to the hole and defending it is great. That being said Lebron is getting away with murder now in the game. You can run in there pull out , run in, pull our rinse and repeat and he wont turn it over at all.

Love the floor spacing, plays, shooting, and defense. Dont get rid of it just build on it. Also the dna is great and i know it wont go any where but make is viewable in game. Maybe use the left slot on the in game menu that has nothing their by pressing the d pad left.

          I can just agree here.

Floor spacing and Halfcourtgame are outstanding

Off Ball Movement is the first time this year I am actually (successfully) using it.

Shooting is beautiful, from the animations, to the control to the variety, it's crazy!

Passing options are incredible, however they do confuse me every once in a while. (I actually forget that freestyle passing exists every once in a while).

Play Calling: The easiest, yet most realistic and with the most options. Moreover the way your team executes the plays. Quick, beautiful, efficient!!!

Differentiation between bigs and smalls...very good, but yet far from perfect.

Not gameplay related but THE CROWD...god this is as good as being in the arena!!! One of the big big reasons I still own this game, although I can just play exhibition games and despite the huge flaws!!!

I still believe that EA will be the first team to deliver me an outstanding basketball simulation, something I never had up to this point!!!

Re: Positive aspects (Solely gameplay related)

I do agree with most of the comments:

            - The play sets & Play calling: team specific and easy to do

            - dribble moves/right stick: beautiful, silk, simple, easy and realistic, not 'overdone'. Calling an ISO to play a 1v1 with your best guard and using the right stick is terrific!

            - In fact, if you combine thiat with another outstanding feature: the manual on-ball defense, you could have a lovely minigame mode: the old One on One (yeah, like that old Dr.J. vs L.Bird game in commodore64)
EA, take note of this, it would be a great multiplayer mode (both offline and online)
You cannot enjoy something like that with other BBall games because of the lack of feeling in the controls, but with Live it would be great.

            - off ball control: I used it a lot first, but lately, I'm getting used to 'read' the flow of the plays, and don't even need it most of the time

            - Freestyle passing: this is a MUST for any BBall game. Beating your guy, driving to the paint, and when the help defense comes, passing QUICKLY and INTUITIVELY the ball to your open mate is bliss!

            - pick'n'roll: is not perfect, but at least is not an exploit.

            - Court spacing and help defense: you're right EWRMETS

            - overall pace of the game: for me the lack of fastbreaks is not an issue. I get my share of fastbreaks when I really deserve it, for example after a steal or a block. Besides I also can make a fast transition for a quick shot. And I don't feal cheated by the CPU like in previous Lives where you could see Yao finishing a fastbreak against you

            - shooting: perfect

            - no easy baskets: you cannot abuse with you star driving into the paint for easy dunks.

So, heey, looks like a long list of things very well done by Live10, doesn't it?
I'm really enjoying the game and I must say I've never been a livefanboy or similar.

I love Live10 not only for the things that makes right, but also for all the crazy horrible cheessie things that doesn't allow you to do.

Pretty much everything everyone else has mentioned. Just adding my voice.

              I particularly love...

OFFBALL CONTROL. This was amazing, (dare I say revolutionary) effectively giving me control of the team/playmakers (rather than me and 4 AI players). Totally changed the way I play ball. Just running my shooter to an open spot for a catch and shoot is a joy.

              FREESTYLE PASSING. Very fluid.

                  • Playbooks/Running plays - by far the best in a basketball game to date
                  • Player movement/momentum - you have total control of what's going on with your guy and momentum is big for rotations etc.
                  • Player controls (I hope they don't change a single control cept to add lead passing and overhaul the post controls on offense, D could add some things). R-stick dribble moves, OBC, freestyle passing, layup solutions are the highlights.
                  • Court spacing: draw n kick game, ability to get true open looks, phenomenal mid-range game. Live nails this 100%. My favorite aspect of the game and why I keep playing it.
                  • Rotations, help D and recovery
                  • Players planting and stepping into shots on leaners, fadeaways, step backs, etc. As a whole the footwork on all types of jumpers is great.
                  • Ability to play D with just the L-stick. Staying between your man and the basket, anticipating moves and cutting guy's dribbling lanes off is pretty sweet. Plus beating a guy to a spot and jamming down the R-stick to take a charge is awesome.
                  • Blocks - with sliders tweaked, post-patch the blocks are pretty badass and a defender always makes solid contact with the ball.

When the user has the ball I have very few complaints, a better transition and post game are the two biggest issues to me.

Re: Positive aspects (Solely gameplay related)

Love how you play D. It seems more cerebral than how fast you can be with the sticks.

I've never been great at getting steals (i.e. twitch gaming). Though that is still in the game if you can take advantage of it.

                          - This game rewards good positional play. I can't stress enough how cool this is. You wont see a block or steal every possession, however...
over the course of the game if you simply play the percentages (close out on shooters, deny the lane to drivers etc) you are going to finish up on top.

                          - This game rewards making intelligent defensive adjustments. I love playing the first half, evaluate what's working and what's not and making changes accordingly.
It's a fantastic feeling late game when you suddenly shut down their main scoring avenue and suddenly you've caught up with an 8-0 run.

Or alternately you can have a specific goal from the outset (e.g. Double Team Duncan, force him to kick out to shooters). Then they will adjust, so you make further changes and so it goes on.

I suppose I just love the 'armchair coach' part of the game. It's very satisfying.

-Offense is the same, knowing when it's time to push the offense or when to slow down, use the clock, run plays and try to get good shots.
Running the same play will feel different each time you run it...
e.g. You are running a post play...
                          - first time the post guy is in good position for an easy two.
                          - next time he's well covered and the entry pass is intercepted.
                          - next time he's receives the ball but is too far out and needs to kick it out.
                          - next he kicks it out of the post, the defenders move accordlingly, you pass it back to him for an open lay up.
                          - next he's double teamed and you use that to find the open man
                          - and sometimes the entry pass is poor and ends up out of bounds.

Sorry, I got ramblin' a bit there. Anyway, that's some of the things I like about the game.

[/.quote]

I take you like the game some what,LOL. I like this game as well, have not played it in a while because I can't seem to put NCAA down long enough to get back into it just yet. Everything that you said is why I enjoy playing this game and it took me only 2 days with 2k10 and it was traded in for NCAA. EA has really step up in both Live and NCAA this year.

Best online game since CH2k8. You run into cheese (expected, no reason to be upset about it anymore), but, good bball iq can get you a win. At this point, if positives don't outweigh the negatives for you...your just making yourself upset when you play. No need for that, too many other games to play.
