    Re: *DELETED*

Hah! This thread reminds me of my very first post on OS!:

"Live fans who want realism, so noble yet so ridiculous"

"First, live fan, I feel your pain
I too have been a EA fanatic since Bulls/Lakers genesis (like we all love to say) but here is where we part ways. NBA Street actually outsold both Live and 2k last year and so unfortunately, EA has abandoned us. There is no excuse for the absolute absence of any type of reality in this years version and no amount of tweaking can save it. Yes its fun. Yes the graphics have made a HUGE leap over last year.
But they took out the walk animation. Think about that for a second. Some guy who has probably never been to an NBA game, decided that no one in the league walks the ball up. LOL And while he had the great ideas flying, he also decided that Vlade could swipe at the ball from behind Shaq and make him drop the ball and stumble forward like he took a shotgun blast in his back!? ( better hit the weightroom big fella). Now I know live fan is livid right now and ready to reply but hear me out, I'm really on your side. I applaud MT NUTTS for trying to pound this game into reality, but he can't re-add the pass fake(like the walk-up, an animation that they already had but decided was too.. uhh realistic) and its time EA stepped up and took back its title. Please give US a realistic sim and give the arcade kiddies a 5-on-5 mode on NBA Street..........."

I got hammered because there IS a "walk" animation and a "ball-fake" animation. DUH. Anyway, I've always been a huge Live fan, so like every year i'll buy it and give it a week but honestly, EA sports hasn't pushed for realism over fun-factor for some time now. I'm hopeful, but I don't expect much.

BTW the reason there are so many people on this board who like 2K/ID over Live is simply because the majority of posters here are hardcore sports fans. Most hardcore sports fans want their game of choice to play as realistically as possible. Live may have been fun, but realism clearly took a back-seat to "freestyle" over-the-top gameplay. I sure hope Live is headed back to being more of a sim this year.

Well I'd comment on something other in your post but the walk animation is in the game. Have you even played it? If you press the move button softly you walk, and the harder you press it, the faster you will move. In my opinion, that makes a lot more sense then wasting an entire button on walking, which is rarely done in the NBA.

I am not hammering LIVE btw fella's. Just pointing out the facts, that EA has gone miles away from a simulation...and who are we to blame them, as that's what sells.

I am just happy that ID and 2K at least are trying to give us a sim.

I guess, worst case scenario, LIVE's sales figures are so good...that they all go 'arcade'. I hope not.

Yes, Live 2004 looks better...and real stadiums is a start...but Live isn't marketed at hard core fans (unlike madden), so I am not too hopeful.

In my ideal world, all games go hard core sim.

We have nba street for fun...so there's no need for arcade NBA games.
