Steals?

So after not playing Live for at least a month in favor of the amazing Demon's Souls, I've tried Live again on PS3. Thanks to the patches the game seems to have less rediculous FG shooting by the CPU.

However, there seems to be a severe lack of steals at my side. Ever since I got this game, I have the impression that the only thing that matters is crancking up the help defense so that CPU passes get intercepted. In other words, playing the game on anything lower than All-Star makes Steals a very rare thing (I'm currently trying to get better again at the game on Pro since All-Star seems to difficult). Manual stealing seems to result in a foul very often, even when I do it with someone like Kobe, who's averaging over 2 steals a game in real life.

Is anybody with me on this? Are you getting somewhat right stats?

Ive been having the same trouble, man. NBA teams average 7.5 steals per game and I can hardly get 3. Im experimenting now with user steal and interception all the way up and CPU hands on perimeter, hands in post, and pass accuracy pretty low. Ill let you know if I find something that works. Offensive rebounds need work too.

They were pretty bad out of the box.
First patch made them decent.
Second patch put them back to out of the box.

Yeah - the steal controls are garbage in Live 10 - they really need to fix it in Live 11. The CPU seems to be able to pull of steals constantly, but for a human-controlled player it's almost impossible to get a steal. The main problem is that there are no "moving steal animations." There is only one steal animation - where your player just stands still and swats his hand. There are no animations that allow you to "jump and steal" or "lunge and steal." They need "contextual steal animations" that fit the situation. Like if a big man has the ball inside and you come over and try to poke the ball away from him. they also need to add "poke from behind" steal animations so you can try to poke the ball out from behind the ball handler.

To my amazement I just had 8 steals with the Lakers against the Knicks on All-Star, but it had nothing to do with me doing great things manually. It was just because I had a momentum and the CPU was giving a couple of bad passes. I think I tried to manually steal a handful of times, which resulted 2 times in a foul and 1 time in a steal with Gasol. So the point is, you aren't in control, steals just seem to happen. That definately needs some change if you ask me.

1 thing I just found is turning up on ball D about +20 global edits helps. I play with AI hands also at 0. If you do it global for all teams you will need to turn up hands up on perimeter and post some depending on how ell your handles are.

I have seen an overall improvement but I am still working on them hoping I will get it right tomorrow. I will edit the roster post when I am done of your interested in trying it out.
