My exact sentiments. When EA uses those type of words, they actually take on a whole new meaning...smh

This is some serious news. I wonder in what "direction" they are planning on going. If they went the arcade route they will have even worse numbers in regards to sales then this year.

Maybe the NBA Jam inclusion had something to do with the direction they are looking to go in.

This whole talk of EA heading in a new direction worries me more with Madden than Live because at least with Live there's an alternative.

Does anyone get the feeling EA, corporately, is more involved with Madden and Live because they're more mainstream sports in the United States? Then games like NHL and FIFA play much better as a result, perhaps? This hit me when I read the Mike Wang quote on so many people wanting to go in different directions. Am I the only one who's thought this?

Talk of another directional change is a real turn-off for me. I like more sim-style games and Live 10 played a really strong game of hoops with default sliders, imo. I'd really be sad if all the progress they made was scrapped in favor of a more arcade-like game.

Let's keep an open mind at the same time. What's the criticism of Live and Madden been? Too much of an arcade feel. Maybe they're going all out to be like a sim. I hope a game like MLB 09 The Show serves as a model ... to include the little things that supplement a great gameplay experience.

this videogame thing is pretty simple..make a good game, and people will buy.

You can dumb is down and make it arcadey, and think that will make buy.....but it won't.

EA should know this by now.

Not really that simple, given that Live 10 was WAY better than 09 and sold worse. They might sell more copies if they made another quality NBA Street (or NBA Jam, as it were) honestly, which is depressing on a very high level.

But the thing is Live 10 is already sim!

Well obviously if you make crap for 4-5 strait years, then make a great game, you're not gonna turn things around right away.

It took you a while to get into the whole, andm you gotta dig yourself out

Thanks to these statements, I'm know 99% sure that NCAA Football will suck again, and that makes me sad

That's the funniest thing, with Live 10 they FINALLY started to turn things around after years of sucking. A lot of hardcore 2Kers finally made the switch to Live this year. So EA finally breaks through that threshold and what do they decide to do? Break from that course and change things.

I understand that for EA sales is the bottom line. But your numbers are not going to increase dramatically in one year when you've put out a horrible basketball game for a decade. Consumers aren't going to trust you and you can't win back their trust easily, especially when you consider the stunt they're pulling from '10-'11.

At this point it seems like EA's strategy is to try a different "style" of game for Live every year until they find one that sells. A horribly idiotic plan.

Wow this basically killed my optimistic mindset for this Dev team. If they're not looking to create complete sim then what are they doing.

I hope that the EA dev team is looking to improve upon the foundation set in Live 10 and not go in a different direction again because that will just throw away all the work they have done since Live 07. And doing that will not benefit them at all.

Hell, they probably don't even know. As a I mentioned above it looks like Live is going to bounce around from year to year until they find a "shtick" that sells. Problem is they aren't going to find one with that strategy.

Ugh man I hope what your saying isnt right because I have no desire to go back to 2K right now just too many things I dont like.

Live 10 did a lot of great things with the control scheme and half court game, if they abandon this I dont know where I'm going to next year in terms of bball. I may take a year off if 2K continues to move in the same direction and EA moves in some other direction other then sim.

I agree, I couldn't play 2K9 or 2K10, the controls and movement need some major work before I buy a 2K game again. Hopefully Wang was responsibly for layup solutions and a lot of the control improvements we saw in Live 10 and will bring that to 2K11.

When it's all said and done though I'll probably be sticking with CH2K8 yet again next winter.
