Live Next Gen The Series and it's Direction!

I'm creating this thread to show how they began their series on the current generation systems and how they went up and down in the series as another year passed.

Video 1: Live 06! Sorry I just realized that when I made this I had my custom player at PG. LOL! oops!!!

Nice!!! Nba Live 07 was a huge step backwards from Nba live 06.

Nba live 06 had some nice dunks and layups. I wouldnt mind seeing a lot of those dunks in nba live 11. The only thing i hate about 06 is the players look as if they rubbed each other with baby oil.

      Live 07 was an atrocity.

the series is progressing well IMO

Call me nuts, but I liked the load menu, pre game intro and the look/sound of the arenas in NBA Live 06, the best out of all of them

Thanks for the vids. Didn't play 06, 07 or 08. Intros for 07 were great.

I see the poor CPU AI has plagued all the next gen versions of Live.
Magic and Noles,Knights that are gold, these are a few of my favorite things...

It looks like the best thing in '07 was the intro! They could bring that back but scrap the rest of the gameplay! Straight poop!!

Thanks for the feedback guys, keep it going ..

The remainder of the videos have been added.

I hope a developer can chime in and give his feedback on the advancements and disappointments from 06 to 10.

It's tough to go back and critique previous games as a developer. I only worked on 09/10. All I can say is nobody wants to make a bad game, but sometimes the best intentions and the best feature ideas don't turn out the way you hoped. That said, I'm really proud of 10, and we are doing some really cool stuff for 11.

I played all of them but 07. 2K7 was just amazing so i didn't mess with 07. I'm still having a blast with 10. Just for 11 don't change to much. It just needs stuff added to it. 10 brought back the Fun in playing basketball i have not had since 2k7. Stuff needs to be tighten up like layups/dunk.I'll just love Sig moves added to make players don't fell the same like they do now. So Post moves/Sig moves/Layup/dunk work on and Rebounds fix and i will be fine.

Yep no kidding there. Looks like all the enemies from RE5 were put into Live 06 and given NBA uniforms.

Live 07 was HORRIBLE. Marcus told me the devs still have the email I sent them about that game. They completely abandoned that game after release.

Live 08 didnt do much for me. The disco floors didnt help either. People would just run to those spots all day to shoot.

The problem with Live on next gen is no consistency from game to game, and the removal of features, and other things along with the AI94 Genesis coding in both 06/07. Also not fixing issues still prevailant from 06 to to 10 still being there.
NBA Live is the epitome of Cancel Culture..

One thing is for sure on all the videos. It's the same exact commentary!

The presentation and commentary needs to be completely redone!

Coming to you live from Staples, coming to you live for Madison Square Garden.

Kill this commentary all together and re-record.....We need a fresh and dedicated commentary team. These guys are dry and played. It's been the same since PS2 and original Xbox....time to start over already.

Hey iminurbase , first of all thank you for getting the promise done, I am starting my dynasty real soon, thank you.Secondly, I want to point out that 04-05 maybe 06 were the greatest at all times, I had more fun with those games even more than 2k7-2k8. iminurbase, I think there are a few things really need to add back to this game, I really like the introduction of players every game, giving credits to the starters is important! I rmb in my dynasty in 05, I really care about my starters because they are the ones that get their names called, I love that! Also, I am not quite sure if adding all those DNA stuff is a good idea, I don't exactly know how much it affects the game play or how the players play in comparsion to their reality, but I mean 04-05 doesn't have any of those, they play fine....now these DNA stuff is so complicated that I can't even create any players myself...I was going to do my highschool team, but those tendencies stuff are just way too complicated to touch, I want the game to be more simple! Dynasty is another thing, that really needs work on, I never touched the Dyanmaic dna season this year, I don't like it, its just me, but I hope the basic gameplay of a basketball game will be looked at the most, thats all I got!

BTW!!! DNA is a great addition and with it's second year, it is a part of NBA Live series. And the development team shouldn't stray away from that. It's original and might not work for a lot of people, but it does work for others. It's hit and miss depending on what your actually seeking to get out of it.

Overall from what I can see of the use, it works fine for me in Dynamic Season. The mode that is video basketball crack!!!

DS is the truth and I love every moment of every game, even the ones where I can my arse handed to me from the CPU.

Firstly, the devs SHOULD be proud of Live 10. It is a great game, having progressed in areas where no bball has come close.

Stick with it, keep it as the platform to now build upon.

Most of the other games previous were pretty terrible though. But I will say... buying a 360 on launch day and getting Live 06 I was pretty blown away. Yeah it was bare bones, had a dodgy frame rate but for me it was the first time (thanks to a new tv on 360 launch day as well) that I'd played a console game in HD and the models looked great for back then. I really enjoyed it for a game that was starting from scratch. It's just a pity the next couple sucked.

I do agree with the commentary though. I think EA should still keep those two but just add a few more guys and have them randomly change with every game. Other sports (Cricket for example) have done it so there's no reason why a bball game doesn't. And everyone and their dog on these forums knows how fu**ing frustrated I am with the arena announcer STILL being there since Live 1997... that there is the biggest thing to be ashamed of if you are a Live dev.

But the biggest thing that annoys with Live is that at one stage or another, they have actually had most aspects of the gameplay nailed ... just never in the same year. And what must add to this annoyance (especially for diehard Live fans and probably even the devs) is that they have been responsible for creating most of the ideas for bball games and not 'borrowing' them from competition.

All in all I'd say Live has been a disappointment this gen but Live 10 was one of the most, if not the most enjoyable bball games I've played so I still will be looking out for 11.

I'm officially worried about the series for 11. I gotta be honest, it's slipping off the radar for me. Not just about the recent personnel news but things I'm seeing in the game itself. I play strictly online right now and I'm seeing alot of "2K9" in this game slowly creeping in. I use the Knicks and I'll see loose balls roll right past my guys, and I mean so close the ball is practially rolling on their feet and all my guys just walk, literally WALK SLOWLY towards the ball but NEVER make attempts to get it. Meanwhile the other team is scrapping and hustling to get a ball 20 feet away from them. You guys need a threshold with ratings because right now there is a certain threshold where this game breaks and doesn't look realistic at all.

See all things being equal the cpu should look to have an outcome for the game , all things being two users playing the same way with the same skill level, but when one of those things is skewed the cpu should not be looking to force an outcome. I've seen rebounders let the ball hit the ground and bounce right into their chest and they dont even raise their hands. They do all this boxing out just to stand there and let the ball go wherever. I've, on more than one occasion, have literally seen David Lee let a rebound bounce on the floor and hit him right between the numbers of his jersey and he looking at it the whole time make no attempt to get it.

This game was nowhere near this bad at the beginning. It really feels to me like you guys test this game with certain players and say "Ok, I can do all my moves with Lebron and Kobe. The game's fine, send the update out" I would love to play a game with a dev so they can see the issues with the game.

I left 2K this year and got Live and had no regrets for that move. NBA 2K10 hasn't even touched my console but you guys are slowly pushing me back. As it stands right now I'm 80% NBA 2K11 20% Live 11. From my understanding DNA encompasses the offense only and you guys subjectively do the defense ratings and rebounding. Well I gotta tell you that your numbers are breaking the game.
