As a hockey gamer I was excited when I found out about this new right stick shooting control. Sounds like it will be fun for me. I think all sports games should utilize the right joystick for their major functions. I have always wanted right stick shooting in hockey, right stick hitting in baseball, and right stick shooting in basketball. Also it will be easier for me to remember how to shoot since the shooting control will be the same for both NHL and NBA.

this does not sound good. This makes it seem like as long as you move the stick properly you can make 10 circus shots in a row no matter where you are on the court or how closely you are guarded...if that is the case, it's extremely weak. shot success should be determined by that real player's shooting ability and the difficulty of the shot. this makes it seem like you will be able to make any shot at any time and there will be no strategy involved...lame. sounds more like nba jam than a sim...people will just be throwing up and making circus shots all game long.

I am seeing a lot of potential with real-time shot physics and Natal + PS3 motion control. It will be literally you controlling virtual NBA super stars and their actions.

And see, there's another issue. All this talk about re-mapping controls and such and yet, there's HUGE issues with DNA as it's currently presented to us. Let's hope they are spending a good deal of time figuring out how to better implement that feature; it sounds well in theory but man, there were so many issues with DNA in 10 that it turned a lot of people away from the game.

I think DNA goes away Hoosier. Just thinking about it though I have Zero info on that. But I would think this is part of the new direction. as that was a previous producers concept. I think they are scrapping all that for a skill based game.

I obviously don't have the slightest idea how good the game will be, but with the re-branding, and a probable exponential increase in marketing/hype, I'm going to guess that they will increase their sales considerably. This is of course all that matters to the folks upstairs.

A lot of people are going to be drawn to all the newness that this game will be putting forth. "Fun Factor" use to be a phrase that was a staple of EA titles, and I feel that they are trying to recapture that segment of the basketball gaming public that hasn't had a game geared toward them in quite a few years.

The folks who feel that stick skills should allow them to shoot 75% from the field, drain J's consistently from 30 feet, and cross people up with D Howard seem to be the target for this game now.

This isn't that surprising to me at all. They tried to go toe to to with 2K the last couple of years in terms of making a stats/ratings/percentage based game, and lost badly. So now they're going to create something that seems like its going to be a fundamentally different game then what 2K has.

With the scraps of info we have now, I'm thinking that I'm not going to like it, but I'm not who the game is being geared toward.

I'm skeptical...but damn. If this is the direction they wanna go...let them do what they gotta do and then see the final result.

The "basketball" guys up there couldn't produce a basketball game with fundamental rebounding so they need something new. Now whether it's a hockey guy or whatever...this is the direction they're going in.

We haven't seen a thing.

Now...he made a poor comment (half court shot going in based on release). But I think that's just a poor PR job rather than an insight into the game...or I'm hoping so.

The rest of things mentioned should be welcomed since it's what the series has failed at...even with "basketball" guys (supposedly) working on the game.

Last year, they promised us mid-air adjusted shots. Was that really in the game? No. It was canned animations once you went up in the air.

Live 2005 had true mid-air adjusted shots.

Why in Live 10 did we have to press a "LAYUP ANIMATION" button (cuz that's all it was), one or 2 steps in from the 3-point line for an animation to kick in?

That stuff has to go!

Take it for what it's worth but...the last "team" who worked on Live 10 encouraged us to play like that.

Now, that's not hockey. But let's be real...that's not basketball either.

If this hockey dude makes good videogames....shoot...have at it.

We haven't seen a damn thing on this.

Big East what up Fam ? Listen man the thesis behind your and others thoughts on the game are wait and see it could be good. I am simply representing the you know what It could be bad also and here is why... Basketball is not hockey. Its a different opinion yes but still valid when you consider the history live and the abysmal releases they have had in the past.

All I'm saying is I prefer a basketball guy with good ideas to be in charge of basketball is that soooo wrong ? are the hockey guys in the world the only people qualified to bring new ideas ? Yes if he hits it out of the park then Great I will still play it. Its not a boycott situation it just I have seen this movie before by the same Director and your man is skeptical. Doesn't matter what we have heard because we Heard and saw a lot before live 06, 07 and 08 and it was still heated and tempered crap. LOL

Whats wrong with saying hey this could be a bad idea.... I remember when basketball wasn't taken seriously and it was all about football. I simply don't want to go back to those days Where nothing about the intellectual aspect of the sport is represented and it becomes all about technology.

All I'm saying is that since we're in the world of videogames...whatever background this guy has (I never played the hockey game)...this guy releases a good product from what I understand.

The basketball heads up there who live, eat, breathe hoops couldn't do that. Not saying Wang, et al with another year couldn't get it done but something's gotta give.

You're right...we could do this from now until release. But we're gonna make that choice to drop that $60+ come October.

I don't know much about the science behind the scenes of making videogames. But I know some dudes within the field have rep. Good rep and bad rep.

I think most people are focusing on the hockey background as if he's gonna have LeBron out there on ice skates.

If he does...I'm out...early.

But I just don't get that from what I've read...that would be a reach for me.

Dude...I've been burned by this company waaaaaaay too many times. But I'm making better decisions this time around. If it's garbage...then this franchise is toast. But I won't be able to tell that until we get some good visuals or feedback from some honest gamers.

Yeah I too don't like 2K's controls but for me it's the part where my movement is tied into the dribble moves so that I can't do one without the other. Sounds like they got that part figured out. Now let's hope they get the fundamentals right too.
