In case you haven't read some of reanimators replies in the thread the offensive phsyics reactions hadn't been added to the game yet when that clip was taken. Now since Friday it has been worked on and more video showing this happening will fairly confidently released Monday.

Umm how can that be real time physics when they have to add a seperate system for offense, shouldn't they act as one? I'm not buying into this until i see it.

I've read his threads and I'm thankful that he's hear replying at the rate he is. But you know what? I personally have no interest in seeing videos where the flaws are abundant and for that matter, outshine the point they were trying to make. I just wish someone over there would get a grip and say to themselves, "maybe we shouldn't show this just yet", "lets clean it up a bit before we show it".

This isn't the 1st time their gameplay videos were full of very noticeable errors. Some of you guys are blown away by what these videos show, but I'm not. Not buying into the hype either. This is year in and year out with this series. I will not be shocked one bit, IF this game (by way of public opinion) is another huge disappointment...Its the same thing every year: Hype by company, uncontrollable excitement by fan, then ultimately most agree the game didn't live up to the hype. I'm giving it a fair shake, as always, but I've been fooled once, twice, thrice, quatro times, and I keep coming back hoping for the best, and I'm over it...I can't even trust the demo, cuz last years demo was great, 1st few weeks of owning the actual game was great, then they dropped a patch and it drastically changed for the worse, IMO.

Its all work on prpgress stuff and why not show it the developers can great feedback from the community in the flaws and thats whats being done. We will get to see the end results with the demo/full game so why not see the behind the scenes stuff to see how its all done. We can also getting an understanding of what it takes to develop a game as well as see the direction the team is taking the game.

Anyway thats my 2 cents worth.

Triggers/switches still have to be set to allow this to happen in this case players weight, height, hip height at point of contact in the jump and momentuem along with ratings. Its the x,y & z factors that go in to the physics that make it all happen.

Real time physics engine vs animation driven engine. This is WHY Madden needs competition.

I really hope that this year we will see more signature stuff for dunks, free throw routines etc. because the NBA Live series has been really running behind compared to 2K.
My fear is that this year again those signature elements will be pushed back because all the efforts have been on new controls and animations.
Every year we hear about the fundamentals being rebuild and so on, but when will we actually feel like we are playing as Kobe, Wade, James etc?

Nice video and all but on the 3rd clip why is #34 jumping up in the air to swat the ball and he is waaay out of position. Looks like he's swatting air!!! Come on EA let's get this right!!!

I still don't think it's actually real time, there just pre-dertermined animations if they have to be triggered by an event. I'll wait for the demo.

The Artest dunk looked like a real time animation to me. I feel like if it were pre-determined, Wallace's fall would have looked a lot smoother and more tied in to Artest's body. As it looked, a player went flying to the rack high above the rim and a defender came over and tried to intercept the play a little late, thus initiating the contact animation. I'm not very positive, but wouldn't a pre-rendered collision have to be determined before the Artest dunk began? I'll have to give it another look.

Edit: Also, am I the only one who got 2 really freaky advertisements before each vid (one for killer piranhas and one for a possessed little girl)? I'd be okay with like, a Starburst ad. . .or one for kittens.

I'm glad to see the 2player animations gone, but the replacement still needs some work. You guys might have a physics engine, but you need a kinesiology engine or something - rasheed wallace jumped straight up, then some how levitated backwards before showing any signs of impact. Plus he didn't show any localized impact (i.e. if someone gets hit in the sterum, their chest compresses, their shoulders go forward, and the upper body should be out of line with the lower limbs) - he just levatated backwards, and stumbled back once he got to the floor.

Edit: I'm sorry but after watching it a few more times, it does have localized impact, but it's after he levates backwards lol.

I agree with you. I believe I read this is not what the final impact in an instance like this will look like but yes, it looked a bit unnatural and rough - as if Rasheed is defying physics a little. It's a starting point though.

To give a bit more context to the video, I was playing against the CPU and I was controlling the Celtics.

I had got beat off the dribble and was still recovering and I pressed up on the right stick in a desperate attempt to try and block the shot. But I hadn't finished turning to face the ball when I did which is why that particular jump looks a little akward.

The help from Rasheed was a cpu teammate.

I wish I could say I was the one who did the dunk, but I wasn't

As I said in an earlier post, the ratings that influence in air collisions on dunks were added today, and there should be a video released on Monday showing off the results.
YES! Something I've been preaching to Connor and other devs since I left community day.
