Re: New NBA Elite 11 Clips on Facebook

I honestly don't like the video with Bynum losing the ball. This game is supposed to be about stick skills and control. They just took control away from me like last year when players automatically lost the ball in the paint.

It should be possible to do a really slow and bad behind the back dribble with a big man if you move the right stick slowly, but it should also be easy to steal on the defensive end. If I were to try to move the right stick quickly like when I am in control of a perimeter player, then I would be fine with losing the ball.
Here's and example with Kendrick Perkins-

Don't get me wrong, though. I don't want to go up and down the court performing advanced dribble moves with big men.

What you see in this video is extremely rare in the game right now, which was one of the reasons we captured it.

I'll see if I can get you guys some examples of dunk on attempts that do get altered for some of the next videos so you can see the difference.

What you see here should really only play for a very, very strong player dunking on a very, very weak player.
hi reanimator i think that the animation was just fine,i know that sheed is strong but so is artest. as i could see the collision was detected as artest was at his pick of his dunk and rasheed was only starting his jump adn tryin to block the shot. so in this case only artest has the edge, so he should finish the dunk without falling, or maybe even get +1 dunk.

also i really really liked the videos!!!!!

Get what your saying, but how often does this happen? Especially when ratings do go in, not sure if they are in this clip though. I'm pretty sure that doesn't happen every time though. He just wanted to show what could happen when you do a move like that with a big man.

I hope your right. The way Novell Thomas described it tells me that it is impossible and will happen everytime.

Even tho I like the player movement of the Bynum clip, I think it's a bit unrealistic to say that a big man can't dribble, actually most NBA players can do a behind the back when they are not in a pressure situation Bynum was under no pressure, even though I hope I never see a situation where Bynum is taking the ball up the court without a point guard taking it away from him I don't get why he lost the ball so badly. The Artest clip was just bad, first Artest does not take it to the hole like that and the fact that he was able to get around Pierce that easy makes me think about the IGN article where he said the game played alot of one on one basketball, second Artest is a sloppy dribbler and he is not a stylishness dunker, there also seems to be a real disconnect with players on the court Artest is fling to the hoop and no on his team is actually acknowledging what is happening he is celebrating but there should be some emotion from his teammates he just posterized a good defender, there was also no stoppage of play Wallace was still on the floor and the Celtics were ready to inbound the ball.

It doesn't happen every time. I just tried it out myself and it is possible to perform a behind the back dribble with a big man successfully. There is a risk reward with trying to perform ball handling moves (as you saw in the video) with a big man but it is possible to perform various dribble moves with big men.

See. Thanks for clearing it up. IMO it was just common sense that it wouldn't happen every time. Certain big men though right? Not someone like shaq. If so, it should be pretty slow lol.

I think the key to the clip is that it shows that we will have to think about what we are doing with the sticks this year depending on who has the ball. Is it going to happen every time? I'm sure it won't. But why is that Perkins clip such a big deal?! Cause that rarely happens! Same goes with big men dribbling behind the back...just don't move the stick to have him do that...just run it up and give it to a ball handler.
Too much over analyzing going on about Bynum and dribble control.

I didn't see the purpose of the Perkins clip either. I really like the clip. Thats all that matters. Can't wait to see more clips.

Nice to finally see some vid's, but on the Artest dunk Pierce is sliding all over the place, it looks like he gets sucked on to the screen by some kind of vortex by Artest's, and then theirs no D awareness by Garnett he just stands there watching the dunk then all the sudden wakes-up and runs away after the play.

In that Perkins video, that P-Dub posted, Perkins almost traveled/lost his dribble and quickly passed it to Rondo. I think this is actually realistic, while alot of Big Men can go behind their back, it's not their best option

Yes, you can adjust manually to avoid the block attempt. If you don't do it, you'd get the circus shot that would likely miss if the block wasn't successful due to positioning, or you'd get a successful block.

I know rEanimator just explained what happened and why happened, but I can see this play happening in real life too (except from that super dunk by Ron Ron, )
I'm glad to see you noticed that Sheed was out of position and jumped late. Currently the simple logic I was referring to was checking the difference in height of the players hips at the point of contact. This gives an advantage to the dunker if he had been in the air for longer and the defender jumped late.

It also indirectly allows player height to play a role as well.

My intention is to make this height threshold a factor of the player ratings.

I don't know the exact ratings for rasheed and artest so I don't know what impact my changes would have on this particular dunk, but like you said, with the momentum he had coming in and the late challenge that had very little momentum, I wouldn't be surprised if it still played out this way.

But depending on the ratings it may have played out slightly differently.

Like I said, I'll keep an eye out for different outcomes and see if we can get some vids posted for those.
