    Game Intro

There's been a lot of Hype surrounding the latest NBA 2K Trailer, but what it actually reminded me of was what EA used to bring....

EA had the best opening game sequences. Early on it was real NBA game footage, but edited really nicely with a good soundtrack to get you pumped, but once the game graphics progressed, we were given these:

    <object width="480" height="385">

    <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CHGTvxJl7mA?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></object>

    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZLG9oP7Rfoo?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ZLG9oP7Rfoo?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
I would actually watch these every time I opened up the game they were so good, I would rarely skip them.

Last year, EA had that Mos Def narrated intro with a pre rendered Dwight Howard mixed in with Live action....... pretty weak sauce if you ask me (not to mention it was then followed up by the lamest of lame intro sequences to start up 'The Hangar'... ewww.

To make it even worse was that being a PS3 user...... they didn't even put the game intro in the PS3 port from the XBOX. For some reason, it wasn't included, we just get a little logo swipe thing, loading screens and into the Hangar intro. Hardly a way to get you amped to play.

So c'mon EA, I'm not talking Gameplay or Physics or control, but NBA style and Hype, bring it this year with your intro/ trailers, you used to.

(Nothing pre-rendered please, the modern consumer is too smart for this, I don't want to see something that isn't in the game)

That's you personally, but not me. Even still, it's a pretty crappy non 'next gen' experience booting up your PS3 to a logo and some pre loaders followed by a badly lip synced Lebron James saying 'Yo, Was Happening' and giving NBA stars high 5's.

The game should be a package, and I used to love this stuff. Also, it's the reason that 2K has gotten so much hype recently, because they're the ones doing this stuff well.

I agree with you about having a nice intro reel (real or in game) and feel the same way about starting five introductions as well. Some people skip them, others (such as myself) enjoy watching them. The pre-game stuff that has replaced introductions gets skipped much sooner. Two things (Starting 5 presentation & intro videos) that NBA games used to have and dropped for no discernible reason.

That said, 2K has always had good intros so that is far from the reason -- Signature style, Best Selling & Rated, Greatest Player of All Time on the cover, etc. -- why that series gets so much hype If we're talking about trailers, well there is a thread for that.

Is guess that main thing I was disappointed about was opening up my PS3 and not having the full package, whether it's a missing game intro or average anti-aliasing, it just feels like I'm not getting the full experience.

Also, I too usually skip the starting 5 intros and other cut scenes, but something about these into sequences being done so well, I find it hard to turn it off. It's why I've watched the 2K trailer probably 10 or more times, and I STILL enjoy watching these old intros to Live.

            Re: Game Intro

Have you played Live 10 on the 360? That opening is all there is to it. Couple Pictures of Dwight and a load. You are not getting slighted in that area (at least not any more than 360 owners)

And I skip what passes for a starting 5 intro now, I don't/didn't/wouldn't skip the actual presentation like they have at real games and show during the Finals.

some of us did lol. I never could stand how LIVE looked on Xbox & PS2. One of a few things that kept me with 2K & Inside Drive.

Don't get me wrong, I understand where you're coming from. I would be for it, its just not something I'm wanting at this moment. I also got sick of the Lebron intro cutscene.

If Elites gameplay was stale, they would probably be pushing the flashy presentation a bit more too.

                    Re: Game Intro

I just figure if they're going to put effort into these aspects of the game (ie. the Lebron intro into the Hangar) then don't do the game a disservice and make it crappy and cheesy. Have some proper NBA flair, or keep it simple.
