Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos and Impressions From the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event
boozer out jumping jordan and lebron on that video??????????? 2 handed freethrow line dunk by BOOZER over defense? Where are the physics for contact with KG? Here are the animations vital to making the players at least run correctly. I am a dedicated 2k baller and hoped that EA would step it up this year. Once gain

Why did KG bend over and touch his toes and let Boozer glide over him? That doesn't look or feel right."I'm so far ahead of my time, I'm bout to start another life

Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos and Impressions From the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event
OK... I have been watching these forums for years...and never truly felt it necessary to make an account and post. However, after watching the videos for the first time i was initially disappointed. However, i re watched every video multiple times and found a lot more positives some of which i will post.If you truly go back over each video (with an open heart and a basketball Mind, that's if you have a high enough Bball IQ) presented over the last 2 days there are a lot more positives than negatives IMO. For example one of the videos with the Wizards vs. The Lakers i saw a big man actually use his pivot foot. That is a big deal...I also saw a traveling violation that is a big deal...I saw the excellent textures of the Jerseys. And Is it just me or did Kobe and Matt Barnes look pretty damn good. ( I point them out out simply because they got multiple ISO shots after dead ball situations)
My point is, yes the game play looked sporadic and as if it lacked polished, but a lot of that was because both users constantly pressed the double team button as if it was a defensive assist which lead to out of place defenders and an overall awkward look. (If you don't believe me cross reference every video that has came out for elite.)
If i had any questions for the developers it would not be if the crazy free throw line dunk is still an issue.
But rather i would ask more important questions like can u actually box out in this game because that is necessary.
And are the fouls going to be turned up...for example a derrick rose dunk had 2 be a foul simple because Oneal was in the restricted area. That is a big deal.
Oh and can you still walk the ball down the court.Last edited by C3ltics20; 08-29-2010, 07:41 PM.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos and Impressions From the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event
The main problem with the Boozer dunk is not the distance but the instantaneous warp to the rim as if rockets ignited on the player mid-air, and ignored the momentum, weight - velocity strength on the player...
A lot of guys can dunk from that distance in the NBA, they just need a running start from half-court..
I have the same problem with both basketball games. If you hit DUNK the split second you have an open lane and you're at the max dunk animation range, the game ignores defenders, teammates physics etc...all to make sure you get to the rim and attempt a dunk.
This needs to change when the next generation of consoles come out.
(I do have a programming solution to this problem if any dev cares to change this part of the landscape)Comment

Couple things I don't like so far:
- Crab walk
- Post up animation is still facing wrong directionComment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos and Impressions From the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event
I think some of the dribbling will look better once players learn to protect the ball and switch hands before they move in the opposite direction. It just didn't look right when the player moved right, with the ball still in his left hand.
Again, we need the demo. And I'm really hoping the EA vids look a lot better then these.Comment

that boozer dunk was the EXACT same animation from one of those nba elite videos showing the ANT system. The player took one dribble and launched to the rim.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Videos and Impressions From the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Event
I've said it before, I'll say it again.
I'll wait for the demo.
That has to be the only way I can experience what the devs are talking about. What they're saying is not coming through in any of these videos (if they are, they're in VERY small samples).
For a game built around "physics" (or whose main focus was/is physics driven animation/events, and I quote physics because I'm not really seeing them being respected in a lot of the videos that have been released) I'm still seeing a lot of the same things that plague BOTH basketball games. Only they look a lot worse in the more "physics" based game.Last edited by eDotd; 08-29-2010, 07:59 PM.
