Re: HOw can Ea bring you Back to ELIte
slow the game down so everybody doest run usain bolt speeds, big men slower than my point guard, and put some custom moves in there instead of the same right stick crossovers and spins, the nba jam offer might get me though in the long runComment

Re: HOw can Ea bring you Back to ELIte
I never left Elite, I buy both games every year. However, Elite lacks depth in animations and signature play. Part of the reason I stick with them, is their involvement with the community. You can tell they really want to put out a good product and listen to what we have to say. That and having a history with the franchise. I want to see them succeed and it's good to see a healthy competition between them and 2K. It pushes both companies to put out an even better product.
With that being said, Elite now having the foundation with this amazing control, the only way to go is up from here. I'm hoping next year will focus on animations and signature styles. It adds another dynamic that this franchise has been missing for years.
You are right. NBA Live/Elite lacks in animations and it always has, but you are mistaken more animations for better gameplay which isn't the case. More animations merely make the game LOOK better but not necessarily play better. You need to remember the key to EA's new direction is all about the game play and the freedom their new hands on control will give you. Pretty animations are fine but if it doesnt feel right and it just seems scripted then where is the fun in that. I want to be able to control the action make the moves my self and EA is affording us this opportunity. This is just phase 1 of a 3 phase plan. More animations will follow in the coming phases.Comment

Re: HOw can Ea bring you Back to ELIte
First off never mention that name Tercel to me. That individual is the epitome of a 2k homer with absolute no objectivity. The fact that he is a moderator for the 2k forums since 2003 renders his comments biased and useless.
Now on to your question. I never left Elite. Only a child would look at those videos and render such a rediculous asumption to a game. Let me ask you a question: Do you buy a car before you test drive it? No, you don't. You have to get behind the wheel and take it for a spin. Sure the car looks hot and in your mind you know its awesome but until you get behind the wheel, you never really know.
Well that is exactly the case with these 2 video games. Sure 2k is all pretty and shiny and makes your mouth water when you see it but you haven't taken it for a spin yet. Will it be a dream machine or will it be a lemmon? You simply don't know. Furthermore with the existing problems this game had last year I think I wanna see the CARFAX before I buy this car.
Now Elite. It doesn't necessarily look as pretty as 2k but what it has under the hood is a mystery and kind of exciting at the same time. But again is it quarter mile speed demon or just a loud clunker? Again we won't really know until we get behind the wheel.
So making any kind of comment about either one of these games is very premature. Once the demos hit, the pieces will fall in to place.
HM i see i like how you used that analogy of a car, and Carfax lol.. But also if the majority say that a lambo drives nice and they say the nissan looks like,...wouldn't buy the lambo First? hence 2k or Elite? its just a thoughtComment

Re: HOw can Ea bring you Back to ELIte
I'll use three words, "attention to detail". 2K has it, Elite doesn't.
I'm all for more control but not at the expense of signature, fluid animations and player movement. I don't buy the excuse that you can't have both, so until Elite's game resembles real basketball I'll stay away from it.
Ugly, goofy player movement and animations kills the immersion for me, no matter how resposive the controls are. Basketball is a beautiful game in real life so I want to see that beauty in the virtual world as well.
See and this right here is why 2k beats Elite i mean its simply because only the true gamers want the immersion of shooting based off there skill with influence from the player but the gaming market is not full of hardcore playe4rs many want a great looking Game PRESENTATION which i stated in my own post i'm not saying what ELite doing is bad its great but the majority want a great looking game plus fluid control and 2k delivers on both I think Elite delivers on ------ something else someone can finish that I'm not one to babble i try not to ELites on like a whole nother level that i don't think the general public is ready forComment

Re: HOw can Ea bring you Back to ELIte
Honestly the biggest problem i've had with Live is the animations....
They just never look realistic or above avg. gameplay is no biggie i've always been able to take any EA game and tweak the game play to resemble good results.
It's the animations that seem to be lacking each and every year. Sure they have guys dunking and moving at unrealistic speeds but there's an in game fix to those problems for me.
The animations is what kills the game play now days for me. I don't want goofy stuff that i saw in Live 06 or 07 still showing it's ugly head 4-5 years later. I can live to a sertain degree without players functioning like their real life counter part in regards to SIGNATURE Moves and Tendencies.
Graphics are ok and Live really hasn't hasn't had bad graphics IMO. But man i just can't tolerate some of the bad animations year after year anymore. I said earlier in the Summer i purchased College Hoops 2K8 for the 1st time and I was amazed at even then how that game has better player animations than any EA pro basketball game to date.
I don't know how that is possible the reality is it's true.....Elite/Live lives a serious overhaul on animations. I don't care about the cloror of the paint or the guy in the stands holding the popcorns. Those things are very minor to me. But when i see a guy like Chris Paul for the CPU dribbling like a dude in the YMCA scrub league it frustrates the hell out of me more than anything.
They need to add some serious baller animatiosn to this game....hell they could go to any outdoor court back east and get some real animations thrown into this game without haing to pay someone. In other words and some basketball soul to this game EA. I'm willing to bet Live 09 and 10 would have been beast if only the animations captured the audience more.Last edited by Playmakers; 09-01-2010, 03:51 PM.NCAA FOOTBALL 14 ALUMNI LEGENDS CPU vs CPU DYNASTY THREAD

It's especially painful to see when the other game is improving and fine tuning each year whereas EA constantly puts all efforts and manpower in overhauling this or that, only to change direction again the year after.Comment

Re: HOw can Ea bring you Back to ELIte
Well fiscally your example is kind of Off. A lambo I couldn't afford so that makes the decision that much easier. But anyways I don't every buy anything based on fans. Its just bad practice. Not everyone has the same taste or likes the same things in a game. 11 million people say WOW is the greatest game ever and even though the game is 6 years old it still has 11 million subscribers. I hate MMO's and couldn't play WOW for 6 seconds let alone 6 years.
I have to play the game for myself. Now I don't particularly like 2k's style of gameplay. I never have. I owned 2k7 and 2k8 out of necessity b/c Live was just too horrible to endure. Mind you I wasn't happy with 2k7 or 2k8 but like madden, it was the only viable choice. Once Live 09 dropped I saw the return of EA basketball and all the things I liked about the game in the past. So now I am back on board with EA. My biggest beef with NBA2k isn't the game its the company at large. I think 2ksports is a horrible company and they are ruining sports games franchise by franchise. Basketball is the only real franchise they haven't completely ruined yet, but after last years launch disaster, I am convinced they are working hard to do it.Comment

I thought the carfax was a funny touch too.

Why would 2k be considered a horrible company, aren't they the only company to ship what people still call the best Nfl licensed game in history for only 20 dollars ( Nfl 2k5) I think what 2k shows is clarity but then again its my opinion...dosen't matter to anyone rightComment

Re: HOw can Ea bring you Back to ELIte
I will have to go with the animations department, they just haven't done the best of jobs replicating the movement and feel of the NBA, when I look at EA's basketball titles Live or Elite I still can help but to see an game that has a very arcade type feel to it, now I'm not saying that the game plays like an arcade title but just they way there players move doesn't give me a sim feel or look. Also, attention to detail as stated before in this thread, not talking accessories but player signature shots, movements, go to moves things like that should be in abundance give players there complete identity.
Last but not least, I think they finally got it right this year is features...not talking about this new shot control mechanic, I never was big on this new change (please give me an option to play it Live 10 style at least) but things like improved dynasty mode, become legendary mode...new added elements like these that they have said to be done are what can keep my attention, also an upgraded Create a Player feature, I've always been a customization nut when it comes to sports titles and EA failed hard on previous years with there CAP mode, things like this can bring me back to Elite or at least will make me try em out.Comment
