I'm seeing the exact same. Man I really enjoyed live 10' except for a few things in franchise and the cpu ai. I thought they were finally catching up to 2k, this new direction they are taking is not a good look, they had a great base last year and If they would've added some more custom animations, glossed over the graphics, worked on the presentation, and improved the cpu ai they could've had a real winner now.

    But

They seemed to have scrapped everything they've been working on and picked up a new engine, which yea may be good in the long run but first year there gonna have to work out some kinks, because some of the movements I'm seeing just look horrid and unnatural, and really kill the immersion to the point that I can't watch more then 30 seconds of these videos without saying wtf?

Oh well at least we have a choice of basketball games unlike another major sport, not bashing Madden I love it this year but it's taken awhile. I've seen enough footage I'll try the demo and see if my complaints are warranted.

A lot of the animations are so old!! The blockshots, some of the passes and the timing in the shoots are way off. I am sure that moving your player and shooting would be cool with the new gameplay system, but they missed completely in the rest. Too bad because I was looking to try NBA Elite this year.

Kinda makes you scratch your head as to how it could have possibly taken a step backwards.

I don't get that at all....you had a good foundation in Live 10 only thing missing was legitimate animations.........

I knew that new name Elite was just fluff.....there's nothing elite about the game IMO. Man i miss the the old PS2 days of NBA Live

Sorry but no way is this worth $65. Cancel release and take a year off, or drop the price.

No...because Live 10 was a huge step in the right direction. They laid a solid foundation with the movement and controls, and the logical step would have been to build upon that with more signature animations and focus on areas that were lacking (post game, fast breaks, more contact).

When Live 10 was released it had the best movement, drive and kick game and shooting responsiveness of any basketball game to date. Though it was lacking in overall depth, it nailed many basketball fundamentals that 2k10 was missing, which made it a viable alternative.

I just don't understand the decision to completely abandon what they had going. I can see why Mike Wang disagreed with the direction they wanted to go, clearly his creative voice was lost in the process. Big mistake.

How are they releasing a game where NBA players are dribbling laterally with the ball in the same hand like a hockey defensemen on the blue line during a powerplay? It looks ridiculous.

I like OS because short posts that don't use logical arguments aren't usually considered acceptable.

But honestly, that video was so underwhelming / disappointing that I can't think of anything intelligent / logical to say. It was just bad, very bad. I'll still download the demo, but after watching that... I'll be very surprised if the demo convinces me to buy.

This coming from a Live '96 vet.

Man i'm so down right now. Every year i get all hyped up around this time for b-ball (NBA Live). This can't be the final product i refuse to believe it since it's only September.

There has to be more brought to the table right?

I haven't followed NBA Elite (or Live) for 3-4 years. I only came here due to the poll.

That being said, this looks eerily similar to the NBA Live versions from 4-5 years ago.

Oh gosh this game looks tight. I love the camera angle, the jumpshots, the ball to rim physics, and of course RTP. Just made my pre order at Gamestop along with NBA 2K11, and NHL 11. Guys, this may be the best year ever to be a sports gamer. We should all consider ourselves to be very blessed with such a good variety of sports games coming out this year and I truly mean that. Don't get me wrong there is always room for improvement. NBA 2K11 will most likely be my main BBall game but Elite will be great alternative for me.

They didn't just take a step back.... they but it in reverse and floored it.

Exactly. The gameplay looks like crap. After reviewing all the vids to date, I can't see why anyone would play this over 2K11.

On the money. I will also add the gathers, some of the layups, floaters, the set-up dribble and iso motion were also great points of the game, they seemed to have scrapped the gathers and added all new dribble moves which look terrible for what reason?

But control is what they are preaching this year so hopefully when we get the controller in our hands it will immerse you so much that you won't notice some of the things you see in the videos.

                              Now, speaking of the video.

The video, once again in my opionion, doesn't animate very well. Durant's drive and foul should have simply never happened. he pretty much barreled through Prince like he wasn't there.

But what dissapointed me the most was that the AI seems very reminiscent of Live 10. Generally stagnant and there often seems to be only two things happening: 1. An isolation, or 2. A "one pass and shoot" offense. I just hope that they tweaked the AI becuase that is who I generally play and that was what kept me from really enjoying Live 10.
i never pay attention to stuff like that as long as the game is fun and im not cheesed on in every online game i enter

Agreed on all points...I'll be playing 2K11 w/ a little Live 10 mixed in and wait until next year. May give Elite 11 a rental, but I'm waiting for the demo...which needs to drop soon...like now...
