as long as elite has some sweet gameplay could care less if the graphics are worse than live 10. Gameplay is what makes the game fun and realistic. take another EA game for example, mvp baseball 2005 for PS2. That game has horrible graphics in terms of todays games but the gameplay is solid and fun so I still play it every now and then.

gameplay and graphics go hand in hand IMO. When i think of gameplay, i think of how the players move, how smart the AI is, how realistic things look, basically how true to life things are. Like when Madden & NCAA added locomotion that is gameplay but it also changed the way the game looked. When they changed the running styles, throwing motions, tackling animations, that was all gameplay stuff that effected how the game appeared. To me Fifa looks as great as it looks because the players movement is so lifelike, because the physics are so realistic and then like the icing on the cake, the player models/field/arena also look spectacular. When you have guys sliding like crazy, jumping through the roof, gliding in air like they are being sucked from a tractor beam that is gameplay that also affects appearance.

You cant bring up a game from PS2 and say the graphics suck compared to games today but the game was fun because at that point in time the game was on par with how things looked. NHL 94 for Genesis doesnt look as good visually as NHL 11 for PS3 but it was fun. But this is next gen and we've had next gen for quite some time now and these companies have been making games for next gen for a while now. We shouldnt have to pick one or the other. Especially when they effect each other the way they do. If the gameplay is good then visually we'll see that represented as well. If the gameplay is bad (sliding, ugly shot animations, etc) then thats going to affect how the game looks as well.

I don't know man. Getting caught in philosophical discussions here can turn quite ugly. Most OS'er agree gameplay > graphics. But to what extent is different for everyone.

I agree, but for one aspect to be really bad is not acceptable either (this applies to all games).

I'm just curious why they can't have both. They have an art team for a reason. So what did they do all year while the gameplay team put in all this work? Not much from what I can see. Maybe they had a limited budget. I don't know, but it's unfortunate.

The use of the term 'graphics' is misleading though. Animations are the key here.

I agree, but I'm not feeling the game play as much as 10, either...

on elite its more like gameplay > graphics & sig animation. that's the right argument we should discuss, man.

While I do agree Gameplay over graphics,at this point in 2010,and with EA making basketball games for so long there has to be a certain graphical level you must reach for me to be content with the gameplay.Right now my game of choice will be NBA2K11,but I plan on buying Elite when the price dips below $30 bucks..

FRom those screen shots the player models look better this year than last year!!! Hopefully the demo drops this week or next week!!

True as is all still pictures..the game in motion looks really bad.
