    Early Info: Why?

This is just a general question. If mods feel its ainappriopiate or want to move the thread, then by all means. I saw the IGN thread preview and it sparked up an interesting question. Why does EA release previews in june, when the nba season is still going or shortly after it ends? Is the developmental cycle different for ea?

To me, it spells out two things for me 1) They are shooting themselves in the foot with early info(basketball wasn't for at least another 5 months) and 2) the changes they or tweaks made in the previews are usually cemented in.(you know, since they are showing it off.)

Why gaming media has their hand on a early, early build to preview is beyond me.

Just want to know what's behind the process.
    thanks.

    Re: Early Info: Why?

Live came out in August of 09, with probably a group of people working on patches and updates for Live 10. I would think after a couple of months EA starts meeting and talking about the next years game. Shortly after that they start there developement process, and I would guess by june a good portion of the game is done and EA should have a decent product for people to preview. This is not a fact just my thoughts of the process

you must not like going to the movies and watching previews of some awesome movie and the release date is 2012.

Also if Elite was built off Live 10 they would have a prettier game, but since they rebooted with Elite there showing in june was probably a little premature though.

If I'm understanding this statement, you're on something. Is this a typo?

You're right, I don't like seeing promos that come out a yr before release. To me, it kills hype. Either the movie is going to speak for itself or its not.

Plus, A movie or a story driven video game takes depth and development. With the duke nukem thing, they do not expect an annual release every year and even if they did, they still did not release info on the game that's going to be release next yr..

Your thoughts on the developmental process theory is almost identical as mine. (all nba games came out in oct last yr) However, I don't see why they need to preview the game right after the finals..Its creating a staple that doesn't have a staple-remover lol.
