Is the game simply designed for USER v USER games? Is the focus on control meant to suggest that by the time two USERS master it...then USER v USER games will be great?

I can see the logic in that. For online games / USER v USER stuff, that has potential.

I can't see any point bothering v the CPU though as it's so bad as to not even be close............everything from movement, to rebounding...it's just B.A.D.

I am pretty much only a USER v CPU player...so it kind of rules me out. I need smart / realistic CPU AI.
I don't think some of these guys really care how the CPU plays...

They only care about what they can do on the floor with total control....doesn't matter if Chris Paul controlled by the CPU is a scrub player offline

        Wow first impressions so far:

        - Cool Intro with Kevin Durant
        - Controls are very different from both Live and 2k
        - Graphics are pretty bad. I used to think NBA Inside the Life had bad graphics for a new generation system, NBA Elite wins that but this is only the demo.
        - A good shot release will be money for the majority of the time. When the ball actually swishes, it seems like NBA Live 99 type of swishes.

This game just feels like a completely new game, well probably because it is. The control system in itself is going to be frustrating for those who have yet to try it out. It certainly already has for me. The passing alone will make you hate this game, if you're not coming in with an open-mind.

If you're coming in and thinking this might play similar to Live/2K, it's not because if you do the controls will completely throw you off. This game is going to take a while for me to get used too. For those who don't have the patience to learn a completely new control scheme and expect great graphics, then NBA Elite isn't for you.

I love the controls but this game needs a lot of improvements in areas that have been mentioned over and over in this thread...if EA can work hard on the animations and graphics for next year they may be on to something...

In the meantime, I'm bummed because I am not pumped for either game this year

For the controls, 9/10. I really like them. I have a list of changes that can improve them, but 9/10 is my currently rating of the controls.

You gotta make the change on the game menu before the game starts.

Summary: This is not a complete game. EA worked on control, which is terrific, but didn't build a game around it.

The controls are terrific. Except for the auto defense (when my player goes into a defensive stance at half court when I want to run down court) it feels like I am in control. I like the other game's feel, but I can do more at will with this game after a few minutes of practice.

Everything else is not good. 5v5 feels thrown together especially after playing the other game demo. Spacing is terrible, plays aren't running smoothly, and weird things (like Bynum driving past three defenders from the FT line for a spinning dunk) happen. When I play against the Lakers Kobe scores a lot, but generally hitting contested fade aways rather than working for a good Kobe shot or drive.

It seems EA put all the eggs into the control basket. They decided NBA Elite 11 would be control, without a solid game in other phases. When they finish the game, add other elements like good AI and play calling onto the control scheme, Elite will be something worth owning.

If I player lock on a center (either team) and set a screen at the top, either I'm always open on the roll or the PG passes me the ball and then he's open down the lane for an easy layup. That's one example of bad AI.

Sorry thought you gave the demo a 9 out of 10. My bad.

Man - this is the most I've ever posted in such a short time. Hope this is not what they call trolling around here .. I was really hoping .. and this is coming from a 2k players .. that live had been showing some bs screens and game vids ... and that the demo was just going to be on some completely NEXT **** .. that type marketing move would've mess around had y'all on CNN tomorrow .. I'm hurtin for these cats right now man.

Must be hard as hellll to make these games tho man .. cause I know someone at EA .. at some point had to say ..eff 2k, eff the cost .. let's put those youngsters in their place. That's probably not going to happen from the consistnecies we've seen in the last few years .. damn. damn. damn.

When I saw ESPN .. ESPN !! .. bigging up 2K .. and the fact that the Czar is listed as the owner of this forum (correct me if I'm wrong) .. doing 2k vids ... it started looking pretty bad.

Man - I say, take a year off .. dump some resources in other games .. come back and give us all something to argue about ... Wooow Corporate America ...Woow. I'll be be getting Fifa 11 though ...so y'all still got me .. I'll just be with the other chic

See thats the thing, I do care how Chris Paul plays. I want him to play as lifelike as possible. And here the lyes the reason why there are 2 NBA games on the market. And also the reason why I'll be buying both. Both games are offering something that the other game can't. I've already mentioned that Elite has more than a few flaws. However, it has things going for it. I said individuality is not one of its strong points. And thats one of 2K11's strongest points. So, both games offer up different styles of play. I'm liking Elite for its level of control and overall fun.

I really like the control scheme (except passing). Spent a few good minutes in the gym and was really digging the moves and simplicity of the controls. But like others have said I just can't pass everything else. I really think you guys should have:
                                A) integrate this with already pretty solid Live 10 gameplay
                                B)Keep refreshing Live
                                C) Keep Live 10 going while developing this on the side.Really like the controls but the rest just isn't happening.
