I want to post something constructive and nice before I go to bed...I like the intro by KD NICE!! I like the how it feels when I hit a shot, it does pretty much feel like I had a lot to do with it hitting the bottom of nets. I love the commentary, seems like a real telecast. Still tryin' to get used to the controls and how everything works in conjuction with one another so I won't post on control just yet...I retract my earlier post about the graphics being pretty bad, not as bad as I thought, I needed to adjust my tv to 720p to handle this game (some of you should try the same btw). Overall, I must say that this game feels like basketball I am watching basketball at the "Y" with my homeboys while 2k feels like a real NBA experience...Just my opinion...

After giving the demo a 2nd run I cant fathom that this is the best that EA can offer us. I emailed EAC CEO David Gardner a few years ago, and now it looks like I'll be emailing Peter Moore this time.
I know this is just the demo, but having QA'd 07/08, I had this feeling that I was getting how bad Live 07 was with the info that was being released as Elite 11.
Having said that, rEAnimator confirming that this build isnt too far off from retail is whats most disappointing. We should be expecting better than this at this time in gaming consoles.
rEAnimator, if Nate, Matt or Brent are still on the team, and if they still have my email I sent to them back in Nov of 06, please have them forward that email to you. Some of the issues I had back then, are some of the issues I have now after playing this demo.
3year project sounds about right, but at what cost to us NBA gamers do you think are going to sit around and wait for this. This will be the 7th game from EA on next-gen and its hamster cage filling at this point.NBA Live is the epitome of Cancel Culture..

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available For PS3, Later Today For 360, Post Impressions Here
I played this demo for 2+ hours and I have to say I enjoyed it!
Try to play this game without thinking/comparing it to the other game, I really think you'd really appreciate this game more.
The tutorial in the beginning really helped me with the controls, though the R2 button for pass threw me off at first. After few games, and after getting the controls down this game is fun to play.
Surprisingly for me, the announcers sounded GREAT compare to the previous videos I saw. I love it when I hit a clutch 3 with Ray Ray, Mike Breen said "BANG" -- LOVE THAT!
Also, one great thing about EA's basketball game is the atmosphere! I really love it! It goes well with the commentary -- it sounds like an actual broadcast.
Pros
+ Pivot button
+ follow-up shots/dunk are smooth
+ Jumpshots feels rewarding
+ A lot of dunks and layups are smooth
+ Commentary
+ Atmosphere
+ Playcalling
+ Dribbling animations/feel
+ Jumpshot feel
+ Pivot on post
+ Players yell on contact
+ Rim and net sound
+ Cloth physics
Cons
- Player models
- Some animations are out of place/sluggish
- floaty passes
- Jogging animation
- cutscene
- Lack of sig animations on jumpers with momentum
- Lakers jersey # and names too shiny. looks like reflectors
To me this is how the demo should be. +1 to EA for the demo alone.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available For PS3, Later Today For 360, Post Impressions Here
It's about what's productive and what's not . Most OS traffic aren't registered users. They're people who click on the forums as guests. If they click on the Elite forum they want to know about Elite, 2k then they want to know about 2k, but usually the information is most helpful in isolation from it's competition, in any genre
.. I can see your point about distractions .. especially if you deal w the bs you all might see on a regular business ... I'm in Rome man. Got your point ... appreciate your responses. My bust on the distractions ... esp since I haven't even played the demo yet. MBA w a concentration in marketing man .. and I've been on these games since I was a baby .. so it mixes in and I'm just fascinated w the whole production, marketing and communications process .. I mean the everything - the whole machine.
So pardon my enthusiasm .. I'll hang it up here and let you get back to the more inportant things man. Big ups tho .. on how quickly and effieciently y'all get things done here. 1.Comment

Run up to Rondo (or whoever is taking the ball down the court), Press up against him, don't flick the stick down for the steal attempt. At least 50% of the time he'll either try a half court pass that goes out of bounds, or I'll just steal the ball (without flicking the stick down for the steal.) Then it's a run for the dunk.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available For PS3, Later Today For 360, Post Impressions Here
Interesting question.
I think there is a spectrum, and I'm not sure what to label each end of that spectrum.
On one side you've got what you guys call sim players, who border on wanting to play a basketball manager game. Nothing wrong with that so don't take it that way.
The desire is to have a game that has the players recreated as close to real life as possible, so you have a collection of virtual players that you can throw into a simulation and see what happens.
On the other end of the spectrum you have people who want to play basketball as a video game to pretend like they are playing in the NBA. The want complete control of their player, and the ability to get creative and explore the simulation as if it was more of a sandbox. This side of the spectrum often gets labeled arcade, but I don't think that is accurate.
You still want the sandbox to be as accurate to real life as possible, but the freedom and creativity aspect is important.
I think with Elite we are targeting more this second end of the spectrum. We're not all the way on that side as we still try and incorporate aspects from the other side, but we are giving more focus to that side and when two things are in conflict we sided with the control end of the spectrum.
We wanted the game to feel like you were playing basketball and give you the abilities you expect in real life basketball.
So the answer might be yes...but the intention is not to alienate the first group (even though the responses here may indicate that it is a possible outcome).
Time will tell if that market is bigger or not I suppose. We're still trying to cater to both ends of the spectrum, but we put more focus on the second as it had been neglected for a while in basketball games.
The success of NHL and FIFA suggest that people will respond well to that direction, but time will tell.
This forum has a very vocal population who fall into the "sim" side of the spectrum, but I have received may PM's from people who like the direction and may be a little more moderate.
As for Jam, that really wasn't an influencing factor. There are a lot of people who have stopped playing basketball games all together (both Live and 2K) and that group was getting bigger every year.
Adding Jam was meant to give them reason to try basketball one more time, and the nostalgic appeal of Jam was meant to accomplish that.
We wouldn't have done it if we weren't confident that people would stick around after playing the game for a while.
EA's interests here are long term, not short term.
You can have both and a lot of both. Matter of fact I would say you cant have one without the other. People that want a sim just want realistic occurances at a realistic rate. Euphoria is a remarkable technology and Backbreaker utiilized it better than I could have expected but its still marks away from real life. You arent going to come close to real life anyway so dont shun realism. You are never going to hit that critical mass where the game is limited by realism. If you ever get close to that you will have a game of the year on your hands.
You will have more room for a creativity and a bigger sandbox with a more realistic game. You cant beat the depth of reality. You can see this with NHL and espeically Fifa. Many soccer fans didnt even take Fifa seriously until the scores were much more realistic. Its the same in basketball with shot percentages. Real shot percentages is something to be embraced. You are going to gain more depth and gameplay when you have a game thats balanced enough to force someone to play a dynamic game or thoughtful game to shot 45% to 55%.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available For PS3, Later Today For 360, Post Impressions Here
I will not be purchasing elite 11 but I will give 12 a chance I have to take a year off and try and forget how to play 10 so when I come back I can learn new and all I will know I'd the new controls. R2 to pass after it being the sprint button/most important button in the game. The dribbling was perfect this Is a step back, the physics are weird and more suited for hockey were you won't see the obvious akwardness.Comment
