Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
Ok I have played the game for 6 hours I think I can throw my impressions now
graphics and players movements are not stellar, I don't care lol this is a video game not a woman or something.
One thing which is stellar in this game is : THE POST GAME
woooooooooow I'm a murderer with Shaq, hook shots, running hook inside outside, shoulder fake turnaround pump fake and then hop step dunk woooow just wooow I never played a bb game with some many possibilities.
The RTP??? Everything but a gimmick saw some jaw dropping highlights like ron ron pulverising the poor rondo ond a poster dunk (actually he threw the mike miller dunk and rondo tried to block him, btw I was rondo)
I LOOOOOOVE the defense reanimator you weren't lying damn this is the first year where the offense doesn't have some nasty move to MOVE me out the way even against my will. And even when kobe burnt me on superstar I would bring JO's body on the lane and prevent him from scoring easy layup.
I noticed a glitch something when you steal the ball you player goes to the right without asking your opinion this has to be fixed.
the alley oops: on pro I threw 3 or 4 alley in traffic once in superstar...........Well i will keep it for the fastbreaks ==> niiiiiiiiiice
shooting is so easy on pro, on superstar it's more challenging I had to run plays to get open or call for a pick.
The controls: you have to learn them once it done, you have to learn how protect the ball once it done you can try to beat you defender but too many dribbles and the ball is gone; You will have to attack with 3 or 4 dribbles, you must be efficient just in real life or the defense collapses the help d is not forgiving.
Now I know the collisions are awkward sometimes, the framerate is not perfect but EEHH I'm not here to look but TO PLAY and DAMN I enjoyed myself. I could create and use a gameplan and because of this gameplan I found out my soul was more a celtics than a lakers. And that's all I asked
Btw I need more liberty during inbounds I didn't check if you can run inbound plays can you?
EA Great job you have my money just take out this move to the right glitch and the turbo dunk please, and tune the jumpshots difficulty.
the revolution is on its wayLast edited by thesniper321; 09-21-2010, 06:06 PM.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
Checked out the demo and the dribbling control is awesome. I think the R stick is best for controlling dribble moves...the shooting in practice mode with the aim thingy was ok once I got the hang of it. I didn't figure out how to aim the shots during the game though. Overall I thought Live 10 was very cool and on its way to make great competition...the only thing that spoiled it for me was the cheesers online...my honest opinion is Elite will be quite bootylicious and they seem to have taken major steps back. Good luck going forward.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
Ive spent all day reading these reviews on this demo thinking people were exaggerating, but WOW am I dissapointed with this demo. Im shocked honestly....I expected so much more....
Beyond the DRIBBLING control (which IMO is awesome) and commentary , absolutely nothing is inviting about it....the whole thing just screams "Meh" and to me its not even a "They might not have flair, but alot of mechanics are solid" type thing like it was last year, the gameplay as a whole is just......wonky for lack of a better term...
I realize control and RTP was the main focus this year....but if what im controlling isnt engaging at all, its moot to me......im kidve floored man, I expected a raw, yet solid output from this game...
Im kindve floored man......Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
this game is imo is actually very good u can do anything u want and its all up to u i love the control.
But i dnt get the whole sprint thing how do i push the ball up the court, idk how many times im on a fast break with kobe and ray allen comes up from 10 FT behind back peddling in front of Kobe and stops my break. This is my ONLY complaint with this game/demo.
SOO i wanted to ask is there anyway around this sprint "mistake"???Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
i liked the demo at first i was confused with the controls but once i played it like it was NHL 11 i understood it. lol
I just hope the become legendary mode is similar to what nhl 11 has in be a pro... if you sit on the bench and wait til your energy fills up like in NHL 11 it will be a nice touch!
But all it takes is time to learn the controls... i also like the fact that you cant make every shot and i was confused with free throwing shooting too but got a hang of it now...
also love all the features for a demo! had a game that went into 2OT! Crazy!
I just cant wait to see how online works because that is always my favorite feature with this series... i spend 75% online play and about 25% dynasty mode!
i'm going to do more practice now in the gym... want to learn the controls better!Last edited by wbranson1; 09-21-2010, 06:04 PM.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
i'
Bottomline: Is there any Signature play style for the CPU? It looks more like quick pass and shot. or an isolated type of drive. I saw one or two screens but as some are saying, it has a NCAA generic feel to it.
Through both vids, you may hear or see me using Kobe and the R stick dribbling controls to try and get some seperation on Ray Allen. Maybe that comes with time or the appropriate moves being used, but so far, it seems very blah to me
The CPU AI is attrocious. It's just "let's go back to 2002" type bad. Generic...generic...generic. I can scarecly believe they've made it this bad, so I am presuming they haven't even bothered and the game is solely designed for two player / USER v USER games.
No one with any basketball IQ could even begin to argue that the CPU AI is anything other than very, very, very poor. Worst I've seen since SONY's series.
Two player mode has a lot of potential with the controls. For guys who want to play online only, I can see some buying this.
For games v the CPU though................just no way. BAD.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
After playing it some more today (this time on 360), I've come to the conclusion that the control system isn't as good as last year's live. The one big thing missing for me is the holding of moves and the explosiveness off of moves. For example, last year you could hold the right stick to the right and hold the left stick left and explode out of the hesitation into a crossover and drive. This year the guy does the hesitation, but then just sidesteps left without any explosion or aggresiveness. The controls feel too binary, if that makes sense. It feels like you click the moves using the stick (for example you don't hold a hesitation, you tap it) and chaining moves feels very sluggish.
The 360 version looks and plays better than the ps3 version, but it doesn't change the game being pretty bad. While I won't go into the hyperbole that others have, I will say that this game does feel like a launch title for a new system, as opposed to the fourth iteration of a series on a new console. I'm hopeful that they'll get it straightened out in future releases, but I fear that they will run out of time.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
I am curious about the whole, "No Canned Animations" claim that is being advertised. Maybe I was very tired last night while playing the demo, but I thought that I saw plenty of "canned" goofy shot animations that looked eerily similar to Live 07/08. They looked very "canned" to my untrained eye. Please feel free to correct me if I am mistaken.
Also, if a defender collides with you mid shot the animation changes to reflect that.
A "canned" shot animation would play out in a predetermined way for the moment the animation was launched.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
Honestly, I'm having a lot of fun with the controls. Sometimes clunky, but for the most part intuitive. I don't know if it helped that I've played NHL but it didn't take long for me to get used to it (i.e. right trigger for passing). Also I absolutely love the "gather" (LT) button. Everyone else has already said all the bad things about the game so no need for me to beat a dead horse.Comment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)
The inside contact animations are so fast you can barely see them and they look horrible. Its like a quick snipe that seems ugly. Man i was like really looking forward to this in a way. This definatly isn't a pickup and play game. One thing that urks me is the dribbling mechanic in real life players naturally dribble right when walking right this whole total control thing is out of hand why do i have to flick the stick right so my dribble when walking right dosen't look broken or akward. I sometimes forget it and it has caused rondo to lose the ball like he's O'neal speaking of losing the ball am i the only one who sees way to many steals happening in the game its crazy. Though scoring in the paint is difficult it looks horrible from a presentation stand point. Animations from last year seem to have made it into this game on the bench including that one guy on the lakers bench that seems to crouch down like spider man on the bench numerous times lol like why is he doing that. It seems to be the same animations every possession on the bench shooting i know has a trick to it but it should be easy to shoot with a player as they get hot. I was wide open with ray ray and missed an open 3 his shot comes and goes but come on now. I still saw bynum do that turn around jump shot right infront of the basket against kg that looked ugly and was in The miami Heat v Orlando demoComment

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available For PS3, Later Today For 360, Post Impressions Here
First off, before you people start flaming me, I understand this is a demo. But having said that, the developer himself has said this is more or less gonna be what the retail version plays like. Having said that:
I'm bummed that I can't get into this more. As someone who has been a Live fan dating back to the original Lakers vs Celtics, I am officially no longer a fan of this series. To be honest though, I have also been a huge fan of 2k since their first game too. Most of you who post here regularly have probably seen me say that I've purchased both games every year for the last 6-7 years and that's the truth. I enjoy(ed) both games a great deal.
I love the concept of the controls and it would undoubtedly take some getting used to before even being slightly comfortable, had I elected to waste any more time on this. But what lies beyond these "revolutionary controls"?? IMO, not a whole lot besides controls and commentary. Nothing else feels good about this demo. The graphics are ugly and the players have absolutely no smoothness or flow to their movement. I know the term "arcadey" is debatable, but in terms of what that word means to me, this game feels way to arcadey for my personal style. I'm disappointed and now know what Mike Wang meant when he said he wasn't happy with the direction the series was taking.
Everyone knew "Live" was changing things up this year, so I'm not surprised to have a totally different feel for the game. But I am surprised about how much I dislike it. When I fired that demo up and actually got into the game (not practice, which is pretty good) my first thought was that this is terrible. Maybe I'm being harsh, I dunno. In any event, it's just my opinion. I'm sure there will be plenty of people who think I'm crazy. To those people, I say enjoy the game.
Sorry EA. You've lost a long time customer, my money and more importantly, my faith in your product. Better luck next year.Last edited by joel0078; 09-21-2010, 06:27 PM.Comment
