That's where the gameplay fails bigtime. The game is trying to do everything it did well last year but it is struggling within the confines of the new tech. implemented.

They needed more time and more testing/feedback from guys that see this stuff. There's no excuse for the 5 on 5 gameplay to be where it is after last year.

I agree with you on the controls. Lots of guys are not taking the time. I see scenarios where they rush through and just go straight to the 5 on 5. But this is what people want - an NBA simulation.

The way players move now is just... horrid.
This. (in bold) On the mark Pared. Agree fully with you on this.

I also believe whereas the controls would maybe take time to get used to it's still made to be played from the north south camera to REALLY get a feel for the game. Even the tutorial felt good at first but then in broadcast it fell apart because your not going forward say..

We all cant turbo fly to the hoop like in this game, I know I wish I could have even in my prime! I got more joy out of throwing together a string of juke's with Rondo and watching D-Fish fall on his *** as I busted his ankles and then blew by him for a layup, then I have in any other B-ball game before...and why? because I had to work for it, I had to set him up, then take advantage when I had him in position, JUST LIKE IN REAL BASKETBALL. Thats why this game is good now and in three years could be what we all want in a basketball game. thats just my opinion though.
this guy right here knows what he is talking about! this game makes u work! this is a demo. if i'm not mistaken, alot of people were complaining about the visuals of live 10's demo last year. this year shouldnt be any different, they will fix the visuals. ea has always been great with jerseys and such. their jerseys always fit to the body and flow from the body, instead of looking like cardboard. so the stuff in the demo will be fixed. this game is for us teamplayers! we wanted control and we have it. i am psyched. there is no need for the cpu to be "life-like" now that we control every move.

i dont know if every1 noticed but u have to change the ball into the appropiate hand each time u go a different direction. if ur back is turned to the basket in the paint, u have to actually turn around or move ur guy towards the rim. u dont magically turn or animate towards it.

cant wait for some great competitive teamplay games. if people would be patient and get the controls down, it could be alot of fun.

Your are right in 3 years this game could be unbelievable, but right now its far from it. You can see where they are trying to go with it but right now it looks like an unfinished product and I am not going to pay $60 for a game that clearly needs more work, especially when the competition has a pretty good product coming out. I'm not trying to mimic what MMChirsS said in his blog but he hit the nail on the head. You can't fault the developers because they were trying to put out the best product they could with the time they had but there just wasn't enough time for everything they wanted to do. I think EA would have should have either stuck with what they had in Live 10 and just improved on that or just take a year off and just put work into really incorporating and polishing the physics and controls. With the right animations this game will feel and look great but there probably didn't have enough time this year to put a lot of work into the animations. I understand why some people are supporting this game because it shows a lot of potential but this year it is not the best basketball game on the market.

I thought the same at first Tomba, but just remember Left hand= left on the stick, Right hand = right on the stick, Once I got that implanted into my head while playing I was able to pull of some great moves while in broadcast view. I wish I had a video cam running so I could show the way I schooled D-Fish with Rondo, It was Sick!! and it was in Broadcast camera view.

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)

I like the overall feel of this game. However, it's clear that there was just too much to do in a one-year development cycle. There's a lot of things lacking in the game, but I think they could be on to something here. The controls are robust, yet easy to learn. The shooting mechanics are great (although the default shot difficulty could use a little tuning as it's a bit too easy IMO). I actually had an instance where I pulled up with Pierce and intentionally missed the shot wide left and long, which resulted in a made bank shot off the window. It really does feel rewarding to be doing these things yourself, as opposed to pressing a button and watching an animation play out.

I think I'll buy 2K, but Elite is definitely going to get a couple rentals from me. And at the same time, I'd recommend anyone to at least give Elite a try. I could see online team play being very fun and there are a number of things to like here. In the end, Elite 11 is probably a little too buggy in places for most people, but I think the foundation is there and will be eagerly looking forward to Elite 12.

Yeah, besides losing the glossy effect from last year, I dont really see the big improvement in graphics...but hey im not a graphics guy in the first place....All I know is I put in Live 10 right after playing the demo, my eyes had to adjust to that POP Live 10 gives off...noticably lacking from Elite IMO...That was part of Lives appeal to me...

The whole game just seems dull in general...If this were a one off game...like a pick up basketball game or something to that effect, itd be great...I think thats why EASBA (I think thats what it is) will be so fun\appealing....The control gives you a chance to see some rare creativity and individuality in the game... making for some legit pick up ball experiences...

From a NBA standpoint though.....just horribly generic....and the thing is, this was expected and I was still caught off guard. I know the WOW factor was supposed to be the "feel", and it feels great in some spots....but how much pride can I have in controlling some of these weird looking moves? Sure, the fact I completely controlled it is GREAT, but its like having full contol over a Pinto sometimes...

I agree it actually does feel good that there is no magical turbo boost, but change of pace is a part of basketball. I mean IRL guys can explode with a quick first step effectiveness depends on the player. Guys do sprint. Is that change of pace represented in this game? If so, where? How? I'm just learning it now so I don't know.

There's no denying that the more you play the game, the more you understand it, get more comfortable with and can see the potential the game truly has.

But, it's just the AI and animations that really need work. As someone said, kind of looks like it's a beta demo. That's ok though as the potential is definitely here.

Getting the controls down early was tough but once you have them, it's very rewarding. As above, most other areas are rough. Graphics are not poor. Seems the broadcast camera is a little too zoomed out and looks much better zoomed in. I think what gives the graphics a dour look are the skin textures as they are fairly bland.

So, the more you play the better the experience becomes but it doesn't excuse the poor AI and animations. I'm sick of seeing that hitchy rebounding animation and players passing behind them without turning at all.

Major potential but I just can't find any reasons to drop hard earned coin on a game that is 2 years off. I will continue to play the demo and will give it a rent after the patches. I understand that's why they may have included NBA Jam but I will grab that on the Wii for now. For now, Elite has promise but it's just not ready.

This is by far the worst basketball game I have ever played. First and foremost horrible controls, the devs killed the game with that alone. Secondly the physics are horrible, when your player jumps and the way he comes back down is like a sack of potatoes.

Honestly this is by far the worst game of Live I have ever played, I deleted the demo immediately. Every person who worked on this game should be fired!

What they got here is a good engine to build a 1-1 game from.

The five on five tho looks looks years away from being good.
                              Fast breaks are terrible .
Players don't seem to move right.

It seems like there is an automatic lil burst of speed, IF, you can beat the defender off the dribble.. I also found that if your close to the paint and want to attempt a layup or dunk move toward the hoop, Hit the LT button as you get close to the paint and push up on the right stick, your player will do a step through move, which seems a lil quicker than a regular dribble, and he will go in for a layup. That seems to help get by defenders a lil quicker.
