I'm pretty much convinced that there are a good chunk of posters on this thread who have not played the demo, and are youtube acolytes.

Be that as it may, It looks like "Crack Head Point Guard" has returned, in late game situations.

He's been in the detox clinic since '08, but he must have fallen off the wagon this year.

Overtime situation, and for the last 50 seconds of the game, Rondo turns into A.I. keyed up on smack.

Inbound play he immediately catches and chucks up a 22 footer.

There was still enough time on the shot clock to pass to someone coming off of the screen: Pierce or Allen perhaps, for a better shot.

He then proceeds to just jack up shots, for the next 3 trips down the floor.

Horrible, off the dribble, contested 18 foot J's.

The C's were playing well as a team up to that point, but the guy single handily, nuked the game inside of 50 seconds...it was really bizarre to witness.

I'm hating the way this game looks...the way it feels and most importantly the way it replicates basketball...Movement is clunky and robotic, colors are distorted and this is really complete setback from where LIVE was to where Elite went...I would never buy this game let alone keep it on my HD for more than one day.

I'm pretty disappointed in EA that they had a decent base with LIVE and went so far off te grid with this new game...This game definitely is not aimed for sim players...Its a travesty IMO...and its a setback for gaming in general because we were almost at the point where we had 2 decent options now that is definitely not the case...for me at least.

I guess packaging NBA Jam with this game is sort of a hint at where they think this game is going...In fact, I predict more people will buy this game for NBA Jam rather than Elite.

Tried it again w/ a clear mind. With one player in the practice gym, you can see the potential this has, but that potential isn't even closed to being realized on the court IMO....took a game that was due for a lot of animations to represent scenarios properly and a Franchise mode upgrade to.........Elite. Who needs those two things and everything else it downgraded smh.

Although in my opinion, Live10 jumpshots momentum was the best ever. It felt very natural and had a nice flow.

Something I'm noticing is that unless I call a play, I'm pretty much playing one on one vs the pointguard at times. I guess I need to call more plays.(Not sure if this is because DNA has not been implemented in the demo).

On the graphics subject, aside from the 'way too shiny' Live10 models, I was hoping for something similar to it.

          The commentary is well done.

The crowd waving the towels simultaneously does't look well. I think I see that during freethrow cutscenes.

Would have also liked a turbo button, but overall the game can be fun.
As Courtvision was saying, the better you get, the worse the game looks and feels (AI issues galore), so I'm guessing the game will feel less rewarding as you advance as a CONTROL GENIUS. How long that takes, who knows? Couple days or a month. then what? Controls can only get you so far.

The ultimate suggestion may be to follow Playmakers 'advice',and blast some loud music, kick back, and forget everything youve ever learned about the sport of basketball, and be immersed that way. It's happened to me. It reminded me of my childhood just playing SNES Nba live 97 with no care in the world.

It has that sort of pre NEXT GEN gaming feel to it. We knew Nba live 2001 was a video game. Games have been trying to get closer and closer to reality over the years..

For a change, Elite 11 appears to be going back in time, making it okay to feel and act like a video game.

It's just not fluid at all, and maybe it's me on this one, but there's a lack of fast breaks, I want to push the ball down the court when I want to and make plays...the more I play it, the more I see that this is not an authentic basketball game. I really do wish EA brings back NBA Street, especially like the way it was on PS2...Games like that they really specialize in.
Just as I suspected -no fastbreaks. These new controls notwithstanding you can't release a "sim" game with a braindead AI.

I did notice some slow down when players get close together for a dunk or during a rebound. its much harder to hit a shot than live 2010 too. I had to switch the camera angle to broadcast as well, but I was pleasantly surprised.

i used the live 2010 controls, as I dont like change.

Re: NBA Elite 11 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3, 360)

Okay, here's my take. It took me only about 3 games to get the controls down. They really are not hard, and I actually like some of the controls. I do like that the game feels very much videogame skill based. If I get a steal or a block, it's because I did it, and not based just on ratings. However, this brings to the worst part of the game. It doesn't feel, react, or look anything like basketball.

This is what happens when you get "full control" of everything on court. When player ratings are set aside and user control is completely given, then you have a game where everyone plays the same, and you have stats that are terribly inflated. My goodness, I think I had 7 blocks in that 5 minute quarter alone playing on AllStar. Steals shoot out of hands. Mid air collisions look like mid air convulsions. In fact, people refer to 2K as canned animations...so I will refer to Elite as "mid air convulsions". I like it.

Basically, the game is all over the place. It's like some altered reality of NBA basketball. It feels like 2003 when combined with the commentary and sounds as well. However, it was fun. I played the demo about 10 times and it intrigued me. If you're someone who really cares about a game being as realistic as possible, then this game should be nowhere on your list. I really don't think they can balance their physics and realism...something has to give, and after playing Elite, I completely see why 2K decided to leave some canned 2 player animations in the game. It just confirms that they are needed.

I was explaining the physics engine to an online friend, and I think I got it down. Basically, the animations are much shorter than in 2K's, which allows for more control. Think of NBA Today on 2K10. The commentary is done by splicing short bits of words and then placed together to form a sentence. It makes the game sound a bit robotic. The animations feel the same way in Elite. It's like a bunch of extremely short animations that splice together and forms what we see, which is insanity because players are flying around and wigging out all over the place.

Can the game be fun? Yes...I think it would be a fun game against a friend on a good drinking night. It has a lot of unintentional laugh out loud moments...kinda like a poorly scipted b-horror flick...it sucks, but it makes you keep watching and makes you laugh. That is Elite to me.

Live 10 was the perfect game to build off of and they went in an entirely different direction. Elite is in no way a representation of sim basketball. Slight improvements to Live 10 and a solid list of features and the Live series would have been fine. Now I think the death of this franchise is inevitable and I don't even believe NBA Jam can save it.
Agreed. All they needed to do to Live 10 was add more animations, continue to improve the AI, add more attributes to differentiate the players, allow more than 50 CAPS and fix the fastbreaks -heck I would have just settled for fixing the fastbreaks.

People crack on the graphics, which I can understand, but I would have been fine with it if the overall gameplay was there. Gameplay > Graphics

I'll check in next year for Elite 12.

                      Good luck devs.
You are correct sir. People harp to much on the graphics. I could make do with stick figures if the gameplay was authentic and realistics. EA spend your time on the AI and player tendencies

Today was my day off so I could play the demo all day long, . At last I decided to support developers direction. It's a really fun and realistic game. Yes motions are suck but everything else which developers try to do in this game is good. Real-time steal, block, cut the ball etc...especially defense is very nice. I will order this game and hope motions get better next year.

p.s. Icon pass felt delayed. please fix it devs for retail version so I can use off-ball control well.

After some hours playing with the demo I’m starting to get used to the controls, I’m felling the game better now, so I can stop playing fearfully, free my mind and try to be myself.

I think the artistic part of the game is very improvable (yes, the animations and the flow of the game look weird) but I think we have potential here, I’m gonna give Elite a chance and we will see how all this new (and -in my opinion- fresh) approach evolves over the near future…

                            Cheers.

Even more disturbing is that EA is going to go ahead and sell this alpha version for $60 to the public. Talk about beta testers ... you would be a fool not to wait on this one a year.
The suits would never approve of a longer dev cycle which this game really needs. They depend on the revenue stream a yearly release generates and they know they have a dependable buying pool to justify it. And let's face it - even on this site we so called hard-core simheads complain more about graphics or wether the bench reactions are realistic or if a player has the right kind of socks than if the game plays a realistic brand of basketball. Seems the arcade brand of basketball has a bigger audience.

I just wanted to quote this because it is a perfect example of a weird scenario that I see througout the game. It is just one weird little thing after another. I really am amazed that this game is going to release like this.

Like alot of people on here, I wish they would have built on Live 10 because I really liked that game alot and saw a ton of potential with it. I put it in last night after playing the demo and it just made the demo look that much worse.
