    I'm really trying to understand why some are saying one of the positives of this game is that "When I get a steal or block, I did it myself!"

    Um, so what basketball games were you playing before where you didn't initiate your own blocks and steals? Sure, your AI team mates may have picked some up themselves, but I see no way in which Elite 11 has superior on ball defense to any other game.

    I've found the number of steals to be absurd myself. Why the hell is Rondo constantly being ripped off the dribble for no reason? Are you telling me Chris Paul is going to have a hard time just keeping his dribble? That's sure what it looks like.

    Blocking in itself is just broken. I can't get behind the instant, high flying perimeter defense being played by EVERYONE in the league. Ray Allen shouldn't be able to instantly rise up and slap away Kobe's shot, especially when Kobe was already in a shooting motion BEFORE he got into position. Please.

    I can't tell if you guys are just being nice or if you don't know what you're talking about?

        Aim the pass with the left stick, execute the pass with RT.

        The longer you hold down RT, the farther the pass will go.

        As you hold down RT, there will be an indicator displayed under the player the pass is intended to go to based on your inputs.

        This will change as you change your aim, or as you power up longer.

        This should give you a better idea of what influence you inputs have on the pass targetting, and should help remove the mystery of where the pass is going to go.

          * Visually the series needs an overhaul. I think most people realize this. I can live with the subpar graphics / player models, but it's 2010-2011. It's unacceptable for them to be so far behind animation-wise and signature style-wise. This isn't an XBLA game, step it up. Being weak in this area kills replay value for me. I can play 2k for a year and see animations I've either never seen before or have rarely seen.

          Even the most basic of animations have no fluidity and look robotic/awkward. Enough is enough, they need to take care of these things to be taken serious as a NBA franchise. It's really baffling to me that animations and basic transiitions are still this bad. This is way more concerning to me than the graphics.

          * The game has potential. They are providing a viable alternative. I don't agree with people who wanted an upgraded Live 10. What would the purpose of that be? 2k11 is already an upgraded Live 10 way beyond what EA could have done. They needed to provide something that 2k doesn't gameplay-wise.

          * It's weird how the cpu just stands in front of you defending you like a statue. I like that they don't bite on anything and everything, but visually it looks like a video game and not like basketball.

          * I'm big into user vs. user gameplay so I'm not that concerned about poor AI in regards to playing against the cpu. I will wait to see vids of user vs. user online and to see if they have a decent online setup for this game. I'm definitely open to giving it a try.



          I felt Live 10 was so strong in this area. Actually it might have been the best I've seen in a basketball game. I don't agree with those who wanted a upgraded Live 10, but I will agree it would have been nice of they had incorporated this new structure and maintained more of the strong points from Live 10.

          Those are just my early thoughts based on a couple hours. I could change my mind as time goes on.

          People still don't get it. Whether you play cpu vs. cpu, user vs. cpu, or user vs. user, without a strong, realistic AI all game modes will suffer. It is just like the bass in music and black levels for video - without those foundations realism suffers. Accurate player tendencies and a robust AI is where they should be spending their time. Once they nail those, everything else will be gravy. I implore the developers to listen - you need to make sure the foundation is solid before trying to be esoteric. The synergy/dynamic dna stuff is great in theory but look how it destroyed fastbreaks in Live 10. Fix the foundation.

            GARBAGE!!!! I hate 2 say it but EA has fallen off major!!! they messed up TIGER, MADDEN, and now NBA!!! they not getting anymore of my money!!! definitely getting NBA 2k 11!!! it's tight!!!

              The performance issues on ps3 were being addressed right up to the end, so they should be fixed, yes.

              I haven' played the final approved game yet, but it was one of the last things being worked on when I left.

                Im on a 62' HD HITATCHI and it just doesnt look good to me graphic wise...If it were presented to me on YouTube as a last gen mod, I wouldnt doubt it for a second...and thats not to be disrespectful or anything...

                  First of all, I'd like to thank you for your participation in this forum. I didn't like the demo at first mainly because I was 'intimidated' by the new control scheme. Once you get the controls down, Elite 11 is actually a fun game. Yes it has it's "issues".....but I believe with PATCHING and a few slider edits, this game can be very playable.

                  rEAnimator....what exactly is being addressed for the PS3 version. Can you give detailed information?

                  Is it possible to enhance any graphical issues because there is a noticable difference between how the game looks on 360 and how it looks on the PS3.

                  Also will the Lakers jersey (purple outline not visible on letters + numbers) be fixed in the final/retail version?

                  Thanks for your time. Looking forward to purchasing Elite 11.

                    Well, basketball games typically rely on ratings which create percentages of whether a steal or block will be successful. Like in 2K, if you swipe for the ball, it's like rolling the dice with certain odds. A higher steal rating will mean that your odds are more obtainable.

                    In Elite, it's nice that it feels like you control these things, but then you don't get the feeling of the individual players. Also, if you're someone who cares about stats, I don't see how the gameplay in Elite can obtain reasonable stats in a game that is longer than 5 minute quarters. Heck, I had 6 blocks in one 5 minute demo on the Allstar level.

                    Basically, something has got to give. You give such control, but take away the individual players identity, or make it like 2K where it is more ratings and percentage based, but give up some control on the user.

                      They can successfully do this via animations and success rate. It does not seem like the success rate differs enough from player to player, and their new system may need them to look at their ratings a bit more closely now.

                      But you are right overall. The way things are now, player differentiation isn't noticeable enough for people to accept in a sports game for 2010.

                        Just framerate issues. No point in getting any more detailed than that.

                        There were some ps3 specific framerate issues that should be ironed out for retail.

Ratings seperate a great stealer from an average stealer. If anyone can get a steal simply based on the controls, then what is there to seperate the great players from the average players?

                              I'll try my best here:

                              In most sports, things like a steal is based on an animation and a dice roll. A mathematical equation dictating success rate for the steal. X player has a success rate of blank while ball handler has a handling/turnover rate of blank. Then, you tie that into any other moves being done. Based on the outcome, you play a success/fail/call a foul animation.

                              In Elite, the player hand is an actual object. If the hand touches the ball, another object being tracked, it pops loose and RTP take over. There is no animation based on the dice roll. If this same hand hits the other players body or hand, a foul should be called.

                              This was my understanding of it.

                                ea, i almost feel bad for you but hey i have stay 100% true about how i feel about this game. it is straight out horrible, i dont no what you guys where thinking about, but all the changes that where made dont make sence at all. i loved live 10 because of the natural flow the game had, but this game feels so dry that its not even funny. this is crazy that you guys even thought that this game was basketball. this is 2010 not 98, man im just lost for words. this game is a failure.
