How is that different from any other basketball video game ever made ? I mean, holding up on the analog stick = pressing down a button. The only difference being that you have to hold the analog stick straight and the button always is pressed straight.

I'm really liking the new controls and am trying to master them. Now the only thing that concerns me is I will spend all this time mastering the new controls and getting use to RTP, EA will start all over again if sales are bad. Obvioulsy from reading this forum a lot of you guys don't like the current game but I really hope EA sticks to the 3 year plan. I can't handle another change, lol.

Just toying around w/ it...Good news is ive pretty much mastered the controls....Bad news is ive pretty much mastered the controls, lol. Has anyone else noticed that you can infinitely dribble to the right or left w/o the ball hitting the ground? I think this a one of those cases of "too much control" people were talking about?l

I feel there are good number of people like myself who like the controls. My only gripes are no sprint button and I don't like R2 passing. I don't like the icon passing either.

R2 passing is actually feeling natural for me because I have been playing a lot of NHL 11 lately. I agree with you about the sprint button. I do miss it.

But gaming has moved past 2003 ...gone? I think I'm not alone when I say I expect so much more from todays Gen sports game. I want signature walks, moves, shots and dunks. I want signature team plays and offensive and defensive schemes. I'm sure if I spent more time on the controls this would be a lackluster 1 on 5 arcady experience of a game. But like I wrote at the beginning of this post ... I've played those games earlier in the decade. I need and expect so much more for my 60 bucks. Maybe they can bundle it with the Sports Illustrated package...again to move it off the shelves. Umm ... is this game targetting the Wii Generation?

That's what I think it really is, this game is for the Wii generation, that want to control every aspect of the game no matter how it looks or plays to its real life counterparts! I think, if your the type of gamer that loves the Wii and what it does and represents to gamers this game is for you. If you want style, signature,NBA authencity, you like the other game! Myself, well, lets just say I won't give my answer in this the Elite thread.

Wow...now people complain about having TOO MUCH control...I am LOVING that part of the game personally...in other games (including Live 10) I got sick of driving to the basket only to be "forced" into a crazy, windmill flip shot...in Elite if I'm driving to the basket and someone steps in front of me, I love being able to adjust to a left or right-handed layup - whatever I choose...in the other games I am constantly "surprised" by how my player finishes a shot which to me shouldn't happen - even if that "finish" looks really cool or realistic...if I didn't choose to do that move then it's not satisfying...

I agree, I'm really digging the control I have like you mentioned. It makes it better than Live 10 for that reason alone. I absolutely hated the 2 player canned animation in Live 10 when I was driving to the basket.

Having to constantly make sure the ball is in the proper hand while moving around the court is the hardest part IMO. Not that it's difficult, it's just extremely awkward.
isnt every basketball game like that with shooting and timing. the thing with elite is you have to have it straight.

I seen a couple post where people say they have been going 10/10, 9/10 and so on. If thats true then you are very talented at this and i dont see why you would not like that. it means you are doing something right. I just dont understand. If a player shoots 40% from the field irl do you want the game to make 40% of his shoots go in the make the rest go out, our have that reflected in how big the sweet spot is at different spots on the court which is what dna is for.

I hardly make shots that im being contested on from mid range on out. The cpu on the other hand is just like live 10. when they are down it seems like every player shoots like kobe

And i like that about having to have the ball in the correct hand. Everytime i have to ball in the wrong hand guess what happens. The cpu knocks it out. it punishes me for making that mistake.

To me, its not about having to much control...I love the fact that I have that much control. I've stated that before in this thread...Its satisying to know that I just did what I did and I know why and how it did what it did. If that makes sense to you?? On the other hand, there's only some many times I can watch the way this game moves and how bad it looks doing it! I'm sorry this game is just and eye sore, really so much so if you look at games like NCAA and Mad The Show for instance. With all the style and flair of real NBA players I want my Kobe Bryant to have Kobe Bryant signature style and flair! Something this game lacks, very much so. To me, its just a matter of opinions and taste. But I think, the general conseus on this title is overwhemly to one end of this specturum....

I love the challenge with the dribbling...when I try to go right with the ball in my left hand, I should be slower and should get my pocket picked for that...it's one more thing to pay attention to which to me is great...

I admire Elite for the innovation of total control in this installment of EA's B-Ball game. I for one, like that you have control in game....but what happened to the graphics and AI!?!? Playing the "other" demo, I was blown away with presentation and all the little trimmings.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the boldness of EA in taking the line in another direction and trying something new, but if this is where they are taking the retail version...I'm sorry I'm not giving them my money.

Overall I give it 6 out of 10

yea i was not understanding why sometimes my player would be move slow and jogging until rea explained about the not being able to have a quick first step in if the ball is in the wrong hand and i totally see what he means now. For example when i would try and go around the pick i wasnt paying attention to what hand the ball was in. i was just focused on trying to get around the pick and see what the d was doing but my player would be in the jogging like dribble but after rea told me that i started playing attention to what hand the ball was in and a lot of time when i would be in the jogging dribble the ball was in the wrong hand.

Now i dont have that problem because i always switch it to the right hand.

To add to that i love that you have to switch the ball hand yourself instead of an animation switching ball hands because you simply change directions

I still would love even a subtle turbo button. Thats a major mistake i think they made by not putting that in.
