So does this mean your going to get a copy or are you going to wait for Elite 12?
Okay while I'm still not sure if Elite 11 is worth full price, i think i will be grabbing myself a copy soon after the street date or a patch or two hits. I have to say this.......the first time i played the demo, my thoughts was WTF, What the he\| , how could, how could they , why did they change the game so much????? Well i still don't know why ea changed it but, I'm starting to really like this demo. After some REAL playtime today i can see what EA has done.....well at lease in my eyes, They made this game so the person on the sticks can have fun with it,control whatever move, whenever we want......But to do this you have to put the time in. The right stick is like your body and once you move it...... your arms move as if you had a ball in your hands for real. I love the defence in this game, just wish some movements were alot more smoother than they are. Can't wait to see what the final build is like. Also I'm on the 360 with this.

This game should never have been released ...this is not a finished product period.

will there be a patch for floater shots and/or a sprint button? i understand the notion for not having turbo but if there was a way to have a limited sprint, fastbreaks could be alot better. it could be like the sprint that was in the older versions of live, where there was a meter. i couldn't do a floater. i have done them but i am referring to the one-handed chris paul/tony parker version.

Just tried to play this game again...couldnt stomach it. NBA Elite almost reminds me of the days when you were just satisfied that your player had the mapped on faces of your basketball heroes. Could play those games all day long. But gaming has moved past 2003 ...gone? I think I'm not alone when I say I expect so much more from todays Gen sports game. I want signature walks, moves, shots and dunks. I want signature team plays and offensive and defensive schemes. I'm sure if I spent more time on the controls this would be a lackluster 1 on 5 arcady experience of a game. But like I wrote at the beginning of this post ... I've played those games earlier in the decade. I need and expect so much more for my 60 bucks. Maybe they can bundle it with the Sports Illustrated package...again to move it off the shelves. Umm ... is this game targetting the Wii Generation?

Every since they installed DNA the fastbreaks have been the biggest down fall of the new addition......everyone seems programmed to revert to DNA tendencies and not run the break properly at all. It also doesn't help that EA seems to code this game to deliberately not allow fast breaks

Last Year they had every single player in the game rated 0 for fast break anticipation...i still believe that code was used to allow the DNA to have precedence over the fast break logic of the players in order to keep it from becoming a unrealistic dunk fest on the break.

Sounds like a good idea but it destroyed the way players behaved on the break
That makes sense. Too bad bc IMO live was the best at simulating fast breaks once upon a time. I'm talking 3-on-1 and 2-on-1, stuff like that. Not just "ooh I stripped the ball from the PG at the top of the key and now I'm running solo the other way with no one in front of me for an easy dunk."

OK, the discussion, the questions...the back and forth ends now. This is for IMPRESSIONS ONLY. Bans /warnings will ensue. I'm not going to go back through the previous 30 pages from today (because many will have missed the warning), but from this point forward (again) only post impressions please.

                  I've played four games.

The first I was just screwing around trying to learn controls. Noticed if you get the shot timing down, you will never miss.

The second I went 9/10 with Kobe (all off balance shots), getting blocked once.
The third I 10/10 with Kobe, again all off balance.
The fourth I went 11/12 with Rondo shooting, got blocked once.

Shooting 90% or higher every game? Entirely possible, and completely ridiculous.

Hard to believe u, dude, hard to believe u...

As for me, I think I am truly digging this game now. It's like the ugly girl who no one wants to mess with but once u get past her looks then u get to know her and u see how much she truly shines when u spend time with her and in many cases, better than the uber pretty chick that gets all of the attention (kinda get my comparison, eh? heh).
I honestly have started thinking that I won't be getting 2K11 on day one. Maybe down the line (I will save my dough for The Fight for the Move that comes out the next week, instead) I'll get it, just not on day one...maybe. I want to dig into the retail version of Elite 11.

                      Will do...just not tonight.

                      Great summary.

I worked on alley oops this year. I think the xploit thing may be a valid concern (can be tuned though) but I'm curious why you think they look bad? I thought they looked quite good to be honest. You don't have the slowdown thing from ;last year and the ball contact is bang on.

                      Just curious.

I played some more some of this demo tonight don't ask me why.....

But i think EA would have done much better by simply allowing the game to play more uptempo

Call me crazy but if your not going to cater to SIM style players why not let the game flow.

If the fastbreak logic wasn't so messed up this would probably be a solid game for those just looking to get up and the down floor Phoenix or Golden St style.

Less bad animation you have to witness if your running and gunning and less flaws you'd see in the AI during halfcourt sets. Maybe if possible they could open up the transistion game with a patch.

I mean if your asking us to waite 2-3 years before everything comes together atleast make the gameplay fun.......let us dictate the tempo pick up the pace and just work in transistion. I could probably enjoy it playing that style because it suits my Mavs.

Make the CPU aggressive in transition like they were in Live 07.....the best part of that game was it's ability to get out and run. I'd rather see high flying dunks than a bunch whack looking layups or erractic jumpers in the paint with guys facing away from their own basket.

How about it EA can this be done or what?

Compliment the controls with a uptempo game because i can't see this game functioning properly in the half court. Most of these guys are going to hate playing offline because of the AI but hey one way to make AI fun for offline play is get them out running the floor. Speed up the tempo take it back 3-4 years when the game excelled in the open floor.

Kinda like Phoenix and Golden St you aren't going to win the crown at the end of day but hey your fans will love the style of play despite your short comings in the other parts of the game.

Hell over half the league is trying to play uptempo now and lots of squads use a 3 guard lineup at different stages of a game. Give that USER who just can't stomach the bad animations or half court play by the CPU a reason to keep playing the game.

A game dominated by Fastbreak basketball might not be what your was coming in but for this year I think it would help more than hurt the community because they'll atleast have something beyond controls that makes them find the game entertaining.....it's a crazy idea i know but you might be shocked by how many guys stick around and use that approach even if its just for pick up and play games.

YO ReAn or anyother dev, It is extremly easy to hit shots 3's none the less at will just pumpfaking then shoot in the defenders face. The timing isnt that hard and its on superstar. Y is it so easy?

And kobe is taking off like James white in front of defenders???... outside the paint when good D was being played..... other than these and defenders not blocking oop passes the game is koo.......

Still shooting is waaaaaaaaaayyyyy too easy.

This game is not as bad as I thought it would be (reading this thread really made me expect something really bad). The controls layout actually do make sense but I would like to see more options when shooting(types of shots in different situation). The be a legend mode is fun as expected but it did not really give me an idea how it will really feel in a season environment.

I don't like that they removed the turbo button but maybe it has something to do with RTP. I just hope they can bring it back because this kinda contradicts the "control everything" mantra. And running does not feel natural at all it feels like my foot is nailed to the floor or something.

My updated list after playing one more day:

                              - No turbo button (feels like the player only has 1 gear)

                              - Players play too much over the rim (offensively and defensively)

                              - Too easy to steal (makes the game feel even quicker, because the ball is constantly changing hands, if you spam the steal button, you easily steal the opponent, exploit)

                              - Alley oops are too unnatural, and feel too easy
(one of the reasons for this is AGAIN the fact that the game plays to much over the rim, so guys jump like crazy hight, the passes for the respective oops are impossible to miss, and I haven´t seen the dunker missing the ball reception, or even the dunk, and limited user control, exploit)

                              - Almost no contextual animations (we see players shooting jumper when they could and should easily do a layup or a hook-shot because they are close to the the basket, just an example)

                              - Players skating a lot (we see players jumping on pump-fakes, and then warping in the air so they could stay in the play, and players skating, so they can regain position easily)

                              - Very dubious box-out (players often start running/jumping to the ball instead of boxing-out first, and then going after the ball)

                              - Players shooting jumpers with their back to the basket (sometime , when you do a bad series of moves, and you end up with your back to the basket, when you shoot, sometimes your man turns around to shoot, but sometimes you see him looking up to the stars, and shooting backwards, looks bad, and simply impossible to do in real life)

                              - Force fields on D (this goes against the "total control" that this game is shooting for)

                              - Defensive Stance (I don´t have a suggestion, I can only say that sometimes the user gets burned, losing control of the player, or the player simply moves slower then the cutter and bamm POSTER BOY)

                              - When a double team is on my post player, the guy that is alone should do 1 of 3 things, ether cut to the basket to the open layup, make 1 or 2 steps forward, and shoot a mid-jumper, or stay at the 3 point line, based on what the real counterparts do (I saw Ray Alen staring at Pau with both feet on the 3 point line with a open lane to the basket, neither did he cut, or assured that when I passed the ball he would immediately hit a 3pter)

                              - Pulling back on the right stick should have a dribble move attached to it (DEVS should try and take advantage of it to put another move in there)

                              - Can´t pump fake under the basket (important when the paint is crowded)-

                              - Too easy to dunk
(the rocket dunks and the jumping abilities all help, but I feel that the DEV team can try and make them more user unfriendly, like the layups, I actually feel like the layups are very rewarding, not too difficult, and not 100% guaranteed success, I don´t have a controller solution for this, but dunking in traffic should be difficult to pull off)

                              - RTP collisions ( I think Mr. rEAnimator already explained to us why this happen, but when you jump over a guy with his feet on the ground, for example, you see the guy almost stopping in the air for a brief moment, it almost feel like it is calculating what to do, regardless of the animation he is doing in the air, it is like he stops, and it also happens when both are in the air, but actually both animations get higher in the air after the collision, they gain air under them, it is difficult to explain)

                              Visual side of things:

                              - Signature stuff
(Right now this is not a NBA experience)

                              - Player differentiation (after seeing that Bynum video when he looses the ball, you felt like big men would have trouble dribbling, Pau can dribble like a PG, don´t forget, it is different to do dribble moves in the post, then when you are facing the basket with a guy in front of you, this game doesn´t do a good job in that regard..... Rondo in this game isn´t quicker then Fisher, I saw him losing ground in a open fast-break opportunity, coming from behind, no turbo???)

                              - Player have 0 urgency (they sometimes feel like they are just running around or simply standing still, the body language is non existent, and if you want people to FEEL the game, the players should look like they are actually playing a b-ball, like the crowd does in Elite, the players should as well)

#1 How many times is the damn jesus video going to be brought up? One glitch a guy caught on tape and everyone brings it up. HOW MANY OF YOU HAD IT HAPPEN TO YOU?????"

It triggers often for me when calling a play. When I then exit out of the game to start a new one, the game is locked at the menu. I have to quit to the PS3 menu to restart the demo.
