I gurantee you, that during the Christmas season or new years, jam will be available on psn and live, maybe even sooner if Elite 11 sales are terrible.

Re: Anyone else buying Elite for Nba Jam Only?

Since when does EA spend time and money developing two games to sell for the price of one.

Granted much of the development was done for the Wii version but there is still a considerable investment porting it to the HD consoles and adding online multiplayer. You have to question what the suits at EA are thinking on this one. It is all an entire debacle.

NBA Jam is no Halo beta. No amount of nostalgia for Jam is going to sell the $60 NBA Elite - beside, what guy under 30 has fond, or any, memories of Jam. Not that the Wii is tuned into that nostalgic age group either.

The stripped down 'DLC' version comes in HD and has online MP. The $50 full retail version does not. That is quite a slap to Wii owners.

The fact Jam is being delivered via a download to Elite buyers is pretty telling that it is probably going public if sales of either Wii Jam or Elite are poor....and I would expect both to be.

Better IDEA would have been to do one game this year. NBA Jam.

Sell the full NBA Jam on all three systems for $50. The kicker, included with NBA Jam is a code to access the upcoming "NBA Elite Preview". The preview is made available around the time of the NBA Playoffs and consist of just that - the NBA playoffs. This isn't a temporary beta but a permanent, and more fleshed out, downloadable game you get some 5 months ahead of the full NBA Elite 2012 game.

Bonus is that after retail Jam sales fade, EA could release the stripped down 'arcade' version of NBA Jam for $25 and later sell the Elite Preview to anyone without the code.

Now EA is making money on all fronts instead of cannibalization each other. They are giving people who might not be fans of Jam an incentive to actually try it. Most importantly they are letting Elite mature before showing it and when it is revealed it is basically sold as a 'teaser' - building hype for its full reveal in 2011...which will go up against a Jordan-less NBA 2K.

I will not be. I can't do it.
Tho it was smart on Ea's part, whether its a sleazy move or not is a question to be answered elsewhere. Its a smart business move to be sure.
they KNOw Elite will get trounced in the sales department so adding a game in that people want to play is smart.
I just hope they dont say "Look Elite sold so and so many copies this month, we did great!' when u cant be sure how much of those sale are due to the fact that they bundled in another game along with it.

in any event, as much as i loved NBA Jam back in the old days, i will not support a poor (imo) effort from their flagship game just to play a few modes of an arcade hoops game.

Ha if EA is smart they make you have to launch NBA Jams from inside Elite.

Guys I do believe that the NBA Elite disc needs to be in the console to allow you to play NBA Jam.

I have funny memories of playing that with my brother on Dreamcast. He made a character that was a white horse and it's nickname was Crispy - funny ish..

As for the question, no, I'm not buying Elite for NBA Jam Only.

This is my dilemma on that. I have a wii but with only one controller. On my 360 I have four controllers and it is online. My ps3 as well. I want jam so bad but the fact that I only have 1 wii controller is hurting my decision.

I don't see why anyone would shell out $60 for an arcade game that I remember paying 50 cents to play at an arcade machine. And correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't I only play that game for 2 minutes at a time, too? Let's think rationally, people.
