Why I Know NBA Elite Will Fail (Unfortunately)

I am an EA fan and have always bought NBA Live as well as other EA sports games and there is no way I am buying Elite 11, not a chance.

I even tried to like Elite 11, I want to like it, tried to like it, but no way, it's awful.

If EA can't sell me on it, a major EA fan, then there is no way they are going to get others on it who are not as enthusiastic as I am.

    Not good.

I will either be playing NBA Live 10 this year or may even purchase an NBA2k title (NBA2K11) for the first time ever.

Like I said, if EA can't even get an EA enthusiast like me to buy the game, good luck.

You didn't give a single reason, other than, because I don't like it, no one else will.

IF you have to like any video game then thats not good. Its so funny cause on the home page they talk about espn broadcast settings and making it feel like a real game when it dosen't even look like one

That is the most important reason. My point is, if you can't even get an EA enthusiast like me to even like it, and I really WANTED to like it, well then good luck.

Yeah it is awful in some ways i don't disagree with that notion.

I hated it at 1st and still wish it could be a SIM but hey it's not and i've decided to just live with it for this year. I guess most guys can enjoy NBA Street or NBA Jam for some reason I can't play those types of games.

But with ELite i think i can kinda have fun with it playing a arcade style of course it'll be a controlled arcade style of play.

I know it sounds like i'm doing a complete 180 from a few days ago.....in reality i'm just accepting the fact now that it isn't a SIM style game and once i did that and started playing the game on Super Star level it became a lot more reasonable for me on the court.

I'm not telling anyone to buy the game but if you like uptempo b-ball just pick up play games then I think this game can be a little fun but you have to kinda be like me and understand going in that it's not a SIM. I don't condone what they've done in any way but i'm a basketball junkie and i've been getting both games the past 3 years although i've played more 2K in the last year and will probably play it more again this year for dynasty/franchise purpose.

Like i said I wish it was a SIM but hey it's more of controlled arcade style of game if that makes any sense.....guys will do crazy dunks and crazy shots no doubt

The only way it 'fails' is if they dont commit to the direction (Highly possible, given their history).

I actually think they are onto something, its just a matter of dedication to the 'direction' for once.

We've been through 3 changes in 10 years

              - Freetyle control/freestyle superstar
              - Quick Strike Dribbling System (The best dribbling mechanic EVER in my opinion)
              - Total Control/Real Time Physics

That's ALOT. It needs to end.

I know a lot of people on here dont like elite but just because one person or long time live fan dont like it does not mean everybody else will not like whats been done to the game.

Everybody has there own personal taste.

You may be right in the game might fail because who knows with so much going around the forum nobody knows yet but to say that just because you dont like it others wont is pushing it

The reason Elite is not going to do well this year is simple there is no excitement for the game on one is talking about midnight releases, where can I get the game early, where are those threads those are the signs of disinterest by a large amount of consumers even on EA own website there is a disconnect with the core gamers and the direction of the game they want to defend it but there is not much you can say that does not have to do with controls even RTP has lost its spark.

This reminds me of how I felt about NBA 2k4. God I loved 2k-2k3. Luckily Live 2004 was back.

You may be right. Like i said just from seeing whats going on in this forum it very well could fail but who am i to say that it is or its not until the results are in which is sales.

There are so many factors that could help the sales of this game for example nba jam. I didnt think people would buy elite just to get jam but i seen people on here, youtube, and twitter say they are getting elite just to get jam. When those sales numbers come in it dont show you how many people brought it to get jam though. Another factor is some people are still going to get elite no matter what because they have been a fan of ea for so long and refuse to switch

As long as im happy with the game i get then im good lol.

Re: Why I Know NBA Elite Will Fail (Unfortunately)

Like I have said numerous times, Elite is not awful. Is it a sim? No. Does that mean it will not be fun? Not at all.

Everyone has different tastes in games. Every company tries something to differentiate itself from the competition. As much as I like 2K's game, the control scheme is a tad daunting. If 2K were to use this same control scheme, I doubt that we would have as many people bashing the game.

People spend more time trying to find ways to bash games these days instead of playing them for what they are. I believe Elite will carry a fun factor. For those into true sims, 2K is probably the way to go. If you want to try something different although some parts of the game may not stack up to 2K, Elite will not be a terrible offering.

Be A Pro mode was fun in the demo. The controls, although it has a bit of a learning curve, actually are decent.

Too many people on these forums don't just offer their opinions but bash those that have opinions that differ.

I am getting both for different reasons. I like EA's control scheme much better but I like 2K's depth....
                        What?

Locking this up, constructive criticism is needed. Just because you're not excited for it does not mean NBA Elite will fail.
