another thing this is the biggest nba season coming out this year prolly ever.. Nba season been so hyped up this year ratings for these games gonna be out the roof.. This was wrong year to cancel a video game.. Especially with all that free agency hype during the summer.. All these teams trying to get the lakers title away from them.. Nba might just surpass football as a bigger sport if this year goes as plan for NBA... I been watching nba all my life and i have to say this year have me craving too watch NBA..

I feel the Elite/Live team should decide not to release the game for the 2011 season,go back to the EA sports studio and improve the animations,graphics,glitches,and gameplay,then 8 or 9 months from now come back at E3 2011 with a totally revamped game that they will blow the doors of the basketball gaming community.Allow most of us to feel confident in purchasing a basketball game from EA.

See I'm thinking that EA is going to be alright on the revenue front on PS3/360 this year, b/c they do have the new NBA Jam in their back pocket.

I think Jam will do well, given the overall (imo) lack of real marketing for the game.. I wonder if EA is kicking themselves for not pushing it harder as a major release.

The marketing for Jam will probably ratchet up pretty quickly now, as it will most likely be EA's only basketball "bread-winner" this year. I mean, they have to market the hell out of it now, don't they?

I think the first part is a bit of a stretch, but I seriously believe the devs think this is a good game. That is, by far, the most troubling part of all of this. I, like many others, think Live '10 was a very good solid foundation that could've challenged 2k THIS year for sales if the developers let the game progress. I am not going to sit here and bash the crew of EA, but I know reAnimator and stepsix have a job to do, and if they don't do that job successfully, they will not hold that position much longer. So, they are going to do what they can to get the community to buy in to what they are selling. I don't fault them for that, but I do place the blame on whoever is in charge on delivering the final product. The only solutution to keep this series going, with credibility, would be to blow gamers away next year, not this. I am a 32 year old single father, hell 33 come Tuesday, with 2 young kids and in the military, so I am as casual as they get. I think I stand for all casual (fun) gamers saying, Live (Elite) is the worst ever. Take the time and come back next year EA. We will love you more for trying to earn our respect, than earn our dollars.

That's a great point. It makes me think there were some serious "behind the scenes" issues that went into the decision to pull the game...and honestly, we'll probably never know the whole truth unless some Suit gets mad at his/her employer and decides to leak it to the media.

I think they have to now.

I mean even people who were huge fans of the original don't even know about the new version coming out.. Perfect example: my best friend lives for Jam on the old nintendo whenever we get together, and he had no idea Jam was coming out until I told him a couple weeks ago. Commercials are needed asap.

Delaying it or not, EA is just delaying the inevitable. See, MJ is on the cover and in the game for 2K11. Even if 2K11 playability/AI/Graphics suk`d , bball gamers would buy it because of MJ.
Seriously, from past experiences I don`t expect EA to release a decent Elite11, it is just a market strategy to reduce damages and losses. On the other hand, now that NBA JAM is coming out in solo, I`m sure I`m gonna get it (and I look forward to seeing MJ and Pippen @ Bulls )

Wow!!! Gamestop has March 2011, that's too dang far away!!! I was thinking January at the latest!

Why not just cancel it all together and work on Elite 12, and NCAA Basketball 12. A 2 year cycle will assure a much more polished product. Because think about it, were going to buy 11 almost on April 1st, and then Elite 12 in October 2011. That's 6 months apart. Why not just work and complete 12.

Overall, I think you guys can do so much better, and Live 10 proved you have the capabilities. Either way I can't wait to see the improvements as times moves closer to release.

I do think that most "casual" gamers that don't really pay attention to forums such as this would gravitate towards a basketball game with Michael Jordan on the cover because of his notoriety. But regardless of who's on the cover, my purchase is based on the fact that the playability/AI/graphics do not suck. Some would argue with me on that fact but it's all subjective. And throw in the fact that I'll only have one option come October 5th now. For this year, I honestly feel that there will only be one option, even if Elite does release sometime in 2011, I'll need to be blown away to make that purchase and from what I've seen with the direction they were planning on going in, that's not going to happen. Until next year EA

The entire dev team found out this morning. A bit of a shock as you might imagine.

Nothing apart from what you read in Peter Moore's blog has been decided yet. I've been in meetings all day discussing the possibilities.

One thing you can be sure of is that the community will be heavily involved, which shouldn't come as a surprise since the community feedback was one of the major driving factors in the decision.

reAnimator, you are an absolute professional.Your composure in the face of all of this has been fantastsic. You have stuck around and copped flack,but all the while stood behind a game that you believed still could be enjoyed by many.I must admit I was really looking forward to next week,I have loved the demo,but admit some things needed a bit more work.To think that the community has had such a influence is a really good thing and im sure the extra work you put into the game will make it ELITE,all the best champ!

Why not just cancel it all together and work on Elite 12, and NCAA Basketball 12. A 2 year cycle will assure a much more polished product. Because think about it, were going to buy 11 almost on April 1st, and then Elite 12 in October 2011. That's 6 months apart. Why not just work and complete 12.

right now, nba elite 11 is delayed. they will probably have more meetings, as this decision seemed fast. hopefully its canceled so it doesn't mess up elite 12's cycle.

graphics has to be on point next yr. scrap the high-saturation lights and the weird bodies. more like player model. is it too early to start a wishlist?
