Great post man. I agree with everything you said. My question is, why are people thanking EA for this move? I've been an EA supporter for over 20 years. Since Peter Moore took over EA, he has been slowly alieniating the offline consumer. EA's main goal for all their products is online gaming because DLC is a cash cow. I feel for the offline consumer because as long as Peter Moore is heading EA they will continue to slowly alieniate the offline gamer. They don't care about the consumer. The devs were trying to sell us a game that wasn't worth $30. Some of their posts were close to calling the consumer "dumb" because we don't see what they are seeing in their product or vision. EA seriously needs to get rid of Peter Moore before the backlash hit their other products, mainly madden.

EA has more good titles than it does bad. I very much doubt we'll see any backlash.

Even with a few more months or however much time they're getting, I don't know if this development team really knows what people want out of basketball games. They seemed to think that everyone would enjoy the demo but that didn't happen and they were pretty set on a lot of the things that people here didn't like seeing.

I know one thing, the bulleye is squarely on EA back. Especially if they decide against releasing 11. Having 2 years to release a game leaves you Absolutely NO excuses. And if you release a subpar game after so much time of development time, EA Basketball will Not recover from it. Good luck with your goal. With that being said, i just don't see Peter Moore letting a two years go bye without a NBA Live/Elite title.

Honestly, I am stunned. I applaud EA for having the guts to eat a lot of $$$ and do what is ultimately the right thing.

That being said, the fans have to keep EA's feet to the fire. If EA decides to try to rush out a version to be launched at the NBA All-Star Weekend, then that is a sign that EA isn't serious and is just waiting out the negatives.

If EA decides they want to really refocus and not release until October 2012, then I will be convinced that EA is really serious about their NBA franchises.

So, a good thing for the fans to have their voices heard. But until we see the product released, we won't know to what degree we've been heard.

While Peter Moore is ultimately in charge of the whole global EA Sports operation, it's the management team at the individual studios that dictate the day to day happenings on each project.

In the case of the NBA franchise, the GM of the EA Vancouver studio is someone named Pauline Moller. The buck stops with her. The individual devs like reAnimator don't deserve much of the blame (a tiny bit maybe, but not really). They are soldiers who march in the direction they are told to march. The devs are your true allies. They care. They may not have any power to change decisions, but they do give a crap about the game. They make normal amounts of money and do it mostly because they like making games.

Stop applauding EA, its a good move, but its not worth an applause. Let's see what Live 12 brings to the table. If it messes up, or doesn't live up to the hype of a 2yr production cycle, consider the nba elite/live basketball game canceled.

I wanted to get this game on Tuesday........Hopefully, EA is going to blow us away in 2011 when the game is released.

no, that wouldn't happen. NBA elite 13? thats in 2012.

NBA elite 12 is released in october of 2011

Just joining the party here...

Glad to see that P.O.S. is being pulled from store shelves.

Hopefully, the added time and resources with an extended deadline can really translate into a proper overhaul of what you guys put out there.

Take a real good listen to the gaming community and you'll have a great product to put on display.

But you guys need to make major steps. You got the time; take full advantage of it.

Because next time around, there are NO excuses. None.

No ratings, no player models, no hitches, no nothing.

Animations need a major upgrade. They look terrible and they need to add tons of signature animations to differentiate players.

The game needs to take a more sim approach. Even casual players want a realistic representation of the sport. Otherwise, they'd be playing NBA Jam.

Skill-based shooting needs to be finely tuned so it can't be exploited and falls in line with real life shooting %'s.

To me ea has only had a few good titles I can think of like army of two, bad company just to name a few. Whenever they get there hands on something they turn it into crap! Look at what they did to the 007 series... When rare did goldeneye that was sick and then ea gets their gimmey hands in the mix & turned 007 into trash so to hear that moore & company are postponing elite isnt shocking to me one bit... And hasn't ea canada been responsible for developing ea's basketball for years now? But yet they still have their hands on making basketball games??? I won a cooy of live 7 and traded it in @ gamestop the following day b/c that was the worst bball game I ever remember pkaying. I'll keep it 100 with you by saying that I cant wait for 2k11 b/c live never made a basketball sim...and the demo made my point, they can try & cover it up by saying that the demo was an early build & didn't represent the final product if they want.. Im not buying it... 2k can say there demo isn't the final installment to but it was far better than the trash ea dished out. & gamers please stop saying it was a good move for them to postpone b/c in reality it wasn't. It should have been stopped months ago and not 7 days before release there's no way they didn't know this title was no where near complete... I'm not a huge fan if ea especially when out comes to basketball titles but it's unfair to ea faithfulls who prefer live than 2k b/c now their in a delimma where they either wait it out & hope elite releases sometime in 2011 or pick up 2k11or nothing at all.. And ea really needs to stop charging for downloadable rosters.... Thats greed and very pathetic on their behalf!
