Change Elite back to Live
Live had such a long history. I remember playing Live on the Genesis as a youngin'. It would be like changing the name Madden to Superstar.108Yes0%87No0%21"It's quite frightening to sing "Who's World Is This?" without proper enlightment"

Re: Change Elite back to Live
I voted no. it's too late now. Everybody knows NBA Elite 11 existed. A lot of people have played the demo and see the vision that is behind EA's NBA game. Why go back to Live's old name unless you are going to go back and build off of the NBA Live 10 engine?Favorite Sports Teams
NFL - Carolina Panthers
NBA - Charlotte Hornets
MLB - Cincinnati Reds
College Basketball - Wake Forest
NCAA Football - Appalachian StateComment

Re: Change Elite back to Live
Eh I played Live since I was a little kid so it's pretty strange to see it called something other than Live. But ever since about 2005-2006, they've been going in a new direction since 2K has been king since then. So the name change is to reflect that I guess. My Teams:
NCAA FB-Oregon Ducks
NCAA BB-Gonzaga Bulldogs
NBA-Portland Trail Blazers
NFL-Carolina Panthers
MLB-San Francisco Giants
NHL-Los Angeles Kings
Won't change this signature until Oregon wins a national championship (started 3/10/10)

Re: Change Elite back to Live
I think they absolutely should. From a marketing point, one thing you're always taught is the importance of brand recognition. For better or worse "Live" had a loyal following, as many have been buying that name since they were kids, and honestly have an attachment to that name. Elite has no following. People were going to give it a chance at best. And if it was successful with that direction, then essentially they would be continuing as fans. But to me frankly when I first heard the name change, it showed they had lost their way. Changing the name back would signify that not only do they believe in the new implementations they plan to improve their product, but they plan on returning that product to lofty standards you all remember from years back and beyond.
No one asked for the name change. No one asked for the direction of Elite 11. Many asked that, based on the demo and videos, that the game be pushed back, and EA made the first gesture that showed they listened. I think changing the name back would in essence say "Instead of telling you what we think you want, we are going to continue to give you what you've asked for".It would be good PR

Re: Change Elite back to Live
I hated "Elite" from the start, and I hope they change it. Though what matters most is the gameplay being true to the sport. It could be called "NBA Bench Warmers" and I'd cop without hesitation if it was a good game.
I really hope they change it back to "Live." Because "Live" isn't really associated with the mess that was "Elite" but rather, most people I know considered Live 10 a respectable game (some even preferred it for the first time in years). But if they change it back to "Live" my 2nd wish would be for them to re-open the Live 10 code and start building off that, with more sig and personality. Maybe even try to marry it with some form of the "real-time physics" if possible.
Maybe just "NBA 11" like Mintsa suggests above, or take it back to the history for the longtime players, with "NBA Showdown '11" and include within the packaging higher-res/HD versions of Lakers Vs. Celtics, Bulls Vs. Lakers, Bulls Vs. Blazers, NBA Showdown '94, and NBA Live 95. Just to reiterate that they are the "fathers" of this sim bball market. On top of that, also include "updated" versions of those games, but with todays rosters for the included teams.
And release all this on launch day in Oct. 2011, in one package. Seems possible, esp if they really take the extra cycle to work on next year's release. For $59.99.
This would show true "dedication" to the die-hards out there, who would cop it unquestionably just due to nostalgia if nothing else. And it would send a STRONG signal that EA is getting back into this game and playing for keeps.
And as long as the game is an improvement on Live 10 with more sig, sig, sig, and animations, and better post game. IMO this would be a guaranteed success.
Man, I'm mad that I just typed all that. Because just thinking about it, makes me want it now. And I'm sure EA would never do this.
One can dream......NOW PLAYING:
NBA 2K16, MGS5
WAITING FOR:
Fallout 4
Wife: "Of course he's going out to get his 2K game at 12am, like he can't wait til tomorrow."
Wife's mom: "Be grateful that's what he's running out at midnight for."Comment

Re: Change Elite back to Live
I don't understand how people can get nostalgic for a title. Plus, NBA Live is just as generic as NBA Elite.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment
