I don't understand how people can get nostalgic for a title. Plus, NBA Live is just as generic as NBA Elite.

I agree. I mean more in terms of all the old games EA started out with. Pretty much a string of classic games through the early to mid-90's. If they'd spruce them up for the current consoles and really go all out including them in one package, that'd be a definite success I'd assume.

Hardly likely though.

NBA live hasn't been good for 10 years, it's time to start new, once they get things ironed out maybe Elite will be worth playing, cause NBA live sure hasn't been. Also just because EA decided to change NBA live and try a new engine that doesn't make EA great or the game good. You need a quality base to begin with and that's yet to be seen. Atleast they are trying something. Nba Live has been an arcade game and a poor one at that for many many years.

They wouldn't be able to call it NBA 11 or NBA 12, Sony owns the rights to that.

Something simple like NBA Pro 12.

I remember when it was Lakers vs Celtics, then Lakers vs Bulls, then Bulls vs Blazers. Then EA went the route of including every NBA team and created NBA Showdown (worst EA hoops game ever). In 95, Live was created.

To me, I could care less what the game is named. If it plays great, who cares? I agree that EA's hoops legacy is with the name "Live" but if EA opts to keep the Elite name, it is what it is. The name has nothing to do with gameplay.

I miss the Live name. I dont play the series anymore, but I won't ever forget their games. I had so much fun as a young kid playing some of their games early in the decade. Live had sort of a sentimental thing going with me, and especially with the loyal customers of EA. So to change it, like what is the point? The reasons their previous games failed is because the game doesn't work. Put in the hours fixing your game instead of hours and hours of thinking of a new name and going through that process.

Elite definitely was an arrogant name change, I agree. If you are going to call your game Elite, you probably shouldn't decide to strip the whole thing a week before release and go back to the drawing board.
