No information from anyone regarding NBA Elite. Almost as if the title has become a super secret project at EA Tiburon.

Considering how much the community was involved with the game (and how much it was improving because of it) this tidbit has me worried. Ok, let me say that again... what they had planned to release had be worried, so the entire project going M.I.A. has me full of apathy at this point.

I had originally expected for Elite to make an appearance before the season was over but I sincerely doubt this is going to happen now. EA BBall might be completely scrapped for this season.

Maybe, but after what they went through with the last title, I think the last thing they should do is commit to any type of new title or release time before they have a clear idea of what they're doing and if it will be ready. It's not like there's marketing they can do for an October basketball release in January or March 2011 that will make any real difference.

I think it would be in their best interests to hold another community day some time within the next 2-3 months or just ASAP really.

Like Pared said the game was improving because of the community interaction, so getting in a CD as early as possible could only be a good thing IMO.

They should really start a cd, I hope they come back better than ever, cause their online is missed, but honestly the game was getting better due to Mike Wang, losing him was a major blow, hope they can rebound and release their best game ever, like purchasing two games a year

This year's game (Elite '11) is cancelled, but as far as I recall Elite '12 is coming out October 2011 like it normally would. Unless of course any more craziness goes down.

Personally I would prefer they wait until 2013 and release an incredible game. After the events of the last few months I think they really need to just blow everybody away with their next release.

What I dont understand is why not keep going in the direction that Live 10 started? Its still my favorite BasketBall game as of right now. I liked 2k11 but the movement just doesnt fly with me so back to Live 10 I went.

The game had so much potential and the course they were going was great. Why scrap it and start something new? IMO it was so close to becoming great.

That's what I don't understand. I thought Live '10 was "almost there" in terms of what I wanted. I liked the look and feel of it, it just needed a bit more in-depth polish (like deeper attributes/tendencies, more sig-like animations and performances etc). The real time physics was also promising, since it would removed a lot of canned animations. I was digging the idea of the new controls (the NHL style) and the shooting mechanics, and a more livlier ball.

I was so stoked if they gave us a better version of Live 10. Instead, based on the demo, we got a completely new and re-done game from scratch that felt like a Beta Test build. Generic is the best word I can think of.

I feel like I'm stuck with 2k11 now. I thouroughly enjoy the game, but wish I had 2 to chose from on any given day. No matter how good 2k11 is, it still feels like it's running on last-gen tech.

I love live 10 really I do but if they took live 10 any further, meaning more animations cuz thats all live 10 needed IMO, it would be just like 2k11 (Animation Wars/Iso-motion) < not real basketball. why dont people understand this. thats why mike wang wasnt needed anymore, they realized this and decided to change the game, I am glad they did elite 11 demo was a preview of the future of basketball. real time physics and total control, it was a very ambitious task for only one year so more time was needed. I have converted a lot of 2k heads who actually enjoy the elite demo. they say the learning curve is steep but they like it and wish it was more polished. you never see the same thing twice in elite.

That's because you end up turning off the game.

Elite was far from finished. It had a lot of nice aspects but the project as a whole wasn't a worthy bball title that could compete. The potential was really there though. Add proper foot planting and the control of their dribbler was unmatched IMO.

I agree with you 100%.

I've seen people here say "it's good ELITE was cancelled, now they'll have two full years to work on LIVE 12 or whatever it's called".

WRONG.

Elite was a disaster...and the thing has been handed off to a section of EA who already will be very busy on their own games. LIVE / ELITE 12 will have way less than a normal dev cycle and be released by a team trying to clean up someone else's mess.

Just do it properly for once. 2013 would be the earliest possible timeframe for the game to be decent.
