the only problem i have is the player models
and what i mean by that is when im swinging the ball around looking for the open for a quick jumper i wind up passing it to my center or someone who doesnt shoot 3's i cant tell who is who sometimes

How challenging is the game? Sliders in madden for instance tend to take the game on rails. What I mean is that do players have good days and bad days (or moments) and is there in general some other random stuff happening in the game affecting the outcome. After playing a while, can this happen: "if I have my medium range jumper slider set at this x number, I can hit the jumper every time from here or if I try to shoot from here in this situation, I know I'm gonna miss".

Hope you (p2x) or anyone understood what I meant.

Yeah and can you indeed get statistical realism with sliders? How are the simmed stats?

So do u guys just slide the game speed all the way down to make the game not an up and down game then? I havent really messed with the sliders much.

I think the thing that you need to understand about Live 2004 (and this is what separates it from other b-ball v/games) is that teams play to their respective styles.

For instance, I use the Knicks. If you think about them, they're a halfcourt team and doesn't put up much points. It's like that in the game. Now, when I play against a team like the Sac Kings who run and gun, I naturally have to score more, just to keep up with that pace. And that's what happens. It doesn't mean that I will win (I'll lose of course), but instead of putting up 85 points in a winning effort, I'll put up 95 in a losing effort.

                  So on an so forth.

I've done sliders but only tweaked a couple from their default settings. I'll have 2 or so poor 3-point shooting games in a row for instance. The next game, I can just go on a hot streak.

I think EA did a good job of getting teams to play like they really do in the NBA.

The thing about the sliders in Live '04 is that their self-explanatory pretty much and you don't need to mess with ALL of them. It plays pretty good out the box IMO.

Thanks bigeast. I was hoping it's like that.

Two detail things that bothered me about ID 2003 was FT attempts and rebounding. So, in Live 2004, do you get 20 to 25 FT attempts a game and the occasional 30 to 40 attempts? In other words, does the FT frequency slider work?

And the rebounding. If you play on quarter lengths that give both teams 80 to 85 shot attempts a game on average, what is the rebound average for both you and the CPU (should be 40 to 44)? Do sliders work in this category?

Check the Official Sliders thread. There have been stats posted there.

Yeah, both me and the CPU get to the line 20+. It's great. I don't think I've ever played a b-ball videogame where the CPU has been in foul trouble or fouled out. This has been the case in Live '04.

                              The Foul slider definitely works.

80-85 shots is too much if you're playing less than 12 minute quarters, so it's relative to whether you're playing a 48-minute game.
